Staff is very nice and efficient
Mediocre at best. We were expecting something special for the barbecue but no such luck. It wasn’t bad, but not going back
Osaka is just so perfect. The uniqueness of the choices combined with Japanese standards always has something new and something for comfort. Mike, the sushi chef is simply outstanding in his abiltiy to explain exactly what is available.
Food was excellent in taste. Service was great as well. Did not like being nickeled and dimed though. Was charged $1 for each set of crunchy crumbles put on my sushi without being told about the increased cost.
Get your restaurant organized
I dont know if they were really busy or just clueless. Took at least 15 minutes to get drinks.wanted to leave then...shame we did not. Canceled our korean bbq before it arrived. Two of us ordered korean bbq and one salad was served. Across from us was the owner having a good time...eating large portions and him not gaf about anyone else. Table across from us did leave after drinks.
Was very nice Birthday party
We like Osaka. Food is tasty with some different Japanese choices. It is a bit pricey but taste of food I guess makes up for that.
The restaurant was very big!
The sushi selection was delicious and they had a very nice variety of special rolls.
The service was very good!
This was our first time at Osaka and it wasn’t quite what we expected. The description on OpenTable mentioned hibachi so we were expecting the usual communal hibachi tables where the chef comes out to cook in front of you. Instead, the individual tables had grills in the middle for Korean BBQ. We like Korean BBQ, so no big deal. We ordered a few different sushi rolls and really enjoyed them. My son also enjoyed his BiBimBap. We also ordered a few different meats for BBQ. Those we were not as impressed with. We will come back, but for sushi and other dishes, not Korean BBQ. I’d rather go to a Korean BBQ restaurant for that. Also, service left a lot to be desired. The server mentioned they had a new chef, but it took forever for anything to come out and get a drink refill. She mentioned the BBQ came with white rice, but we asked several times and never received.
2nd visit here in recent weeks, a great find. Love the menu choices of Japanese foods (incl.sushi) & the BBQ cook-it-yourself. Absolutely love the hot stone rice bowls! Great fresh ingredients give a wonderful taste & experience. Quality service too. Highly recommended, give it a try....
Always a great time. Can’t beat the sushi.
I’ve often come here for excellent sushi in the main dining room and a couple times with the kids for hibachi. We recently made reservations for ourselves and two guests for hibachi and like other reviewers, we were surprised to learn upon arrival that the room is now a Korean BBQ. As we love Korean BBQ, we were happy to try it.
The place was very empty, which was a bad sign. The banchan were skimpy and we had to continually ask for more - a very bad sign. The menu said five items were provided with the bbq and that was exactly it - five banchan dishes for the TABLE of four diners, NOT per person ordering the BBQ, and they clearly had no idea of replenishing them.
A tablespoon or so of kimchi or bean sprouts just doesn’t go far with four adults. Two mushroom caps. Six lettuce leaves are not enough for four adults to make wraps. When I asked for more, we got four more leaves - one per person. Mostly we sat looking at empty bowls waiting for the meat and then eating it plain with chopsticks since everything else was gone, and assuring each other we were enjoying ourselves. The atmosphere of boisterous sharing and socializing and plenty was just missing. It was kind of grim.
The grill was broken. The waitress spilled a drink on the floor. The bulgogi was good but as others have said, I was concerned about the handling of the chicken. The waitress picked up whole chicken breasts and shook off the juices before putting them on the grill. Drops of chicken juice flew onto the table, then she left the serving plate full of chicken juice on the table and walked away until I called her back and asked that she remove it. I just saw my dinner guests sitting hungry and quiet at a table of tiny empty bowls and a big plate of chicken juice and was embarrassed. I cooked with my own tongs so they were not reused and then we tried to eat the giant pieces of chicken with chopsticks.
As much as I used to love this place, it’s just not the same and we won’t return.
Made reservations for hibachi. We received a phone call from the restaurant saying that they no longer offered hibachi and informed us that they now served Korean Bbq. We figured we would give it a try. After waiting far too long to place our order, we ordered dinner and appetizers and had my son’s cooked meal come out at the same time as our raw bbq meats. The waitress placed the meats on the grill with no explanation of what the sides were that accompanied them and we still had no apps.
The waitress used the same utensils to remove the cooked meat as she used to place the raw meats on the grill; after resting the utensils on the leftover raw meat.
Other than my son’s meal, none of us had eaten (party of 3) when we spoke with the manager. He apologized, comped our meal and wished us a good evening. His customer service was top-notch.
The food was different and very enjoyable. Our waiter was excellent he made the whole experience worthwhile.
We went for the hibachi, and then found out they discontinued it. So, we ended up sitting at a regular table. We had difficulty finding something on the menu we wanted. The food we got was very good. For a party of 4, our bill was about $106, and we had a total of 2 beers, which came to about $10-12 just for two beers. So, we thought the prices were high. We are not planning to go back.
