Why didn’t we get points for this reservation?
Oso is a bar restaurant with not much in the way of ambiance. I had to send back my chicken dish as it arrived cold. It took awhile before it was brought back. However, I must rave about how delicious it was with the couscous, dried fruit and salad. And enough left over for lunch the following day. The cook sent over a nice dessert complimentary to compensate for the meal that was cold. My husband had the mussels which had a delicious sauce. So, if you don’t care about the ambiance, Oso is a good local restaurant to visit in downtown Sonoma.
This restaurant is right on Sonoma square. It has a fun rustic atmosphere and high-quality food.
Service and food were exquisite!
I went back because their Thai Pork ribs are just outstanding!!! I brought a friend to turn him on to this dish. He too, loved it! Yay chef.
Four of us went to Happy Hour which lasts until 6 pm (nice). Had Blood Orange Margueritas (very nice). Deviled eggs excellent, Ceviche with avocado excellent, BBQ Taco outstanding. Highly recommend. We'll be back!
The food was amazing! We were celebrating a birthday and even gave the waitress a candle and they did nothing to celebrate.
The service was outstanding. Our meals were delicious. Ambience was wonderful. Menu is small, but the choices were varied and unique.
Had a great time on a first date here. The lamb tacos were so flavorful. Also started with the burrata that had pesto on top with the chunks of grilled bread and spicy sauce on the side. Perfect to enjoy bubbles with. First class experience. Highly recommend you go!
Really great experience. Place was packed but service was great. Food came out within just minutes of ordering. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. Loved the entire experience
The Happy Hour food and drinks are excellent, good portions, and reasonably priced. Our friends especially enjoyed the Blood Orange Margaritas. OSO is our favorite place to go before the Sonma Art Walk each month!
On our first visit to Sonoma we chose to dine at OSO on night one. Very comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive. Both of our dinner choices were satisfactory and filling. We would certainly return to OSO.
Great spot with a local feel to it. The shrimp and grits were fabulous. Good local beers too.
Our first visit. Wait staff was knowledgeable about all the dishes and made great suggestions. Cocktails were yummy, and the coffee. Also knew how to make a nice Tonic and Bitters. Love the vibe and the music, but got a bit loud for lunch. The food; lamb tacos and the daily cheese appetizers were crazy delicious. I say appetizers, because the serving sizes were very small, Tapas like, but prices high. I prefer smaller servings but also prefer the price is commiserate with size. Overall really nice will go back.
Quite noisy- difficult to converse. Very pleasant staff.
Awesome experience! Food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend if you’re in Sonoma.
Great food, great service.
The food was delicious and interesting. Even my very picky daughter found some delicious items. Highly recommend the miso vegetables and sea bass.
Idea is good, but food quality is not up to the task. Tapas are "decent" without being great.
Lunch during a visit to town. Oso was a good recommendation.
Seafood stew was WAY too spicy!!! I had high expectations on that dish and left the restaurant pretty disappointed. Service and ambiance were nice.
Christmas Eve dinner was perfect!
High recommendation for the baked oysters and the butterscotch dessert
We chose to dine at the bar. Wonderful service/personality
Interesting share place
Very hearty meal. Their portion sizes were just perfect. And value for money. Didn’t get a chance to try their ligations.
Great evening, great service., great food. We shared 5 dishes between 4 of us. Lamb shoulder tacos are delish.
Great service. Delicious food. Best in Sonoma!
We had a great lunch! Our server was prompt and friendly. The food was excellent. I would definitely come back to Oso the next time I am in Sonoma!
Everything was excellent! Excellent presentation of the highest quality fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and presented very well and generously, especially the small plates! The only concern was it was a cold, wet night and it wasn't very warm there - giving the ambiance one less star!
I took my granddaughter for dinner on Friday night. We were both treated like adults and valued diners.
Preparation and presentation were imaginative and portions were perfect. Mongolian beef was accompanied by a well seasoned sauce. We shall return!
We really wanted to try to like this restaurant but it fell short almost everywhere. We walked in to an empty restaurant and a few people at the bar. The place looks sort of polished (imagine a dive bar remodeled with reclaimed wood and some artsy items on the walls). We were greeted by the hostess asking if we had a reservation then were sat at the smallest table in the empty place. I get it, we had 2 in our party so we should be seated at a 2 top but why not at least ask if we'd like a larger table or even offer anywhere we'd like in the completely empty restaurant... that started off the dinner on a strange foot. Then we ordered a couple of apps and beers to get started. Our server was polite and did a fine job however the restaurant just didn't feel comfortable. 4 of 6 oysters was fresh, 2 horrible. Deviled eggs with crab was okay. Patatas bravas was just a plate of lightly seasoned mushy potatoes with a heavy sauce. Left for a better experience.
Table to small for 5 adults. Otherwise great
The wine list is overpriced, and not that special. The food was too salty. Nice ambience and great location, though.
Great place. Loved the short rib tacos and my husband had the mussels they we amazing. Perfect portions. Service was great. Def recommend.
Food and service is always great. Consistent, warm casual place to grab dinner. We especially enjoy during the week as it is less crowded and more of a local crowd.
Two of our dishes were too spicy for my taste.
I usually like Oso but somehow this time it did not deliver for me except for the oysters.
This restaurant is a local find. The food is creative, yet familiar. For example, the deviled eggs are creamy and beautifully seasoned but also have a smattering of crab on top. The salmon toast is divine, a sandwich actually, with cheese and arugula and avocado and fried capers. The oysters were fresh and the mignonette was innovative. I keep wanting to try the tacos or the cheeseburger, but I can't get past the appetizers. My husband and I share plates and pretty soon we are full. The only downside to this restaurant (and perhaps the reason it was half empty on a very crowded Sonoma Sunday afternoon) is the inside lighting. There isn't any. It is so dark inside it feels claustrophobic. I would recommend wall lights above each table and perhaps more around the bar.
The food and cocktails here are fantastic! The Korean-style BBQ ribs might be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!
