Oscar's at the Museum - Birmingham Museum of Art
Executive Chef Lorrin Rames was trained by some of the best chefs in America. The upscale, fresh and local food we prepare nicely complements a light-filled open dining room offering a splendid view of trees and the award-winning Red Mountain Garden Club Memorial Garden.
Visitors may enjoy our outstanding menu Tuesday through Friday for lunch, and may enjoy our musical brunch on select Sundays. Please check the Museum calendar for dates and details.
More than just a cafe at a Museum, Oscar's is truly a destination in itself. We invite you to come and see.
Wonderful as always!
As always the music and great food make attending brunch here worth while. I try to make it out as often as I can. I recommend attending Jazz brunch here anytime you can.
Great food. Wonderful staff.
Everything on the buffet was OUTSTANDING!! And the service was impeccable...Kudos to Mr. Cobb and team who exhibited the utmost in professionalism...It was the best dining experience any father could have...Can’t wait until next year.
The Sunday brunch is outstanding! There are a great number of meat and vegetable choices... either lunch or breakfast. Service is good. And be sure to save room for dessert.
Fathers Day for my husband. It was the perfect lunch
Despite my reservation made through Open Table, Oscar's was CLOSED when we arrived. I would recommend calling direct, if possible, or calling the Museum where it is located, before going since they obviously didn't communicate they would not be serving lunch that day due to a set up for an evening program. This was not a sudden unexpected closure either, as the evening program had been on their schedule for some time. My Open Table reservation was worthless.
The food was great. Phil was our server and was extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, we were having a business discussion during lunch when a large group of children was released into the dining room with little guidance and it was very loud for 10 or so.
Mother's Day brunch was lovely as usual. This was our family's 3rd annual Mother's Day brunch at Oscar's and I think my mother would be disappointed if we didn't do this every year. As always the food was outstanding and the music was wonderful. Looking forward to spending Father's Day there as well.
What a special place to go for Mother's Day lunch. You are greeted like family and the chef explains where things are; the waiters make sure your drink never runs dry. The space itself is absolutely gorgeous and just makes you feel good to be there, and the live saxophone music added to the ambiance. And the food!! Incredible selection, and everything was fresh and scrumptious. We've also gone here for Easter brunch as well (waited too late this year) and there is no where I'd rather go for a holiday brunch. My favorite is always the deviled eggs. Note it is also possible to stay on a healthy diet here as there are many choices including healthy ones.
The only problem we had was one of our party is in a motorized wheel chair, the woman is a quadriplegic and controls her chair with a straw. We hadn't mentioned this on our reservation and for some reason they had us seated at the farthest back table in a very long restaurant where she would have had to maneuver through all the chairs and tables, which would have been quite impossible. I told the front desk person and they got another person and then finally the manager came out and he agreed to put us at an empty table up front, he was not too pleasant about it at first and made a big point of telling me that I should have let them know in advance. In the future I will know to do that, but he had plenty of empty tables so I still fail to see what his problem was. The rest of the meal went well, the servers were wonderful, the food was good and the manager was very nice and friendly by the time we left. We would definitely go back and send friends.
My leadership team had a great visit to the museum and a wonderful lunch at Oscar's. Christian took great care of us, going above and beyond as he served us a delicious lunch. Birmingham is blessed to have a beautiful, creative space in which to meet and eat!
I went for Easter brunch. The staff and waiters were prompt and great about checking on us. The food was incredible. It was buffet and they had a large variety for every palate. Not too loud either. Wonderful experience!! I will definitely be back.
while we were the ones making (light) noise and merriment until the high school group came in, it is ALWAYS fun to have lunch at Oscar's. a group of 10 came to see specific art and have lunch to end a study we have been in this spring. the food was beautiful (so beautiful we passed a few things around to see more closely how they were constructed, delicious (we had a sharing plate or two or three), and were well taken care of. Oscar's is where I take out-of-town guests, meet friends for lunch, and introduce folks to the museum - despite the construction around it, a wonderful experience!
The staff was so friendly.
Was a bad rain storm day so the crowd was thinning out at the time of our 12:30 reservations.
Music was delightful. Wait service was attentive but my waiter lingered at my table a bit to long talking to us. Plates were slow to be picked up. Drinks came quick enough.
The brunch buffet is always so good. Diverse selections and beautiful presentations. And always so delish!
The Jazz Brunch was wonderful! The food was plentiful, and delicious, and the Jazz combo was delightful. Although there was music we could still hear each other at our table. My friends and I decided to do this Sunday Jazz Brunch again soon!
Great service, menu seems to be up and down. Some great, others good, still others not so good.
Fantastic! Just perfect for Sunday Brunch! Can’t wait till next time.
I think there's room for improvement but the menu offered something for everyone and the food was good. I very much enjoyed the music and feel it teeters on being a wonderful experience but something is lacking.
Our dining experience was very enjoyable. The service and the food were very good. At brunch we were entertained with jazz which was great and added to the total experience.
Great Brunch! The Food Is Spectacular
Took in the monthly brunch buffet...always good food and lots of it. It’s a bit pricey but good. Service was all right.
Wonderful service and a pleasant variety of entrees. The lobster pot pie was super tasty.
I use Oscar's for my annual lunch get together with friends. It never disappoints me.
Enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere. I will be returning in the future. Thanks.
My husband and I ate here for one of the Sunday brunches. It was really good. Plenty of selections and everything was so very good. We will go back!
We have a great Time with the red Mountain choir
Great food Chef Lorin are the best
I was expecting a better selection of pastries and artisanal breads.

Music was good but too loud since there are no sound buffers
Our group of 12 ate lunch here after our docent tour. Food was really good--creative combinations, well-seasoned, and the service was outstanding. Thanks for an enjoyable meal.
I actually went two days in a row with different friends and both meals were delicious on each day. Service was friendly and attentive.
This was the first time @Oscar’s for me. My wife had eaten there before and totally enjoyed her experience. We were running errands and she talked me into going. I am glad I said “ yes”. This was one of the best experiences for lunch I have ever had. I have eaten all over the world. The service was fantastic and the food had a great taste from the appetizer of lobster corn dogs to the desert of banana pudding. This will not be my last time @Oscar’s. Congratulations to all the staff for a great experience.
One word - fabulous, fabulous, fabulous, fabulous and morefabulous
I love the Sunday brunches. The only thing is didn't like was being seated in that back room, felt isolated. Food is alway good!
Father’s Day buffet—everything was well prepared—nothing was “stale” and all tasted freshly prepared and flavorful. Choices are overwhelming, especially the desert table, but once I made my choices (and I made a lot of them—modestly, of course) I was not disappointed. The museum is a wonderful place to dine and view. Music was fantastic. An altogether wonderful way to spend part of my day. (The service could not have been better)
Food was great but service was a bit slow. The place is always packed on Sunday and is a great place to go.
Excellent display of food: the smoked salmon just kept coming. The seasonal specials of shrimp with pork belly and heirloom tomatoes, sweet potato salad and slaw with bacon and blue cheese were amazing. The desert variety was overwhelming, so we had a bite of each; all were delicious, but but bananas foster and the rainbow cake were my favorites. There seemed to be a shortage of wait staff to bring coffee, mimosas, water refills , etc.; otherwise- perfect.
