Osso Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Personally. This was one step above Olive Garden. The staff was unorganized and it looked like they had the cooks serving at one point based upon their appearance. It took almost an hour to be seated and I had reservations. Mind you, we had to wait almost 15 min to have the car parked by valet. The floors were slippery so if you’re someone who wears heels, just don’t because I almost slipped several times. After being seated, it took over 15 min to receive water. Then another 40 min to have our orders taken. The main server who appears to be Italian is incredibly pretentious, so be prepared for a snooty attitude at a mediocre place. On top of that, my filet minion was not impressive. I will never come here again.
Food was great. Service was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. After the waiter (Khalid L) took our food order, we never saw him again. My wife was trying to order another drink during the meal...nothing. He never checked in during our meal. The bus staff was good. Even after our leftovers were boxed up, the waiter continued to ignore us. It was obviously he was paying more attention to tables of 6 or more people with a guaranteed 20% tip. I had to walk up to the host table to track down the manager to get my check (two sides were comp’ed, but didn’t really make up for the terrible experience). Numerous tables around us were all experiencing the same poor service as the manager had to make his rounds and speak with each table in this waiter’s area. The waiter then took my credit card and came back with spoons. He continued to bring an ice cream with a lit candle (we were not celebrating anything). I declined it and requested he return my credit card so we could leave. There is no excuse for a $200+ meal to be accompanied with such poor service. I will never return and would never recommend Osso Steakhouse to anyone. It is unfortunate too, because the food was good. Very disappointed
Came here for Valentine’s Day. Had a reservation for 5:30 got seated when we got there not much people at the time. Ordered the filet minon my fiancé order the petite filet. We also had a bottle of wine food was good came out at a decent time Steak was cooked perfectly the sauce was delicious as well however, are server the worse part of the dinner. He saw our wine glasses empty didn’t even acknowledge or bother to refill our glasses he just walked right pass out table like he didn’t see it were over here like seriously? There was no table touches at all. With a restaurant of this caliber you would expect decent service unfortunately you get the service of a fast food restaurant even the busboys did a better job then our server. Advice Teach your servers the right ways of being a server.
Wouldn’t come back here again.
The steak and the mushrooms were good, but otherwise all the food was underwhelming. We also got calamari fritti and the brussels sprout chips, which were mediocre. The waitstaff were attentive at first but seemed to have forgotten about us once the main dishes were served.
Food was amazing, dining room was extremely bright, we had to ask 3 times (3 separate staff members) for the lights to be dimmed which finally they did. They brought the wrong dish to our table twice. I would request front room seating over the back room which was not as nice.
The service was unacceptable. After being at this restaurant for 2hrs, we were only served our appetizers while other diners enjoyed entrees and desserts. After speaking to our server and the manager, we left without dinner. Overall, we will not be returning to this establishment.
It was my first time at Osso Steakhouse. I chose this venue for my bday dinner with friends/family. We were a party of 8 and had a really great time. The food was great (crab fondue, oysters, chorizo cheese bread, calamari) and my steak was to die for (ribeye). I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend and can't wait to be back.
Food was good, rumor is that they are the old owners of Bobos steak house on Lombard. The Osso Steak was great, the bread was not as good as Bobos and neither was their dipping sause for the crab, muscle and shirmp. The shrimp used for the combo platter were anemic, should have been left off, too small. It was our waiter’s third day on the job and it was noticeable. He forgot a few things and wasn’t really taking charge of the ordering. He was nice and the service was good enough. Food speaks for its self in a place like this, and it really takes a lot for a waiter to screw things up. Anyway, the experience was great, food was good. Prices were reasonable and that coarkage was only $10. Would go again, but they need to work on their bread and fix their sauce, a little more capers in the garlic butter sause will do the trick. They also need to train their staff a little better regarding opening and pouring wine. They only look the part, they also need to play that part. All the waiters wear tuxedos..
