Food and service were impeccable! Even during crazy restaurant week, drinks, pizza appetizer, and dinners were spot on. Shannon is one of the best servers in Buffalo...always hospitable and accommodating! And this is coming from a very picky eater, who makes multiple changes to ordered menu items. Thanks for a great night!
We have dined here many times. Never disappointed. Consistent with great service and food.
Restaurant week menu is worth it! The risotto was outstanding!
The food was very good. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We arrived at the time of our reservation and had to wait about 20 minutes of so at the bar, but the bartender was friendly and attentive as well.
It was a little loud in the bar area with live music there, but was quieter in main dining room.
Overall pleased and would definitely go again.
Exceptional service with well thought out dishes. Great experience
I was so excited to finally try Osteria 166 as they had catered a previous holiday party I attended and also came highly recommend. Sad to say I was underwhelmed by the food. I did go during restaurant week and maybe that was not the best time. Everything came out rather quickly which in this instance was probably not a good thing. My risotto and the chicken lasagna (which was also highly recommended) were barely warm. Overall I would consider the taste of both dishes mediocre at best. The positive notes were the bread and the salad. I think that because of the volume for restaurant week they were maybe more focused on getting people in and out rather than food quality. I will not be returning.
Great place with amazing Italian food. The spacing is a bit small but with good service that's something you can get over. I had the prickly pear creme brulee--It was very delicious!
We chose Osteria 166 from the local restaurant week listing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Everything was great...food, service, ambiance. We will definitely eat there again! Highly recommend!
Went for Local Restaurant Week which offered a prix fixe menu. Selections were good and the food that we received was very good. I assume the portions were slightly small for an Italian restaurant due to the nature of the offer. The server was great and attentive. I would definitely go back on a less busy week and try the rest of the menu.
Outstanding waiter......great service. Great food. There were five in our party and we couldn't have enjoyed it more.
We really enjoyed the dinner at Osteria. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere even better, couldn’t have picked a better Italian restaurant if we dreamed one up. Thank you for rick he awesome dinner.
I really enjoyed my experience at your restaurant, the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The food was simply delicious, everything from the appetizers up to the meals. I normally don't drink wine, but I tried some at the advice of our waiter... and I loved it. I will definitely be back, and I rate my entire experience an A+. I promise to let everyone know to pay your place a visit. I know a lot of people, so make sure that you thank ME when your clientele increases. Thank you very much, my lady really enjoyed her birthday dinner and so did I. Darren Exum
This was our first time trying Osteria 166. The Buffalo Calamari appetizer was excellent - a very different twist. Drinks were good - very unique menu to select from. Entrees were very good. There was live music at the time and it was a bit hard to talk to one another until the doors between the bar area and dining area were closed. An overall good experience; always looking to try somewhere new.
The service and ambiance were great and all four in our party loved our meals. What more can we ask for? We will be back!
Waiter was so nice and friendly, very informed about drinks and menu. Food was excellent.
Menu has good variety with nicely balanced options. Good wine list and choice of cocktails. Rob, our server, was phenomenal, made great suggestions and has a fantastic personality....great compliment to the wonderful food. Highly recommend Osteria 166....and wouldn’t hesitate to request Rob.
We went for our anniversary, but brought our four kids age 6-15.. I was a little nervous they would be weird about kids because it seemed a little higher end when I made reservations, and they don't have a kids menu. But they had great options (my 6 year old loved the spaghetti and meatballs), the waitress and staff were all wonderful and attentive. It was very crowded and not super private, to my taste.. I expected a little more space while viewing their website. Obviously making reservations for a weekend dinner there are necessary unless you plan to sit at the bar! It was pretty loud, I had a hard time hearing what my family was saying even before the live music was playing. But overall pretty great!
Excellent service, delicious food. Would go back many times.
Amazing experience! Our waitress was Spot On. Attentive, conscience and respectful.
Love the food and atmosphere. Fast service, friendly staff. The meals here never fail to please.
Everything was very good, especially the Barata. Only suggestion would be for the steak on the Filet sandwich should have been seasoned more.
