Drove from Carroll County to Annapolis. have been to many Italian restaurants in the Maryland area searching for "good italian".In Baltimore i'm hitting Sotto Soppar, but now, in Annapolis, wow, Osteria177 is fantastic. It's not cheap, from the Veal Chop to the wine, but the food is excellent. We were a party of four and had two pasta dishes, pappardelle and fusilli and two seafood dishes, the Branzino, filleted at the table, and Barramundi, a sea bass from the Red Sea.
Our server, Ben, very very smart, polite and knowledgeable about the food. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out and an excellent dinner.
We have eaten here twice now and have been very happy with the food and the service. Pricey but worth it!
As always the restaurant was exceptional. Our favorite in Annapolis. Shelly Gowen
Our whole experience was truly outstanding. Each of the four of us ordered a different main course, and we all "cleaned our plates." Each dish was beautifully presented and extraordinarily delicious. We'll be back.
My wife brought me here for my Birthday. We live in Annapolis and this is a short walk for us. We had the same young lady as our server that we had a few times ago. The food is always great and they can accommodate any special requests. We always eat early before the crowd arrives.
Between the food and the service we will return again and again.
We’ve been to Osteria 177 many times before and were looking forward to a lovely Anniversary dinner. We were rather sad when we walked in the door and the disinfectant/other odor from the downstairs restrooms is what greeted us - and we could smell it at our table, as well. We felt the portions were smaller than we had previously experienced, but what we ordered was delicious. Too bad the overall ‘aroma’ in the restaurant wasn’t very pleasing. Another couple walked in and we overheard them say, “Smells like Hong Kong...”
My girlfriend and I have been here twice, the first by ourselves and the second on a double date with some friends. It's an absolutely delightful restaurant; the atmosphere is very calm, despite being right in the middle of downtown. Service is excellent--the waiting staff will make sure you're taken care of, especially when they're less busy, and it's a pretty short wait for food. Finally, the food is absolutely amazing! An excellent blend of seafood and traditional Italian, in portions that will fill you up so you don't regret the price.
A celebration after the death of our Mom.......
Food was delicious and the service was great, as was the wine selection. The specials were interesting and original.
Wonderful and tasty! Always a very enjoyable meal here. Very classy and sophisticated menu.
Had a late afternoon lunch after strolling the scenic streets of Annapolis… Charming restaurant, was modern and sophisticated with a fantastic menu which included Easter specials…Everything was prepared perfectly… Our server Ben was fantastic...Thanks, we will be back
Service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their food, one exception thought her shrimp was overcooked. We were able to have a leisurely meal on a holiday.
We had Easter brunch at Osteria 177. The experience, service and food were excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant. We had a party of 4 and each of us loved our entree. Compiments to the Chef! Great location. Perfect place for an after-dinner stroll through downtown Annapolis.
Looking forward to our next visit.
After 15 mins we had To ask the hostess if we had a waiter then we finally were brought waters. Finally had a water come over 25 mins after being say
In one word Great
We enjoyed a superb dinner complete with appetizers dessert and wine! Our waiter and all the support staff could not have been nicer! Would definitely recommend a visit!
The food at the restaurant was excellence. The waiter had great knowledge of the menu and gave me great tips on what to order since it was my first time. Service was excellence and they helped make it a great night
We had a great birthday dinner for my wife. The food and servie were excellent! Ben, our server, was knowledgeable and able to help us decideon our food and wine. Becoming a Naptown favorite!
Service was outstanding. We had pasta dishes. Food came out hot, portion size ok. Dish was good, not fabulous- especially for the price point. We all agreed. Missed the wow factor.
Fantastic as usual
We've had many meals at Osteria 177. They are consistently good, good atmosphere, good service. They always have several specials and at lunch off a special price menu. We had a mixed meat platter and a caesar salad to start. Both we more then we could eat, there were 3 of us. We had wine and beer and both were on point. We had a pasta dish, a clams and pasta dish and osso bucco. They were all well prepared, presented and seasoned. One of my favorite reasons to come here is for dessert. They are one of the few local places that offer Zabaglione, it is a custard type dessert served with fruit, it is made with eggs and marsala wine. They were moderately busy for a cold Sunday night. It was easy to have a conversation. They offer booths and tables. I always prefer the booths, they are more cosy and the sound level is lower. I would suggest trying Osteria. I believe they are part of the restaurant group that owns Artoro's in Glen Burnie and La Posta in Severna Park. They do have a crosse over on menus, but La Posta, which is the more casual doesn't offer Zabaglione.
It was a very nice restaurant, although I thought it was a bit pricey. Great location. Warm wait staff. Most importantly, the food was also quite good.
