About Osteria 177
Osteria 177 is the ultimate expression of an Italian tavern where the main attraction is imported delicacies of one-of-a-kind food and wine. Adorned by barreled wine, an Osteria would never lack the sought out local specialties, spices, cheeses, fish or meats. It was here that many people tried to alleviate life's stresses by numbering themselves with good food, good wine, and good company. The owner/chef of the Osteria would take the utmost pride in stocking these praised elements as the basis for mouthwatering meals, a delicious dance-for-all of the five senses. This is the basis for Osteria 177.

Osteria 177 Ratings and Reviews
Osteria 177 has the best fresh entrees in Annapolis. Their dining area is casual elegant as they attract both sets of diners. Their Happy Hour bar area is very small so don’t plan to meet there with a large crowd as they can seat maybe 4-6 but that’s it. Osteria is a local favorite where prime time seating goes fast so reservations are highly encouraged and don’t expect to leave there hungry or disappointed ever. Plan to stay about 90 mins on average as everyone that dines there enjoys the ambiance, entrees and oh yes, the cocktails. Arrive early and stay late and you’ll see why customers keep coming back.
We very much appreciated the phone call 2 hrs before our reservation both confirming the reservation and warning us that the Navy football game was likely to be getting out around that time with some recommendations for parking. We got there early as a result and were immediately seated at a table set for 4 (we were 2) with a view toward the bar where the football game was on TV (we thought that was a bit weird for a restaurant with these price points).. . Our waiter Kirk was personable and professional. The food was excellent, with the best oysters we've had in some time. We were a little surprised, after having made the reservation through Open Table and specifying it was a birthday celebration that no mention was made of the occasion.
The perfect spot on a chilly Halloween to enjoy people watching through the picture window. Dover sole was beautifully prepared and filleted at the table. Crispy potatoes were lightly fried and non-greasy. Swordfish was perfect. Wine list includes impressive bottles. Ruffino Chianti Classico will have you settled in and relaxed in no time.
Wonderful dining experience. We went for my in laws 50th wedding anniversary with 6 people. The service was outstanding and we were not rushed. It was a nice change of pace from most restaurants. The food was outstanding. Everyone loved their meal. The wine was also great. Our waiter was one of the best I have ever had. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or a nice night out.
We love going to Osteria when we visit Annapolis MD. We mostly have seafood which is fresh, creatively prepared and delicious. The wait staff is prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The wine list is very good with lovely italian choices to go with the Italian style menu.
Osteria never disappoints. Everything was amazing...delicious carrot soup as a starter and a special entree that we ordered as an app for the table: risotto over a tuna tartar--this needs to be ok the regular menu--was amazing. Fantastic entree pastas for all four of us. They are so incredibly accommodating with our toddler as well. Perfect meal to cap a perfect day.
Excellent! First time visitor - great first impression! Food was amazing! Service staff was very courteous and helpful! Only complaint- too many fantastic options on the menu! Only regret- got a beer with my dinner instead of wine... I mean, it is an Italian restaurant. Prices are on the high side (reason for 4-star value rating vs 5-star), but it is a fine-dining restaurant in downtown Annapolis. Highly recommend!
Not sure there are enough superlatives for Osteria 177. We've eaten here several times, and each time has been perfect in every way. On a scale of 1-10, Osteria 177 is an 11 in service, taste, ambiance, and value. Yes, it's somewhat pricey, but for most of us it's not a restaurant we'd frequent weekly. We save it for really special occasions because we know we can count on the experience being one we'll thoroughly enjoy and will remember. The waiters are not only completely knowledgeable of all menu items and will happily recommend their favorites or assist you if you're torn between two items. And they do it with continental personality. Friendly but not overbearing. Rest assured all regular menu as well as the daily specials are superb! You can't go wrong. Note: reservations strongly recommended or you might not get in, and we would suggest not trying to go in shorts and sandals. It's not that kind of place. Can't say enough good things about it, so just pick a very special occasion and go. AJG
We were a party of 6 and the server recommended 2 appetizers which could be made for 6 people. One was a grilled fish appetizer of scallops, shrimp and calamari and it was very good. The other was an antipasto which one would expect to be excellent at an upscale Italian restaurant. Not the case. There were 2 olives, 2 slices of cheese, salami, and 2 other meats, one which looked like bologna and the other looked like turkey, both of which were sliced like cold cuts from a deli.
For dinner the veal chop special was ordered by 2 people and both were excellent. the seafood rossoto was excellent as well.
After the server had told us that it would be "difficult for 3 people at the table to order whole fish because it would take too much time to fillet it table side", he then told us that they had run out of whole Branzino, and that only whole dover sole was available which was nearly twice the price. He then "found" a single order of Branzino, as well as another server to fillet the fish table side. The only problem there, was that one of the servers was less than seasoned at filleting fish, so one meal was served with many bones (at $59).
The wait for a dessert menu was long, and the wait for cappuccino inordinately long, serving 3 guests first, followed by the 3 others at least 10 minutes later.
It was not up to par as it has been in the past, but we will certainly give it another try.
Prompt and friendly service, decent but not broad meal selection (at least as far as beef went). A bit pricey, especially the wine list, but even the lower end wine we selected (with assistance from our server) was quite good. Had I an unlimited budget we'd return more often.
