Osteria al Doge Ratings and Reviews
We were in town to see some shows and Osteria was highly recommended by NY friends. While located just off busy Times Square, it felt like an intimate neightborhood place, popular with locals. The service and food were excellent - perfect for dinner before or after a show.
Osteria is now on our list of favorites!
Standby off Times Square with Venetian dishes mixed with traditional Italian fare (pasta e fagioli). Prices reasonable, but not cheap. Wine list is not extensive but has decent choices Service is professional. Dishes we liked: baby octopus, calf liver, pork tenderloin
My husband and I came here for dinner before seeing the Lion King. The restaurant itself is very cute, though I could see how it could be uncomfortably crowded during peak dinner times (we went at 4:30). They actually have to pull out the tables for you to sit down and they're very close together. Our server was not overly friendly and did not even give us his name, though the service in general was very quick which is nice if you're in a rush to see a show. The food was average, nothing spectacular. I had the salmon/goat cheese ravioli and had higher expectations. We thought the prices were pretty reasonable, however doubt that we would ever return.
A friend and I enjoyed a relaxing pre-theater dinner in a comfortable corner table. My spinach and ricotta ravioli in sage butter sauce was yummy. And my friend enjoyed an appetizer of calamari and shrimp as an entree. Very good and plenty to eat. The restaurant is cozy and warm, and we were just across the street from the theater.
Tasty food for being in NYC but really expensive: 105 $/pp fix menu with two courses + 11 $/glass of medium quality wine + 7 $/ bottled water+ 3,75 $ espresso (it could be offered, at least!!!)+ mandatory 20% of gratuity!!!! Are you kidding me??? In Italy, these prices are typical of Michelin star restaurants, exceptional quality restaurant that can not be compared with this one!
My husband and I took 3 teenage boys to New York for a few days. We all enjoyed our pre-theater dinner at Osteria al doge. Food was good; two of the boys devoured their lasagna followed by dessert. Service was efficient and pleasant. My husband an I had dined there in October upon recommendation of the hotel concierge and decided to have one of our dinners on this trip.