Art Deco decor is well done—especially the booths. Asparagus soup was a great start. Filet mignon was wonderful, but the strip part of the porterhouse was chewy and just okay. For the price we were expecting it to be incredible. The creamed spinach and roasted vegetable sides were both great.
I made a reservation for 8:00 pm for 4 people. The host staff said that they were running about 10 minutes behind schedule, which we were fine with. Without any communication or apology, our table was sat at 8:50 pm.
Our server greeted our table promptly and took our drink order. The server did not return for another 25 minutes with our cocktails. We ordered appetizers, salads and entrees. After 30 minutes we received our appetizers and one of three salads. We watched every table surrounding us receive their meals, eat and leave. I asked my server the status of our food and he did not know. At this point it was 10:20 pm , we had a show to attend and were forced to have the server cancel the remainder of our dinner.
In total, we were at the restaurant for 2.5 hours and only received drinks, appetizers and (a) salad.
Never once did management stop by the table to ask how we were doing or apologize for their poor service. I spent many years working in restaurants and understand that orders get lost, kitchens get behind, but never experienced anything this bad. If management must void all entrees off a bill, they should at least have the decency to visit the diners to discuss their issues. Poor service happens, but poor management is unacceptable.
quit upset that we booked table 3 weeks , confirmed twice, end up rib rye 86 when the time we arrived .... i assume they should have good count on supply when aware big numbers on reservations came on the same day ...
Suggestion for people reserve your meat when booking your table to avoid disappointment...
I made reservations for 9pm and arrived 15 mins early. Still ended up waiting another 25mins to be seated. I arrived before several parties and they were seated before me. Took about 20mins before the waiter took our drink order. Nice place, could use some improvements with customer service. Will I recommend to friends? Probably not.
We started with two different salads - both quite good - but the main courses were a completely different story. There was a 25 minute wait between the time our empty salad plates were picked up and our entrees arrived and based on how dried out and flavorless the dishes were my guess is that they spent the majority of those 25 minutes sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be picked up. Where was our waiter? Where were the food runners?
Great overall eating experience front to back! Did it for restaurant week and will absolutely return. The "Osso specials" (Asparagus soup - not part of prix fix, Cheesy Bread) made it unique. The steak was only slightly disappointing, mostly due to the fact that I did the res week special and did not indulge myself with the bone-in, which I bet is amazing. New York transplant and was very satisfied with the overall quality - will certainly be back.
On 21st night my wife and I had dinner at the restaurant. We ordered the seafood combo but we were served the super combo. We only realised when the bill came. Despite knowing that it was our first time we were not briefed about the bibs and the crab crusher which was just left at the corner end of the table. The server, Josh seemed very busy and surely the restaurant was under staffed. The steak was delicious after sending it back the first time. It seemed rare intially when we ordered it medium. Overall we enjoyed the food and ambience but despite service being slow initially no time was lost when the bill was presented.
We very frequently dine out. And have never posted a review before, but am compelled to do so now. I am not sure where to start there was so much wrong. The food was OK but for $200+ for two...less so. The service was absolutely awful. We started by sharing a salad and they brought it unshared. They asked if the bread plates were good for the salad but then brought it back split on proper plates. And then we had no utensils. We asked for bread and butter. Pretty good, but didn't know we would be charged for it. The sides arrived before the entrée by about five minutes. Then our $95 porterhouse appeared....RAW. We sent it back for more fire. Ten minutes later it re-appeared. We had asked to have the steak cut up, which it wasn't when it arrived the first time; and it wasn't when it arrived the second time. And, when we asked for it
to be cut again it was like HUH!. We waited another 6 or 8 minutes more. And we were never given utensils...again. NO STEAK KNIVES! Another wait, but now the sides were cold so we sent them back. Our final wait was over and we ate. These people have no idea what they are doing between the server and the helpers it was truly a joke. The dessert was good and Valet parking was free. FIRST TIMER AND NEVER GOING BACK.