Service was slow and inconsistent. Twice had to find a server to either take an order or get the status
Entree Polo Frito was chicken nuggets and sweet/sour sauce
Pizza was 30 minutes late and was sitting as cheese was hard
Server made no excuses
Will never go there again
Great food, reasonably priced! A varied menu..something for everyone from light fare to full dinners. Excellent service! Very accommodating for special occasions. Nice atmosphere. Cool bar with unique beverage selections. Easy street parking after 5 pm.
We went to celebrate Birthdays, the food and service were excellent! However it was crowded so the noise level is moderate to high I would highly recommend!
Food was excellent the noise level was a bit high. I also wish that you had a separate entry way for dinner and not going through the bar.
My wife started mid afternoon saying how she wanted pasta. We were driving from Md to a special occasion in Buffalo. Went on line and found the closest pasta restaurant to the Westin Hotel. It was a brilliant move. The duck dish with pasta was the best pasta dish ever tasted by my wife. The meatballs were buttery soft and tasty. And the grilled chaser salad was amazing. There is no scale large enough to rate this experience. The closest metaphor is a home run of a date.
Appetizers and salads were excellent. My wife's main meal was very good. I had a special, Calamari with tagliatelle in a lobster broth. I found the broth to be too salty. The pasta was perfectly al dente. As a special it was ok, but not a great value.
We went for a birthday and the ambiance was not what we were looking for at all. We were seated by a window and it was very drafty. I had requested that a bottle of champagne be at the table upon our arrival, it was not. Our server was great, the food was not. I actually had to send back a dish because it was so salty it was inedible. They took it off our bill which we appreciated. We had wanted to go to a place that had killer service and food and this just totally missed the mark. If you want a decent meal that is overpriced, you can go here.
We went to Osteria 166 to celebrate my husbands birthday. We were staying at the Curtiss and it was an easy walk. The food was wonderful...the waiter was very friendly and generous with his time and knowledge...the atmosphere is very welcoming.
We have had the pleasure of visiting Osteria 166 many times over the past 2 years. Normally, its an 8 out of 10. On this occasion, we were seated next to a table of 20 people. 4 other tables of 2 or 4 were in the same area of the restaurant. The noise was overwhelming and we were desperate to leave. This group should have had the space to itself and we would have been much better served somewhere else......
I met some clients here for a small group dinner. It's not a fancy place but the food and drinks were very good and reasonably priced. The noise level got pretty loud toward the end of our dinner and that was a Monday night!
My husband and I visisted Osteria 166 for his birthday this year and were not disappointed. First and foremost, the bread is some of the most delicious bread I've ever had in my life. I'm not a bread connoisseur, but this stuff could win awards. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and our food was served promptly. The portion sizes are perfect and the price was probably the best thing about the whole place. You get a fine dining experience for a fraction of the cost, tucked away in a corner of downtown Buffalo.
When we asked for the check and were ready to leave, we were brought a slice of sweet potato cheesecake and shots of coffee liqueur on the house, since I had mentioned in passing that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. We truly enjoyed our night out and will definitely stop by again.
Fantastic food, service, and ambience, as usual.
This is one of the more creative Italian restaurants in Buffalo. . The buratta is fantastic. Initially my main ravioli dish was brought out like warm but the server fixed it right away. The server’s name was Shannon and she was extremely friendly and accommodating. She was one of the nicest servers we have ever encountered. We will return.
The food was delicious and the waiter was very nice and helpful.
Love this place. Have been to Buffalo only twice and have eaten here three times. You can’t go wrong with the food and the service is outstanding!
Noise level unbearable. It was impossible to talk to each other. My first whiskey was 1/4" high at the bar. At the table, our second one was 2" high. The amount of food was minimal. I had to go home and eat again. We were there for 2 birthdays and nothing was ever offered, e.g. cupcake or small cake. Our waitress was very kind but never asked if anyone wanted dessert or coffee. My husband's chicken parm. was way too thick. Totally disappointing night.
The spicy risotto was inedible. We like spicy food but this burned in the first bite. Lobster bisque was delicious. Rest of the meals were considered average.
Delightful meal at a friendly and welcoming place. Wonderfully atttentive but not overbearing service. Crabacake and scallop appetizer is a keeper! Good music choice.