Had dinner for four tonight and it was mediocre. Service and welcome were excellent, good noise level and the wine list was manageable and we felt like we received good value for money on the prosecco and wine afterwards. I had the lamb and it was mealy and unappetizing along with reheated brussel sprouts. My other guests had gnocchi that was flavorless, fettuccine that was good and a shrimp and pasta dish that was spicy but hollow underneath. I hear this was once a great restaurant but clearly there is no one running the pass any more with any standards and it is a shame.
This is our favorite restaurant in Annapolis- the service and food are always outstanding!
Excellent food and service. Very authentic. Clearly the best restaurant on Main Street in Annapolis if not in the entire town.
Arguably the best restaurant in Annapolis. Terrific Italian fare that we really enjoyed. The sauces are all great and the specials of the day will all be very tempting. Fantastic dinner.
Had intended to have a full dinner but decided on just apps and drinks. Once server discovered we weren’t having dinner he lost all interest in our table. Could barely get his attention to get our check. The food we did have was excellent....shame we none of intend on returning.
This is our favorite restaurant ever! Everything is just right. Food, service and atmosphere - eveything is on point every single time we dine in here. Can’t ask more!
Osteria177 never disappoints. The atmosphere, staff and chef creations always delight the most discriminating pallets. I cannot say enough wonderful things about everything and everyone at Osteria177! Everything is hand crafted and the attention to detail is impeccable. The entire dining experience is one that should be shared by all and is truly one of the most amazing restaurants I have dined in.
Osteria great as always, changed it up and got the lobster fra diavalo...wow amazing.
Italian accented Fine dining
First time trying The Osteria and disappointed is the best I can say. Positives: The food was well prepared, attractively presented and tasted okay - not spectacular. For the prices, I expected better. Our waiter was very attentive until a regular customer came in, at which time it was like we were 2nd class, and ignored. That alone put a damper on the night. Did not bother staying for coffee or dessert, which is something we would normally do. It came down to a regular customer who obviously was spending more money or my husband and I. Too bad for them, they lost a potential good customer. Plenty of other places in Annapolis where the food is good and the people are warm and friendly.
Great food and very very friendly service
Excellent food in a lovely restaurant.
Hum, what can I say..I really wanted to like this restaurant, but it is quite pricey and not ALL that great. We ordered the mixed seafood appetizer for our table and were less than overwhelmed. 3-4 types of seafood were basically thrown on a serving platter and served. Simply not done in an appetizing fashion at all. I wanted the lamb chops, but the restaurant had run out, so I settled for another lamb dish. Those who ordered seafood seemed to enjoy their meals. I just don't think the quality justifies the price. Service was haphazard at best.
Our waiter was very nice but stood over us a lot which made us a little uncomfortable. The food was delicious but a little over priced.
As always at Osteria 177, a delicious, well-presented dinner served well by the wait staff.
I'm Italian and pretty picky with my national cuisine, at Osteria 177 you will surely find very authentic Italian food with a wonderful inventive by the talented chef. This is de facto my favorite Italian restaurant in the DMV area. Highly recommend
Had the sea bass special, priced at $38...server suggested having it on risotto...agreed, presented without the special garnish, was supposed to be with wilted greens, golden raisins and pinenuts...just fish on mushroom risotto, dinged me a $17 upcharge, server did not inform....poor form...
We have dined at this restaurant frequently since moving to Annapolis in 2009. In the past we had enjoyed eating there. We dined there again for dinner on February 14 this year and several changes have occurred since our initial discovery of Osteria 177.
The first thing we noticed is that the prices have increased significantly. This isn't surprising for a successful restaurant but the increases are unfortunately not warranted. I ordered a Cesar salad that was anything but. It had a bland olive oil dressing oil and a smattering of parmesan cheese on it but no Cesar dressing! I couldn't finish it. When I complained to the waiter, who barely had time to revisit our table after serving us, he said he would bring me another as he walked away from us. I told him not to bother. I expected it to be comped but I was charged for the salad though it certainly was inedible.
My wife's branzino was swimming in a creamy sauce that obscured the flavor of this ordinarily wonderful fish. She couldn't finish it. I will say that my Pesce Spada (swordfish sauteed in bread crumbs, parmesan cheese and garlic) was delicious. The serving was relatively small, however, but tasty.
When the bill arrived, I thought I had been transported to Manhattan! We had ordered a bottle of wine ($70) but the bill was $160! We had ordered only the salad I couldn’t eat and two entrees (one of which was not edible) plus the wine. Most of the entrees were quite overpriced, especially considering the size of the servings.
Throughout the time we spent there, the wait staff was too sparse to serve adequately. They always appeared rushed. Our waiter spent minimal time taking our order before he dashed hurriedly away.
This had been a wonderful restaurant and perhaps we caught them on a bad night but I really didn't think the service and the food preparation warranted the prices. We won't return.
