Osteria al Doge
Ok food, very good service, perfect for pretheatre. My lasagna was barely warmed. My daughter had the fish special and it was very good. They are very mindful of your schedule if you have theatre tickets.
Food was good but service was extremely rushed. The waiter literally came over every 3 minutes to try to clear the table for a solid 20 minutes. There was no reason as there was many open tables. I wouldn’t go back
The food was amazing - we all ordered one of the specials being offered that evening and everything was very flavorful and fresh. Our waiter was attentive and professional. It was especially nice to be there after the pre-theatre rush!
Great atmosphere and service! Best lasagna I have ever eaten!
Went after Saturday Matinee. So it was a quiet time. By the time we left every table was taken and walk-ins were being turned away. Three of us shared four courses. We started with mushroom risotto which was toothsome. Then we had mixed seafood dish some of the items were over cooked. Followed by calf liver which was done medium well. We should have specified we like our liver more pink. The side order of asparagus was just right as was the dessert, chocolate mouse cake.
We've eaten at Osteria more times than I can count and we usually visit when in the city since we've always had excellent meals and service here but they clearly had an off night on this visit. We ate late (around 11:15) due to a show and overall everything from the food to the service was not as good as on past visits. The waiter was slow and the food was just ok. I'm going to write it off as end of day issues but definitely not what we are used to when dining here.
Lovely authentic Italian
GREAT big steak , not the best garlic potatoes ... service friendly and efficient .
Loved the food! Octopus appetizer was below average however, but salad and pasta were excellent. Place is noisy, but thankfully around 1:30-45 it emptied out as I guess people are going to broadway matinee. This is our third visit and we would go back. Waiter was excellent, and he said he was new, so bravo to him.
The service was a little abrupt but the food is good. I have eaten there a lot in the past, but I think I will begin to look for alternatives. Service and food need to match.
Delicious, outstanding, wonderful!
Everything we had was delicious. The butternut squash ravioli special was the best I've ever had. The clams and mussels were delicious as always. Perfect place whether going to the theater or not.
Very dependable Northern Italian cuisine. Reservations respected. To avoid crowds and rushed theatre service, go after 7:30 PM.
I really like this restaurant, anything on the menu is great. Always try the specials. the pasta is great and the fruit tart is a must.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! Authentic food, friendly service, and nice atmosphere.
There was nothing bad about our experience but also nothing extraordinary. They have some interesting dishes and they were good. We just walked away feeling kinda' underwhelmed by all of it.
The food was average the service and ambiance were good. The location was also greT for theater goers
Food here is excellent. Servers are not quite warm and friendly but OK
Great service. I have always enjoyed dining at Osteria al Doge, whether for lunch or dinner. Great wine selection also.
Food and service couldn’t have been better!
Ideally located across the street from the Hudson theater. I would have preferred to sit on the first floor, but was told my table was upstairs. The food was good.
They made us feel welcome from the moment we entered the door. We had reservations for an early dinner in between the Harry Potter plays and they asked us when we needed to be finished and they got us out in record time
The food was delicious. Loved the little touches like scraping the crumbs off the table for us. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. We would definitely return. Great find in Times Square and authentic Italian food.
The food is generally good but the menu and specials are rather unimaginative. We go there as the location is so convenient for the theater district ... but we do not see it as a dining destination.
Outstanding food. Loved the risotto with sausage ragu.
As usual Osteria al Dolge was fantastic. Great food and great service. One thing I will say is that my coworker and I ordered the calamari and shrimp appetizer and there were only three shrimp. Kind of surprised by that. Still giving them five stars though-:)
Very solid authentic Italian restaurant. Always reliably good food and professional staff. Excellent salads seafood, as well as creative pastas.
Perfect pre-theater dinner!
A theater district mainstay, Osteria Al Doge doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for a red sauce Italian joint look elsewhere, as Osteria features Venetian cuisine that will surprise you. Great food, obsequious service and reasonable prices make this place a favorite spot in midtown that's perfect pre-theatre or at any other time.
The food and service were very good, but one of the waiters (not mine) was wearing enough cologne to be disturbing to me.
Very good Italian food; excellent service; very convenient location near theaters. My friend had the ceasar salad, served in a parmesan cheese bowl which she said was very tasty and fish special which she also highly recommended; I had the spinach, beet and goat cheese salad - very refreshing and the special mushroom ravioli -- a bit heavier, but very good. On the pricey side, but to be expected in this location. Both of us had a glass of wine each, and I had a cappuccino. It worked out to about 75 per person before tip.
Très bons plats sans grosse surprise
It was too loud and the food was just mediocre. The prices were high.
Andrew was a great server! There when you needed him-not there when you didn’t. To me that is the definition of the perfect waiter.
Made a reservation at this restaurant because it was across the street from the theatre we were going to. The service at first was spotty but it improved. The Cesar salad was hyped for cheese and anchovies. There was one very thin slice of some sort of cheese that was as hard as a rock and one anchovy draped across the top. My wife's prawns was very good, my roast with a mustard sauce was tough and the amount of sauce could not cover a ritz cracker. The asparagus tops were removed and all you got were stems hard as a rock. The other vegs didn't seem to be cooked.
Food was excellent. Our server, and, unfortunately I can't recall his name, was superb. We would go again.
Always fantastic food. Always great service. Excellent place for pre-theatre dinner for a group of 6 or less.
Great service and good food.
We always go here when in NYC and it is always superb!
Always my fav prethreatre stop! Amazing food.
Everything about this restaurant is wonderful every time I dine there.
The restaurant came highly recommend, but I was very disappointed in the food. My pork tenderloin was over cooked and tough. I ordered the baby spinach and beet salad, but it had no flavor at all. The wait staff was excellent, but I will never eat there again.
Great food. Clean and lovely setting! Our server was fantastic and attentive! Have visited here many times! ❤️
