About Osha Thai 3rd Street
Welcome to our 7th San Francisco location. Thai food emphasizes balance of ingredient flavor, texture, and seasoning and is constantly evolving (remember chili peppers originally came from the Americas!).
We offer an escape from "carbon copy" Thai restaurant menus. Our goal to serve the Bay Area's most authentic traditional Thai, as well as modern riffs using local fresh ingredients and Thai sensibilities. We offer a seasonal menu that we update monthly; stop by to check it out. Besides delighting the discerning palate, our kitchen takes pride in sophisticated presentation.
Our wine list is a labor of love. It is constantly updated with new, exciting selections that we personally like with our food. See our Wine PDF on the Menu page for a look at what kinds of wines we select.
Come in to relax and remember our staff is eager to make your time with us a wonderful experience. Don't hesitate to ask for advice or special requests.

Osha Thai 3rd Street Ratings and Reviews
When we arrived they could not find the reservation made through Open Table, even when I showed it to them on the phone. They asked us to eat in the lounge at a low, uncomfortable table in a different building. We refused and asked to wait on a table as there seemed to be several available. The hostess still asked us to go to the lounge to wait even though a perfectly good bar was available right there in main restaurant. When we finally got to the other building's "lounge," the waitress could not tell us if we would be notified when our table was ready. We finally ordered drinks to wait, but we were called to our table just as our drinks arrived (about 10 minutes). We made the long trek back to the other building and were finally seated at a bad table by the entrance. But we could not hear each other because the noise was SO unbelievably loud. The food arrived about 5 minutes after ordering and was good, but a little rushed. Overall, this is NOT a restuarant to which I will return. Incompetent service cannot be improved by relatively good food.
I've been here 3 times and this is turning out to be one of my favorite Thai dinner spots. Whether its a girls night out, date night, business meeting, or someone is town visiting and I want to show them a cool spot that's affordable, I bring them here.
its such a good spot with a nice ambience, great location, minutes away from shopping and also great Thai food that you cannot go wrong with! I highly recommend.
I have been to this location a number of times and am aware that it is part of a small chain of restaurants. It is usually quite good. I realize we were here on a busy night, but I don't know when I have ever been to this restaurant when it wasn't busy, so I am not sure if that is a contributing factor to our service on this night or not.
We had to ask multiple times to get water refills, it took a very long time to get drinks, some of which never came, some which came after the meal. There were 5 of us and the main courses came one at at time 5-8 minutes apart over the course of 25 minutes. The servers were nice enough, but this is not acceptable, even for Asian food, which does often come out at different times as the dishes are ready. The question above asks if I would recommend this restaurant to a friend, but a binary yes/ no option is not sufficient. Normally I would, but after this experience, I might reconsider. Open Table: Please consider giving a third option here of maybe/ it depends.
The service was lousy. Water and ice tea glasses were never refilled . One order of sea bass arrive 15 minutes after everyone else was served so three of us ate cold food when the fourth meal finally showed up. That really did not matter much as the food was very pedestrian and unappealing. I will never go to Osha again and will never recommend it.
First off, I was blown away by the restaurant itself. By far Osha has the most lovely of furnishings and ambiance. All of the food orders were delicious, BUT the calamari appetizer was the best ever, and I've eaten a lot of calamari over the years. I considered ordering it again for a desert but realized it was a little unnecessary. One could eat themselves into oblivion in San Francisco over a long weekend.
I ordered the Pad Thai which was tasty, but not the best I've ever had - and kind of expensive. The servers were attentive and gave great, timely service. The noise level was perfect for the group of 5 of us that arrived - we could all hear each other. The mixed drinks were really yummy.
I organized a group of four women who live outside of SF. Our usual hangouts are in Palo Alto and Redwood City. We've been to various popular restaurants for different cuisines including Thai. We shared 5 different dishes including Pad Thai, Kra Pao Kai, spring rolls. We all agreed these are the best Thai dishes!
Lovely atmosphere, as always! Bizarrely, the rice was undercooked and the green curry tasted watery...also strange was at the end, we asked a bunch of employees seated at the bar if they could please snap a pic for us...at first, no one would even look up...then one caved and got up, while another mumbled "i dont work here" (so?! you still cant hit a button for us?!), and the one closest to us got up and walked away. This is nowhere near as classy as it used to be!!"
Really enjoyed the food and the menu had a good selection of dishes for everyone in my group. Favorite was the Country Chicken. The only thing lacking was the service - it was extremely rushed and made it feel like they wanted us out of the restaurant as fast as they could. The check was on the table without asking before everyone was done with their meal and no opportunity was given to order dessert or coffee or another drink. Everyone in the party commented on this curtness. Would come back for the food but only if the service pace changes.
Service absolutely awful. We were seated by an indifferent unsmiling "hostess". Less than one minute after being seated and before we could even look at the menu, the server came to the table to take our order. She was annoyed that we weren't ready. When I asked for a gluten - free menu, she returned and gave it to my companion but not me. No one ever came to our table to see if everything was satisfactory. Literally one second after the plates were removed, she plopped the check down, saying nothing about dessert or coffee/tea. She came back 3 times within 3 minutes to collect the check. We then placed the bill as far as possible from her reach.
The food was quite ordinary and uninspired. The bathroom was dirty.
A most inhospitable place.
Happy Hour is indeed very happy! Can't go wrong with happy hour mojitos and ahi tuna. I've always loved Osha Thai, especially the original one in TenderNob. Those were my clubbin' days cuz they stayed open late. Now that I've mellowed out, I prefer lounging and Osha on 3rd is a perfect place to have some bites, drinks in hand, and lounge. Love the ambiance, can't wait to come back!
Food here is generally quite good. But today, lemongrass chicken was cloyingly sweet, too salty, and full of hard strands of lemongrass that were too larger to flavor the dish and inedible. Take a lesson from Charles Phan and hand chop your lemongrass until it is almost a powder.
The customer service for this restaurant was TERRIBLE. We had a reservation for 7pm, which we arrived on time. The host was non-existent for the 20 minutes we waited along with a line full of about 20 other diners. She was obviously overwhelmed, ran around the restaurant without addressing any of the diner waiting, and had no idea what she was doing. We ended up walking out without being seated and went to another restaurant across the street. Too bad I couldn't give ZERO stars in order to submit this review.
