Osteria al Doge Ratings and Reviews
An old favorite that we have not been to for awhile, Osteria al Doge did not disappoint. Service was efficient and friendly. They immediately asked about show times and made sure dinner was relaxed but prompt. Food was delicious. My husband had a risotto and I had the fish special. We were both pleased. Great spot for pre-theater.
Enjoyable dinner - feels like a genuine Italian eatery. Could have been the place Billy Joel talked about.....a bottle of red?....a bottle of white?.....
Very accommodating also on gluten free options. Very accommodating if you let them know in advance if going to a show.
We shared the burrato appetizer; my friend had the grilled mixed seafood entre and polenta, I had taliatelle bolognaise and spinach. Each was delicious as were the crackers and bread. Our drinks were perfect as well. I've eaten here for years and never been dissatisfied.
Osteria al Doge
We came here before our 8p show. If you are going around show time definitely have a reservation. The hostess was lovely and we were seated right away. Our waiter Rex was very nice and helpful with suggestions. He recommended a really
yummy French martini. We got the grilled octopus, the pasta quartto formaggi and the manicotti (which was on the special’s list) and we got the tiramisu for dessert. The whole meal was delicious! Paced perfectly and we got to our show on time. I️ highly recommend it.
My go to when going to a Broadway show. As usual everything was great--the meal, the service, ambiance, etc. My only issue was we were seated upstairs and it was very warm and when we left, I put my hand on the handrail to go down the stairs and got a huge splinter stuck in my hand which made the evening very uncomfortable. I alerted them that the wooden rail was nicked and caused the splinter. They asked if there was anything they could do but I had to run to the show.
I have been to Osteria al Doge many times over the past several years and have recommended the restaurant to friends who ask for a restaurant recommendation. The food is consistently good with creative options such as the stuffed zucchini flowers. The service is friendly and accommodating to those of us seeing a show after lunch.
This is such a fun restaurant right off of Times Square. I was looking for something that was authentic and good food but still near our Broadway Show. I had read previous reviews that when you entered the restaurant it felt like you entered a different place. This was true. The ambience was great, the location allowed us plenty of time to get to our show, the food was excellent, and the staff was great.
I have dined at Osteria al Doge several times and enjoy it everytime. I often recommend this restaurant to friends as the food is always good, staff if very friendly and the atmosphere is nice, yet causal. I especially like the special of the day... all three of us ordered it! Thank you for a great dining experience.
Noise level was very high. Had a reservation for 2 that I booked two weeks before date. My biggest complaint was the location of my table. The table was in the middle aisle with a lot of traffic moving about and wait staff waiting by the table to move back and forth from the bar. I would have assumed that with a reservation that I would have had a better table.
We ate upstairs because of the noise and the tables downstairs were so close together. The table was so small that it was impossible to have the bread basket, olive oil, and appetizer on the table at the same time.
Also, we ordered the prosciutto di San Daniele and mozzarella di bufala and it came with ONLY 2 thin fatty pieces of prosciutto...TWO!!! Lastly, it was my wife's birthday and they do not even provide a complimentary dolce...a disappointment considering the $$$ spent.
