Amazing food! Their steaks are hands down the best! Portions are well over than expected! Has a 1930’s look which I truly love and feel like this place takes passion and pride in everything they do. Would recommend this to anybody, and any occasion.
My son’s 18years birthday. Really bad experience with top rated steak house. Seating their almost three hours dinner and only can see our waiter a few times with a call. Bad services and no taste on their beef. Usually don’t order a dish call alborne, cost you $69, taste like garbage.
Amazing experience and food
The service and ambiance - excellent! Food was good - unfortunately, our party was there for the Crab - but, the restaurant had NONE! We were surprised as Crab is one of the signature dishes on the menu! That was the only "sore" spot for the evening. Our party ordered steak which was great and very well cooked and flavorful. Highly recommend the Crispy Potatoes and Vegetables - love, love, loved this dish - especially the crispy potatoes and yams!
Sadly disappointed. I've been looking forward to eating at this steak house and finally went on a Saturday night. First, the ambiance was that of a diner. Diner booths, bright lights, zero intimacy. I could overlook the ambience if the service and food was great but that was not the case. Very tacky that they offered bread on the menu for $0.95. Either include it or don't. The staff did not seem well trained. They did not have the typical service skills you would expect at a nice steakhouse. The waiter did not seem educated on the menu or helpful when selecting items. The bussers awkwardly interrupted while trying to put food down and take plates away. The food was not good. We started with shrimp and mussels that were nothing special. I got a petite filet mignon which tasted more like a hamburger than a nice piece of steak. My boyfriend enjoyed his bone-in filet, the only highlight of the meal. The sides were small portion and not good. I was excited for the creamed spinach which was not creamy and also included onions which were over powering and not a flavor I like. I would not have ordered them had I known it had onions. The mac and cheese and potatoes were bland. Really disappointed in the whole experience. This should not be on any list of top steakhouses in SF.
This place is O so good! (Has someone said that before?) it’s a gem of a restaurant with great steaks, seafood and sides inside an elegant Art Deco space. The staff is extremely professional and welcoming. Our bartender was most personable and helped pick a stunning mix from their many bourbons. We would have eaten at the bar but wanted one of the cool booths with frosted glass panels separating you and the other beautiful people. If you want a steak, the bone-in ribeye is “big” as stated but more than enough for two. And they offer free valet parking?!? Where can you get that in San Francisco?
If you’re in the mood for a beautiful spot atop Nob Hill and are craving meat, try Osso.
Took my lovely wife to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary. The food (bone in ribeye) was delicious!! The wine selection was a plus and the staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Jeff, the Server was outstanding! And the fillet was one of the best I have ever had! Met the chef and thanked him for a great job!
Worst experience ever. Was seated right away but it took 15 minutes before anyone came to my table. I finally ordered a martini with scallops appetizer and main course of a ribeye and half a crab. The martini took 15 minutes to arrive and the scallops another 20 minutes. When the scallops arrived, the server said the plate was hot. The plate was hot but the scallops were cold and very small. I asked the waiter for water and he sent a busboy over with a hot pint glass and poured water at the table. Basically a lukewarm glass of water. Now after waiting another 45 minutes for my ribeye and crab, I found out the waiter forgot to put the order in. The place wasn't even crowded and it was a Friday night (that should have been the first sign). The place is overpriced and is basically a terrible "steakhouse:" in a hotel lobby. I left without ever getting my steak or crab. I wasn't the only one who walked out that night...another couple also complained and left for the same reasons. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. GOD AWFUL, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!
What an amazing evening, and I am so happy I could take my parents there for the first time. The food was exceptional as always. I was also impressed by the great attention to detail shown by the waitstaff. We can’t wait to come back again! Thank you OSSO!
Osso's is by far our favorite steakhouse in the Bay Area. The food is excellent and the wait staff is very attentive and friendly.
Excellent dinner with great pupil clients. Wait staff was exceptional and the food was excellent as usual.
Delicious steak. Great twice baked potato. Attentive service. Comfortable seating
Simply fabulous, from service to food to ambience. U
Delicious food and attentive staff. Steaks were cooked to perfection. The bread is delicious and the potatoes...omg I have to figure out how to make them!
