We return every chance we are in town for the filet with the yummiest sauce ever. Osso never disappoints. Looking forward to the next time already.
Enjoyed our meal, the ambience, service and Bo the bartender!!!
Bad experience. We made reservations for 6:15, because were going to the show at 8. Checked in at 6:05 and were told to have a seat. At 6:25 I asked why are we still waiting, when half of the restaurant has available tables. The manager Tiffany ignored my question and said we will be seated when a table opens up. I said what was the point of making reservations when you are holding tables for whoever and we are waiting? We were finally seated at 6:45! We got our food at 7:15 and were trying to eat it as fast as we could. The food was very expensive and out of 6 dishes, only 1 was good. One of the sides was so bad that I actually had to send it back.
Great steaks and fresh seafood. I went with the signature cut, the bone-in filet and shared fresh Dungeness crab as an appetizer. Prime beef is a great foundation but the steak came out cooked med rare and retained it’s juiciness protected by a perfect sear. Freshness of the seafood was first rate and the preparation with garlic was delicious. I find them to be more consistent than a former sister restaurant in the city.
The service and ambience were very good; however, the food was ambivalent. The salmon and NY steak were tasty, but the calamari, wedge salad, mac and cheese and the salted caramel cake were lackluster. The deep-fried calamari, usually a favorite, was greasy. The wedge salad was not really wedge-like with little bleu cheese and nothing much else. Often wedge salads I’ve eaten, have had such accompaniments like crumbled bleu cheese along with creamy bleu cheese dressing, small diced tomatoes and fried diced bacon. Not this one. The gemelli mac and cheese was bland. The cheese sauce was watery rather than creamy - boring. The salted caramel cake had some good bites and some indifferent bites. Overall, I felt this dinner for two at $250 was definitely NOT worth the money.
Dinner was fabulous and the service was excellent.
great food, service and cocktails! we will be back
Veggies were burnt. Steak way undercooked took way too long for a cocktail. Reservations at 5 pm and restaurant was closed until 5 pm. (Missed out on drinks before meal) not likely to go back ever
Very nice clean place
Over all everything was Okay. Steak was okay not great ( bone-in rib-eye ) All the sides were great and the deserts fantastic. Service was very good and pleasant. We had our steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly but i have had the same cut at less expensive bay area restaurants and enjoyed them far more
If Osso calls its self a STEAK HOUSE they have to step up their game on their most expensive cut of meat ( disappointed )
If you eat here do your home work first maybe the other cuts of meat are better. An easy fix for this restaurant and i believe anyone who has eaten here recently would agree.... OSSA !! YOU NEED SHARPER STEAK KNIVES !
Went there on Saturday night, made reservation, we were there an hour earlier and bar is completely full, they seated us early which is a good thing. First thing first, asked for water, two glasses were cracked, asked for replacement, nothing happened, asked again, not showing up, and finally someone told us they are out of glasses, WTH, restaurant out of glasses?! We brought wines to the restaurant, asked for decanter, the old French speaking waiter took my wine and returned it with wine in the decanter, never see the bottle again. So unprofessional. Then the main attraction the STEAK, I ordered a bone in ribeye steak and comes with a iron wok, the steak is huge, at least 24 to 30 oz, looks ok, and because I am sharing with my son, and the steak wasn't sliced for share, and I used the knife provided, and oh boy, it took me a while to cut half steak out for my son, it hurts my wrist, steak is very chewy, and impossible to cut for my 12 yr old. He gave up after maybe couple slices. The steak has no flavor and tasteless. And we done with two bottle of wines and one more needed to open, after working hard with my steak (1/3 untouched) and found out the third bottle of wine remain uncork. We need to chase the waiter down to get the wine popped. Overall terrible experience, never go again.
Took a while to be seated with a dinner reservation but once we were seated our waiter was attentive and quick. I love the chorizo bread appetizer. I had the lamb for my entree and my boyfriend had the filet mignon steak sandwich. Meat was cooked to perfect temp. This was our 2nd time and we are still pleased.
The fillet mignon sandwich and fried onions were fantastic. Crab cake was very good
Great service! Exceptional food!
Love Chardonnay list they have !! My favorite !!
Menu is for every taste!!
While we were there there was 1. A guy who dined and dashed 2. A physical fight between diners 3. A verbal fight between other diners 4. Steak we could have cooked at home 5. Bland side dishes 6. They refused to swipe my card because their reader said chip malfunction. Any other restaurant would have swiped the card or manually entered it, since there was no actual problem with the card. Tried another card, same situation. Third card was the charm... the waitress was the best part, as she was very nice and helpful, but overall probably won’t come back.
Great steaks. The sides need improvement but probably the best steak I’ve had in SF.
The service is wonderful & the food is delightful
As good a steak as I have eaten anywhere from New York to Chicago to Denver to Los Angeles and points in between. Have been about 5 times: bone-in filet, rib steak, New York, salads and sides are all excellent. Service is excellent - prompt without a rush, professional, friendly. They have seafood and other things that look and smell great, just haven't given any of that a chance. Quality cocktails and good wine list - you can spend as much as you want. Interior design is nice but a bit sterile, but the food takes your mind off of it. You can have a private conversation and hear each other.
Outstanding food and service. One of the best steaks I have had in a long time! Would definitely go there again!
Our meal was perfect! Especially the service. Our server made this meal incredible.
It's "old skool," free validated parked(absorbed by the restaurant), service was really good.
Honestly you can't go wrong. Anything on the menu is amazing.
The diner was awesome, but the waiter made great recommendations. We had been there before but found out about a few hidden gems from the waiter. Thanks for making our time an enjoyable one...
