One of the only restaurants that I've ever been to and enjoyed everything I ate. Food was exceptional.
Waiter did not bring us waters, we ordered drinks, and our drinks came out after the food was ordered. Waiter did not seem to know what was going on. Food was cold when it arrived at the table. Strip steak was tough as leather. I would never recommend this to anyone.
Best steak in SF. Service is throwback steakhouse complete with tuxedoed waiters. Unfortunately their signature chorizo cheese bread is off the menu. Too bad!
This is clearly a classic, old-school type of steakhouse. The waitstaff are all in suits and bowties and the steaks are large, dry-aged and delicious. I am originally from Chicago and we pride ourselves on our steakhouses; this one is excellent.
We have been here many times and the food is consistently good. Sometimes, however, the service is lacking but NOT this time. John was our waiter and he was very attentive and helpful. You can't beat the steaks here if you are a meat eater but, if not, there are these yummy garlic noodles that you can have with a protein like crab or shrimp.
Definitely a fine dining experience in a 40's retro designed atmosphere. We always go here for special occasions.
Very nice place..... Good food..... Served not like it should be..... Most places in st cannot serve food hot....sad
Kitchen is good but service horrible. Too bad, it’s an Art Deco restaurant but they need to understand not only tourists come, they shouldn’t treat anyone badly.
The price is high but if they delivered, it would be a nice gem.
I felt robbed!
Excellent steak, and lamb chops. Caesar and kale salads were a healthy and tasty start. Sides of potatoes, mushrooms and asparagus were simply and tastily prepared salted caramel cake and panecotta were nice finales to a delicious meal.
The food was great, the service was great. The only draw back was finding a parking spot which took us 30 min. My whole experience was well worth it.
Classy all around. Good food and ambience. My husband and I choose Osso for visits with our son. It’s festive but quiet enough to enjoy conversation with each other.
This Steakhouse is the best! Every entree and side on the menu is excellent! The service is amazing and very attentive. Enjoy!
The ambience was great, the service was great, and the food was even better. Thanks Osso for making our 42nd wedding anniversary special.
Our meal was amazing!! Best bone in ribeye and filet mignon ever. Highly recommend, was a great date night before Beach Blanket Babylon!!
The filet was as incredible as the beauty of the location. Very nice wine list too. Highly recommend Brussels sprouts, asparagus and onion straws for the sides. Do not recommend the Mac and cheese. Price point was decent for San Francisco
This place had the appearance of an upscale steakhouse, and it lived up to that appearance both with its food and its service! The food was great, even though many of the proportions looked quite big, and the service was great, too! I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great steak in San Francisco!
I love Osso! What a fabulous way to spend Easter Sunday dinner. Good food, good company and exceptional service. Wonderful!
Osso was outstanding. I reviewed them on Trip Advisor and complimented how well the manager assisted a jerk customer. The “customer is always right” did not apply to this whining piece of trash.
Nice little hidden gem in the city. Great location if you're going to the theater too.
Our server was outstanding, not only was he funny & friendly he had some really great suggestions.
We had the crab sandwich & the garlic pasta, Fantastic. Another great item on the menu is the brussel sprout chips.
Sean was amazing and made sure my every wish was granted! Glad to see a true fine dining experience is back “on the hill”. We will be back!!! Oh and the hostess that sat us made sure we had our wing back leather seats and found a way to have my phone charged!!
Omg the Cheese Bread!! See you again soon Sean!

Definitely the best filet mignon I have ever had.... but first GET THE BREAD to start with. It is soft, with the perfect crust and nice and warm. Mmmmmm. But back to meat. I got the petit filet cooked medium rare and it was definitely more closer to the rare side, but there was absolutely no fat or gristle and it was like butter in my mouth. The chef was kind enough to steam some cauliflower and broccoli for me without any butter or oil and it was cooked perfect.
My hubby got the bone-in filet and he said it was good but there was a little gristle and having to contend with the bone was not worth it. Next time he would just get the petit filet like me. Hubby got the twice baked potato as a side and ate it all. He also got the Creme Brûlée Cheesecake. Disappointed that the brûlée'd top was not crunchy. It was like the sugar was brûlée'd a day or two ago and then put in the fridge and got soft. They should wait to add the brûlée until it's ordered.
Overall a great dinner. Service was okay. We weren't that impressed with our server. He was just kind of odd. Expensive but worth it. With wine our total was $240.
