Osteria 166 Ratings and Reviews
Greeted as soon as we entered. Seated immediately. We had an early seating due to a theatre time but within 30 minutes the restaurant area was packed. Menu has something for everyone. Our party all had the filet and stuffed Hungarian peppers sandwich. We shared a meatball for an appetizer. Plenty for 3. Delicious! Already looking forward to going back. Prices are reasonable.
To be honest my experience at the sister restaurant Villaggio located in Ellicotville was much more enjoyable. The restaurant in Buffalo is located nicely and the setting was nice but the negatives was my reservation was not available when I made it for, and my Chicken Parmesan was subpar compared to Villaggios, even though they claim to be the same.
After reviewing the menu my wife and I were excited to try out a new restaurant. When we arrived there were about three other tables seated; however, it took about 15 minutes to receive water and a greeting from our waiter. After ordering and receiving a bottle of wine, it was another 20 minutes until our server appeared. This pattern continued until it was time to settle up the bill, when the service was exceptionally attentive. Overall the food was fine, but the loud atmosphere, coupled with the poor service made it an undesirable dining experience. Certainly will not return.
An overall amazing time! Ambiance, food and drinks were wonderful. Groupn was 6 girls, we tried a bunch of different appetizers, drinks and entrees, each were absolutely delicious. Not to mention the bread and dipping oil! Our server wasn’t the friendliest but the rest of the staff more than made up for it and were very attentive and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and will come back again! Even just the bar seemed like it would be a great time.
The food and service was great as always. Only bad thing was there was a table of 20 people so the noise level was very loud and we couldn't hear each other. But because the restaurant is smaller and open, there is no way around it. It definitely won't stop me from going back.
My wife and I had a great meal prior to attending a show at Shea's. The waitress was aware of this and made sure we were out on time. The bread and dipping oil were excellent as were our entrees. We will definitely come back. Through no fault of the restaurant the noise level was very high due to a large group of 16 people.
This is a very popular place that sometimes is quite loud. I’ve eaten here many times but last dining experience was ... challenging. My friend and I were seated between large parties and we could not hear each other - we relocated to the front room. Despite explaining a tomato allergy my Caesar salad wirh grilled chicken was covered in slided tomatoes. My friend swears she’ll never go back there, but I will. Be ware that both rooms can be loud.
I thought this restaurant was expensive for the quality of the food and the table set up. The entrees were priced in the high-twenties for a pasta dish and did not even include a dinner salad. Your bread comes in a paper bag which I found very strange. The appetizers were very expensive. The red sauce is terrible tasting. No table linens and a table for two is extremely small. There is no parking lot for this place. You have to pay $5 to park behind in the lot. I would look for a better Italian restaurant.
Osteria completely satisfied our Italian food craving. The meatballs are famous and for good reason, they are delicious and savory, filled with flavor. The bucatini carbonara is another favorite and the risotto sticks are a must have. The restaurant was a bit loud on a Thursday night, but the overall ambience was perfect for a date. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good Italian meal
Just love this place! A must is the "Bucket of (Meat) Balls"! All the food is home made. We have a vegetarian in our group who just loves this establishment! The bar scene is great, lot's of energy and seating should you want to people watch! Can't say enough about the wait staff - we just want them to pull a chair up to our table, they are so much FUN!
We went during restaurant week to try it out for the first time, great bartenders and drinks and great service and dinner! The only thing I was upset by was the friendliness of the host... we were very early for an 8 o'clock reservation and kindly asked if by any chance we could be sat earlier that we were and the host seemed to make it a very big inconvenience. But wonderful food and ambiance nonetheless!
The food was very good but we felt VERY rushed. I know it's difficult for restaurants to find the "Goldilocks point" where service is not too slow and not too fast, but just right. I should note also that it was Restaurant Week. The server was efficient but everything was simply too fast to be enjoyable. We had just begun sipping our cocktails when the bread was served. That was ok but within minutes, literally, our salads arrived. The server had trouble finding room for them on the small table because of the bread plates and dipping oil. We had barely finished our salads when the entrees arrived. There was really no time to just relax, chat and enjoy. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. As I said, we enjoyed the food but we will not be going back anytime soon.
We were staying at a hotel nearby and Osteria 166 came up in my search for a restaurant with gluten free options. With my special dietary needs, I'm always nervous when traveling but I was grateful to happen upon Osteria 166 as they provided me with a delicious and stress free dining experience. Our waitress was kind and helpful. She gave me suggestions, listing all of my options and explaining to me how my food would be prepared. She helped put my mind at ease so I could enjoy my night out with my husband. I loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious.