When we arrived at our reservation time we waited quite a while for a table - then once seated we waited over 10 minutes before someone even greeted us and filled our water. Our food was not prepared how we requested (extremely rare when we requested medium-well and medium). When we asked for the meat to be cooked further, the kitchen cooked the meat until it was charred on the outside and beyond well done. Very disappointing experience. Our server was very apologetic but was dealing with far more tables then he should have been to offer proper service. They were also out of the first two beers we requested from their menu. We tried to talk with the manager but were told he was talking with another customer who was vocalizing bad dining experience. Um, ok. We emailed the restaurant and have not heard back.
Too pricey for lack of quality . Very unfriendly staff. Food was sub par.
We think our server was dealing with too many tables. He liked very frazzled. The meat was a little undercooked and the calamari and fried onions tasted exactly the same. We lived the tomato salad. Our buzz boy did a great job keeping our waters full and cleaning our table.
Over priced mediocre food, the restaurant is nice, better food Texas Roadhouse, House of Prime Rib or Flemmings. Group of 7 all 7 were disappointed, that should tell you something.
Ive always been a skeptic of restaurants that are located inside a hotel building. Osso didnt change that stigma. Osso was recommended by a local, who we asked for the best spot to eat in SF.
We were able to get a table via opentable so upon arriving we were sat right away. The decor and ambiance had that "old time steakhouse" feel. Dimly lit, dark carpets, white table clothes and green lamp shades. Servers were dress in black suits and ties. Ive dined at over 20 different steakhouses high end and low and i didnt feel like i was in a high end establishment... more upper middle.
We ordered a round of drinks and it took a out 20 minutes for it to arrive and one drink was missing, when asked about it the server said "its coming." He took our orders and we waited for 15 more minutes and we finished our first round of drinks and asked for another plus the missing drink and the server said "bar is really backed up but its coming."
Appetizers came out, the chorizo cheese bread was pretty good and the calamari was done nicely.
About another 30 mins had pas before second round of drinks came but still missing one drink. Which was eventually brought out with the meals.
Steak portions are well priced and huge. $60 for a 30 oz bone in ribeye is a steal of a deal. It was cooked well for its size but lacked flavor. My friend has the petite filet mignon and his was very bland. Side items at $6 - $8 each isnt worth it because its just about two scoops of food which is hardly wnough to share.
No one ever came back to see how things were going, if the food came out right, if we needed anything else. Overall, its an okay spot at best to share a steak and some sides if youre wanting an above average steakhouse with some what of a "high end" appeal. But based upon other choices in the area - if you dont need to budget there are much better choices and id bet the service is impeccable compared to our first and last experience.
We called thirty minutes prior to our reservation to advise we were running late, the hostess said it was ok, she understood. Had she told us, "If your not here on time, we will give up your table" we would've went elsewhere. We had a party of 6 and were here for my boyfriends birthday. The food was great! The hostess sucked and was rude upon arrival, the manager complained that we were too late and we waited for 45 minutes for a table. We asked for her to bring us Ice to chill our champagne She brought us a bucket which had too much water and overspilt on the entire table including on the birthday boy. Smh. They cleaned the water and failed to bring us a new bucket of ice. Shame, the food was amazing but the service wasnt all that.
Whatevera you do please try the chorizo chews bread....soooo good
I have been to Osso with my family several times. I’m sad to say I think this will be our last. The service was “old school”. It seemed to be a bit misogynistic - which was thoroughly disappointing. It was as though our waiter was just going through the motions the entire evening. Thank goodness the company was good because our waiter was aloof and checked out. While our steaks were enjoyable, the sides were forgettable. With all the choices for steak in the city I would recommend you try another steak house and get service that is worthy of a $500 dinner tab for four.
It was divine. One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Exquisite elegant excellent service. Classy.
This was hands down the best experience and food I’ve had. Loved every bit, including the waiters in tuxedoes. Can’t wait to go back!
