Oscar's Steakhouse at the Plaza Hotel & Casino Ratings and Reviews
This was certainly the best steak and lobster I've ever eaten, and the shrimp was amazing! My husband on the other hand ordered a Well Done steak and it came out not to his liking as Med Well. He ordered WELL DONE. Would I go back there again? YES! I would give it another try because mine was perfect. Mistakes happen, but if it would ever happen again, we would not ever go back.
We were a bit underwhelmed! Our reservation was for 9:45PM upon seating us we were politely informed the kitchen was closing at 10PM.
We couldn’t order any main plates so I can’t rate them. We had several appetizers; The jumbo shrimp were more shrimp than Jumbo & tastes as though they were in cold water all night(water logged), the calamari was a generous portion but not more than that we had to add seasoning & about a third weren’t crispy. Ceaser salad was under dresses & we had barely any cheese nor croutons. The meatballs were a nice portion with a nice pomadoro sauce but not warm enough & a tad bland maybe because it was chicken meat.
All in all OK. ( beware the Fremont street view is obstructed)
After trying as many steak houses in Vegas as we could over the years, we have found our favorite at Oscars. After many visits we have had only one small issue (steak SLIGHTLY overdone) but most establishments have problems and it is how they deal with them that sets them apart. Following the overdone steak I asked to talk with the manager not to complain but to complement them on identifying and addressing the problem so quickly. Very impressive.
My husband had the lobster and shrimp cocktail and I had the bone in filet. The steak had a big vein through it, but was seasoned well and still delicious. I did not ask for another so they did not have the opportunity to make it right. The seafood was delicious, huge shrimp. Server was a little abrupt. We had fun in the bar after. All in all, delicious and we would go back for sure.
One of the best places in downtown. I have lived in Las Vegas for 19 years and this was my FIRST, yes first visit to Oscar's but will certainly NOT be my last! It was NYE and the service was impeccable and the food fantastic! I imagine any place can have it's bad days but even in the height of NYE madness this restaurant still maintained a high level of service. I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon!
We had friends in from out of town and wanted to do something different. We were impressed with Oscars. Food was great and service was wonderful. We only have two complaints 1) Can you PLEASE institute the most basic dress code of no hats and you must have on a colored shirt? It’s simple. Nothing worse than sitting next to white trash dude with a baseball hat on and a tee- shirt in a steakhouse. The other can’t really be fixed – but like most other great steak houses, you have to walk through 500 yards of $hit and white trash people on Freemont and through the lobby of the Plaza Casino to get to the restaurant. We get it. That might be part of the charm and a place like Oscars might not exist on the strip, but it’s still rough. Otherwise? A great restaurant!
Oscars was wonderful. We ordered crab cake appetizer, chopped salad with peppercorn ranch dressing and 12 ounce filet with the crab stuffed shrimp. Each item was prepared superbly. The steak had a nice crunchy edge on it and was cooked perfectly inside. The baked potatoe was huge with just enough fixings. This is not our first time there and we will return. The service was excellent and you get to look at the end of Fremont street while dining. Every item was amazing. Sorry no picture of the steak we dove right into it.
Our waiter Bob was great! The crab cakes were delicious. My prime rib was perfect and my husband filet was spot on. The tables are a little close together and a big wedding party moved in behind us, but still the romantic dinner out we were looking for. In our top five favorite steakhouse so far for Las Vegas.
Although this restaurant is attached to the most unlikely hotel to speak of, dining is an absolute pleasure. Once inside, you're transported into a 5-star establishment. The food is marvelous, the wait staff are polite and accommodating, and the ambiance is great. Everything we've tasted was superb. Whenever I'm in Vegas I try to eat there.
Best prime rib I ever had. Waiter was very matter factly almost to the point of condescending when asking him questions. The assistant server was amazing. So on point with getting anything we asked and refreshing or drinks. It's expensive but worth it. Had dinner on Christmas eve.
To start, the restaurant was way to hot in there. We had fabulous seating in the rotunda. The waitress was really helpful and nice. They brought out water and our drinks and took our order.
I was surprised to here they didn’t have a chef off the menu nightly specials. The waitress recommended the lamb chops stating there were four lamb chops on my plate. When I got them they were small and extremely fatty. I was lucky to get two bites of lamb chops of each piece. Two people have the prime rib which they loved it looked delicious. Another person had the salmon which she said was really good. We had the calamari as an appetizer which was a nice portion for all of us.
I tend to run hot and just was miserable. I decided to take my dinner home with me. However the people I was with tend to run cold and they were even hot. I definitely was not dressed for winter either. Customer service was wonderful and it was overall a really quiet in there because they didn’t have many people in there that evening. I thought the prices were way too high and I don’t like ordering everything À la cart. Too expensive for being in “The Plaza.” The casino absolutely stinks of cigarette smoke and you have to walk through all that to get to the restaurant. That’s such a turn off for me. If you go I hope you can enjoy it better than I did. Only great thing about it is that I was with my family and we enjoyed each other‘s company regardless...
Happy New Year.
It's the beef! They have a signature tomahawk steak for two. Order it medium-rare. It comes with a big rib attached to it - pretty awesome looking as it arrives at the table. More than enough for two people. Also don't forget to order it Oscar style - with lump crab meat and sliced asparagus on top - really sets off the meat. Corn brulee as a side is tops. Appetizer crab cakes are probably the best and most generous I've seen anywhere. Fried calamari is also good and generous. Service was great.
We've been interested in dining at Oscar's since the restaurant opened six years ago. A Travelzoo offer finally provided ample incentive. Located in the Plaza Hotel and Casino, Oscar's has a great view of downtown Las Vegas; when the construction around the old Las Vegas Club is completed, the view should be even nicer. We started off with happy hour drinks and the crab cakes. The crab cakes are a restaurant favorite for good reason: two big cakes, lots of lump crab meat, a great happy hour price. We could easily have had a happy hour dinner at the bar since the prices are reasonable and the servings are large--but on to the dinner. Prices are standard for a Las Vegas fine dining steakhouse. We had the bone-in ribeye and the planked salmon. Both were excellent, perfectly cooked and flavorful. The salmon was accompanied by a split artichoke heart and tomatoes--a very nice touch. We went with the three side dishes for 22 dollars: baked potato, Brussels sprouts, asparagus. All were excellent. We added on grated Parmesan cheese and bacon for the potato, well worth the small additional price. Dessert was the deep dish chocolate cookie. It requires an additional 11 minutes because it's baked fresh, but the result was worth the wait. What a decadent treat: hot and gooey, the way a fresh-baked cookie should be. Service throughout, from the bartenders to our table staff, was attentive and professional. As locals, we now intend to make Oscar's one of our go-to restaurants for happy hour and dinner.
The restairant is at end of Freemont experoence in a circular glass structure. It is an old style quality steak house. The owner was at the bar greeting anyone who would spproach. It was a class joint reminiscent of old vegas whicj I love. I had the 40 punce steak with asparagus and brussel sprputs. It was fantastic. The staff was first raye and my waitress was very good. Great experoence.
Our evening was perfect! Great steaks and great value! Was my husbands birthday and a group of five total. Everyone was very pleased. Service was excellent. Great Dirty Martini, and BEST wedge salad I have ever had. Steaks cooked to perfection. Stayed at Cesar's and wanted to dine away from the crowds. The Ambience was exactly what we were looking for. Definitely will go back next visit.