The service was excellent. The waiter and other staff moved in and out without any disruptions. We were placed in a Yurt like structure in a corner. We were five family members who could hang out together in the quiet of our own conversations. Steak was excellent except my new york cut was best near the bone.
Average, overall. Except for the price. Food was great, drinks ok, service lacking. Don't let the tablecloths and suited waiters fool you. We were seated in the first booth nearest the entrance. I'm not sure if it was the AC running or cold air coming from the open doors, but it was not a comfortable meal. Food was cold before we were finished eating because of the cold, blowing air. Server passed our table many times without offering another drink, although my glass had been empty nearly the entire hour we were there. No dessert for us, we were dying to get out of there. Free valet, good food. That's the best of it.
I made a reservation for 7 people for a business dinner. They gave us their small private room off of the bar area which allowed us to discuss business over dinner. Everything was great from pre-dinner drinks with the fabulous bartender to excellent food and service during dinner. I would definitely recommend for a business dinner.
Best meal out in a long time! Great service, amazing food... it was a pleasure and a real treat.
Everything was great - My ribeye was amazing! My only complaint is that they don't have baked potatoes, just dinky half baked potatoes. Overall a great steak joint, and I will go again.
Amazing food and service!
I was staying at a nearby hotel and was looking for a good steak. Very happy to have found Osso and was not disappointed in any way. Being a Sunday night, it was quiet but the restaurant was probably 70% full. The recommendations for the steak, soup and sides were on point. They got me a dessert which wasn't on the menu when I asked for ice cream, that made me very happy.
The New York steak was perfectly cooked, medium rare, the way it should be. I liked the way the juices were retained so that the steak wasn't dry. I can't remember the name of the wine, it was a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley. Being alone, I ordered a glass and it was very good for a wine that's served by the glass.
I'll definitely return in future and would recommend Osso to friends.
Very expensive for what you get. Small portions, mediocre taste. The menu needs a revisit, and the waiter should have probably asked more questions. Won’t be back
Though pricey..food was excellent and the service was very good
We were promptly seated, the waiter came, introduced himself and offered us beverages. We enjoyed our delicious cocktails while we decided on our order. This is difficult because everything here is delicious!! Bone-in filet - OUTSTANDING!! Shrimp, mussels & crab appetizer - DELICIOUS. Mixed roasted veggies & potatoes - PERFECTION. Can't wait to go back.
My first time at Osso but my last. Got tickets to a concert next door at the Masonic and it seemed like a good idea to go to Osso before the show. I wouldn't hesitate to return in the future. Food was great as was the service.
Osso was the perfect place for a birthday celebration dinner before enjoying a performance next door at The Masonic. I'll definitely plan to come back to try more of the Chef's recommendations and enjoy another delicious evening on the town! Osso truly is a gem of SF!
Overall a very nice restaurant with all the touches you’d expect from a high end steak house. My husband and I had the bread, oysters, asparagus soup & twice baked potato. All was good. We also ordered and shared the porterhouse steak. Unfortunately, the filet was cooked well to medium well. I prefer my steak rare, but we went with the medium rare recommended by the restaurant. The flavor was good, but the meat was just so over cooked / well done and dry I couldn’t finish it. My husband’s New York was perfectly cooked which is what I would have expected from this restaurant . It was just such a disappointment on the filet and more or less ruined the meal.
we celebrated a birthday here, and really enjoyed the food. Great wine list, would recommend the fried olive appetizer. The crab bruschetta was delicious with flavor and could have been a one off, but the bruschetta bread was hard for the teeth. We all agreed the steaks were amazing. I recommend the surf and turf if you like crab with your steak. I had the amazing bone in ribeye which was enough steak for two people easily. drooling just thinking of that steak.
The food is always amazing and they did not disappoint.
If you want a date night with your significant other this is the perfect place to go. Also if you want the best Bone in Rib Eye steak in the city you must come here.
Great tasting food. Server was a bit awkward and didn't share his name once :/ The Ribeye is huge and delicious, enough to easily feed two people by itself. I would recommend getting it cooked medium vs medium rare. My wife enjoyed the pork chop. Kettle bread is lovely, soft and can easily serve four. The two of us only managed to cover half of what was provided. Great location if you're seeing a show next door at the Masonic Theatre.