The steak was average. And FULL of fat. Not marbled, succulent fat, but the gross chewy kind. Definitely NOT the best steak ever!
Had a great time, Mike was very nice and he obviously cared about the comfort of his guests, but he definitely lacked training in fine dining service (not his fault). We appreciated the fact that he offered to cut our shared beef entre in the back once it arrived, nice touch.
Manager never checked on us what could've added to the service and the orderman devices the servers use are simply hideous, those hand held devices don't belong in fine dining. Overall decent experience but nothing to write home about.
Best steak ever! Service was nice and ambiance too!
It was great. I was very pleased. The chorizo bread was amazing
My wife and I celebrated a late Valentine's dinner at Osso's. We both got the bone in rib eye and all I can say is, it's enormous. We actually took it home for next day's dinner as well. Oh and yes the rib eye was delicious. We would definitely come back and try the shrimp and mussels.
I am sure most of you will not finish this review as it is very lengthy, but a small bit of background on me. I am a corporate meeting planner. Clients hires me to plan high end dinners 365 days a year. It is LITERALLY my job to know the best restaurants in town and recommend them to my client. For this dinner I took out all of my clients to a nice end-of-conference celebration after seeing and hearing amazing reviews of Osso. Taking my clients here was a HUGE mistake, one of the WORST of my 10-year career. I was so embarrassment at how incredibly terrible this experience was and I pray it does not impact the amount I am hired to book dinners. Osso has certainly been removed from our recommendations list. I could have had better service at an Outback. We had an 830pm reservation, upon being seated it took almost 25 minutes to even be greeted by our server Sean. He came back 20 minutes later with our drinks and that is when things started to go downhill. We tried to order appetizers, but were told to wait since he didn’t have time for us yet...he then proceeded to bus several tables, bring another table their food, bring another table their leftovers and check and then bussed that table too. Mind you, these are table all around us so we are sitting patiently watching him clean up when it would have taken less than 5 minutes to order the food (after all we had had 45 minutes to look at the menu BEFORE he said he would come back). Around 915pm we finally got to put our food order in. At 1030pm we got our food….we were a party of 5, three of us ordered steak medium rare and two ordered half an order of crab. I'm not sure what took an hour and 20 minutes to cook the food, but myself and my clients are all meeting planners so we cut them some slack. Until the 3 1/2 inch steaks myself and my client ordered come out WELL DONE. There is no possible way you can over cook a steak that thick. It was completely inedible and for $70 a steak and a 2 hour wait it was disappointing.
This was a celebration for my mother in laws birthday for a party of 6 and boy were we excited! We arrived for our 6:30pm reservation, were greeted with a warm welcome and were seated immediately. Once being seated we waited for over 20 minutes just to have our waiter acknowledge our table. From there it took another 10 minutes to put in drink and appetizer orders. The appetizers came before the drinks which were watered down and made incorrectly. We ordered the crab feast for the table and I must say that was delicious and cooked to perfection! The chorizo bread is also a keeper!
While enjoying our appetizers we were told that the ordering system went down and none of the orders for our entrees were submitted. The waiter came and wrote all of our orders by hand and took them to be made. By this time we’d already been in this restaurant for well over an hour. I noticed that everyone that was seated in our section had enjoyed their dinners and left. While my party of 6 sat, waited and even began to see the second wave of customers come in for dinner. Once dinner was served not all of our food came out together. The guest of honor (mother in law) waited 15 minutes for her sandwich and when it arrived it was cold. They were kind enough to remake it fresh and took it off of our bill.
Although the service was extremely subpar for such a high end restaurant the food made up for it. The bone in ribeyes were fabulous, the kettle baked crispy chicken amazing and the grilled veggies added a nice flavor to the main courses. This was not my first time in this restaurant and it could have been they were just having a short staffed evening which lead to the less than desirable service. The food is is so tasty I’m sure my husband and I will be back! I do recommend trying this place if you’re a steak lover. You will not regret it.
Our server Denise was very knowledgeable, polite and provided professional service. We have enjoyed a few meals at Osso and this ranks up there with the best of them.
I usually love this restaurant but they crammed too many tables together in the back room and I kept getting tripped over all evening. Service took forever!
Steaks were excellent, service not so much. They said they would split up a Cesar salad for us but never came back to do it. Vegetables weren't outstanding enough to warrant big extra price.
Excellent food! Service was just ok, not sure if our server was being pulled in several directions but it seemed service was shared among the wait staff. The wine was on the warm side so for a wine lover I have to call this out as not a positive. It felt a bit rushed, too, which I get the rents in SF must be crazy! Love, love the food. The salmon was perfection.
Staff was friendly, courteous. Food was good.
We attended Osso’s for Valentine’s Day and was highly disappointed. Being that it was Valentine’s Day it wasn’t overly crowded or busy which was nice, but we had a reservation and they sat us in the far back corner when there were better seating options that stayed open for our entire dinner. When our food came out, both of the steaks we ordered were overly charred to the point where it over powered the taste of the steak. When we expressed this to the waiter he didn’t offer to take it back to the kitchen or take it off the bill being that we barely ate either of the steaks. When the bill came we noticed that we didn’t get one of the sides that we ordered but was still charged for it. Overall we were highly disappointed with the food and the service as we were looking forward to a nice valentines dinner. I would not recommend or come back to this restaurant.
We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant (gay couple) marrow table with little room to get by waiter bumped us or the table numerous times. All the other straight couples were placed at 4 seated tables while we were seated at a 2 seated table and there were plenty of larger tables open when we were seated. Others were waited on before us even though we were there before them. The service improved during the meal. The food was good but not outstanding, my partner’s requested his steak medium-well and it was not as coon as my medium steak. They served the wrong desert but the waiter took care of that issue.