The food here never disappoints, which is why we keep coming back. Steaks are amazing. The roasted vegetables are the best I've ever had. Skillets are excellent...and the chorizo cheese bread skillet is wonderful. You definitely need to save your appetite because there are so many yummy choices. The only downside has been the service. We've been here 3 or 4 times and I'd say its 50/50 on the service we received. The service isn't outright terrible....but this last time our entrees were very delayed. Shouldn't take 2.5-3 hours for dinner unless you're doing an extensive tasting menu. I really hope this doesn't get worse because we really enjoy everything else.
Personally. This was one step above Olive Garden. The staff was unorganized and it looked like they had the cooks serving at one point based upon their appearance. It took almost an hour to be seated and I had reservations. Mind you, we had to wait almost 15 min to have the car parked by valet. The floors were slippery so if you’re someone who wears heels, just don’t because I almost slipped several times. After being seated, it took over 15 min to receive water. Then another 40 min to have our orders taken. The main server who appears to be Italian is incredibly pretentious, so be prepared for a snooty attitude at a mediocre place. On top of that, my filet minion was not impressive. I will never come here again.
Great experience, although I addressed it was a birthday in my reservation but had to go up to another server to address my occasion.
Very poor service felt very rushed from the beginning and throughout service.
We had dinner here as our "late-Valentine's Day" celebration and received everything we were looking for. From the courteous waiters to the extremely attentive hostess, we were treated with the attention we wanted. My only negatives with Osso are the decor and the way drinks are served. Maybe I don't have enough experience to say, but I had my first moscow mule in a water glass. The decor was nice, just seems like it needs a serious update. Overall, great spot to eat and the steaks are incredible. Will be back soon
Food was great. Service was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. After the waiter (Khalid L) took our food order, we never saw him again. My wife was trying to order another drink during the meal...nothing. He never checked in during our meal. The bus staff was good. Even after our leftovers were boxed up, the waiter continued to ignore us. It was obviously he was paying more attention to tables of 6 or more people with a guaranteed 20% tip. I had to walk up to the host table to track down the manager to get my check (two sides were comp’ed, but didn’t really make up for the terrible experience). Numerous tables around us were all experiencing the same poor service as the manager had to make his rounds and speak with each table in this waiter’s area. The waiter then took my credit card and came back with spoons. He continued to bring an ice cream with a lit candle (we were not celebrating anything). I declined it and requested he return my credit card so we could leave. There is no excuse for a $200+ meal to be accompanied with such poor service. I will never return and would never recommend Osso Steakhouse to anyone. It is unfortunate too, because the food was good. Very disappointed
wonderful steak and abalone. Great side dishes. Corkage charge only $10
Good food. Service not as good as in past visits. Lipstick on glass and service slow and waiter seemed uninterested in us.
Great service, even better food. Nice ambiance and free valet made accessability perfect.
Came here for Valentine’s Day. Had a reservation for 5:30 got seated when we got there not much people at the time. Ordered the filet minon my fiancé order the petite filet. We also had a bottle of wine food was good came out at a decent time Steak was cooked perfectly the sauce was delicious as well however, are server the worse part of the dinner. He saw our wine glasses empty didn’t even acknowledge or bother to refill our glasses he just walked right pass out table like he didn’t see it were over here like seriously? There was no table touches at all. With a restaurant of this caliber you would expect decent service unfortunately you get the service of a fast food restaurant even the busboys did a better job then our server. Advice Teach your servers the right ways of being a server.
Wouldn’t come back here again.
The steak and the mushrooms were good, but otherwise all the food was underwhelming. We also got calamari fritti and the brussels sprout chips, which were mediocre. The waitstaff were attentive at first but seemed to have forgotten about us once the main dishes were served.
Food was amazing, dining room was extremely bright, we had to ask 3 times (3 separate staff members) for the lights to be dimmed which finally they did. They brought the wrong dish to our table twice. I would request front room seating over the back room which was not as nice.
The service was unacceptable. After being at this restaurant for 2hrs, we were only served our appetizers while other diners enjoyed entrees and desserts. After speaking to our server and the manager, we left without dinner. Overall, we will not be returning to this establishment.