We had last visited this restaurant when it was a hibachi-style restaurant. We were very disappointed to find that it has since been converted to a cook-it-yourself at the table type place. Our seven year old was extremely disappointed as it had been his birthday dinner request to see the chef light the onion pyramid on fire as he had always done in the past :( There was no indication that the format of the restaurant had changed upon me booking the reservation which I feel was quite unfair, espeically when the photo shown when booking on open table is STILL THE LARGE HIBACHI GRILL which is no longer even present in the restaurant. Food was okay, prices seem higher than they were previously and the entertainment value is gone. It was quite dead for a Saturday night, whereas it used to be quite busy, so I am assuming other patrons are not too happy with the change either.
Meal was very good and staff very nice. Would go again
I was at Osaka for a work lunch and appreciated the calm atmosphere and quiet that allowed for easy conversation. Given the location of this restaurant, I have no idea where they get their prices from. The food is serviceable, but the markup must be huge. We got a full sashimi platter and it was embarrassing. I am coming from the Philadelphia area, so comparing the excellent value and quality there to this sort of suburban eatery might not be the best measure, however the bill for two people was $70 for what was perhaps $35 worth of food and drink. Our server was nice but kept pushing alcohol which was a little odd given the nature of our visit there. There are so many other nearby sushi places with much better prices and quality, so I would not make this a destination unless you really can't get to anywhere else.
Very much enjoyed the Korean BBQ. Their rice bowls are amazing
Osaka is an excellent experience every time we're there. Great food, great service, a great overall time. Cannot recommend highly enough!!
Had only been there previously to the hibachi section. We were very disappointed in the food, taste, portion and price. Service was great. Bring back the hibachi
Excellent service and good Japanese/Korean food. Family really enjoyed the meal/get together & we will be back..
We were so excited to bring friends since we had such an incredible experience in March. We went back last night and sadly just had a meh experience. Our server got the drink order wrong and when we sent one back - she didn't take it off the bill (we didn't notice until after we paid and didn't want to deal with it after the fact because we were already frustrated from the meal). There was only one other table occupied in the yakiniku room and it happened to be he owner. He never came over to ask how the meal was. The restaurant was really empty. Which was sad especially for a Saturday night. Our waitress never explained which sauces would be good for each proteins, she didn't tell us how long to cook each item. The ambiance and every detail of the meal we had in March was perfect, sadly last night - it just all seemed thrown together. She kept trying to upcharge us to the Korean BBQ options when we just wanted yakiniku. She got our order for that wrong too and had to go back to the kitchen several times to get what she forgot. Apparently the restaurant closes at 10 on a Saturday and at 10:10 they came over to us to tell us they closed at 10, which is not good business for a Saturday (especially since they have a bar). Just sad that an amazing experience we had in March isn't good anymore since we would've gone again and again. Good points - the sushi was tasty and the hostess was really sweet. But we probably won't go back because this wasn't a good experience and wasn't the fun event we thought it would be again.
We have been going for years and always have a great time and pleasant experience. The only thing that may be good to add is a more extensive cocktail list at the dining tables.
Great place for a business lunch, clean with friendly service. Food was very good and was very fresh.
Food and service is always amazing here. Best japanese food in the area.
Fun cooking your own food. Pretty pricy after having enough food to be full but fun experience
I always love Osaka and have had great experiences. Service was mediocre at best this time around. Our waitress seemed to have too many tables to take care of or just wasn't paying attention. I will definitely be back as I love the food and have been there plenty of other times and received good service. Hopefully it was just a one off!
This is a work bunch favorite spot. Everyone loves the bento box selections and variety. And for us sushi lovers - the quality and presentation is very, very good.
After reserving a table on OpenTable, the hostess called me to ask if we had any dietary restrictions, wanted the main dining room or the Japanese BBQ room, and asked if we would require high chairs or booster seats. Upon arrival, the wait staff and the hostesses were very friendly and engaging without ever being intrusive. They made sure our drinks were always filled and recommended dishes they liked. We had one waitress, but I say 'they' as several other staff made sure we were accommodated as they walked by. The food was very good. We had the Sweet Beef stone bowl with the raw egg (the beef and egg cook in the hot stone bowl). They will walk you through the bowl if you haven't had it before. We also had the seafood udon and a few sushi rolls. All were delivered quickly and were very tasty. Osaka isn't the cheapest Japanese (with a dash of Korean) restaurant around, but they definitely always deliver a quality meal.
My second visit to Osaka. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing The food was delicious, yet a bit pricey The service was what ruined the experience The food arrived too quickly and then our server brought the check while I was in the middle of my entree. I am left opting to visit other restaurants that offer the complete package.
We had a work group lunch. The sashimi was good, there are selections for non sushi eaters and I recommend the spicy seafood soup!
Made my daughter's 18th birthday incredibly special. Wonderful staff!!!
Be warned--they no longer do the standard hibachi style dining with the one chef putting on a show. Now, you get your meat in small pieces that you grill yourself (think Melting Pot). It only took 30-45 seconds per side to cook, so it wasn't like you had to do all the work. Our friends really liked the sushi. The staff got us to try Ton Shi or something like that. We found it a bit chewy. The wasabi mashed potatoes were a bit too sweet for my taste, but still good. The fried ice cream was only ok. I mostly ate the ice cream and left all the crust.
Overall, it was a fun experience, definitely something different, but not a cheap one. After tip, for 4 of us, the bill was close to $200.
Food overall was very good. Only problem we had was service related. We had a child with us. She ordered the chicken teriyaki which was on the kids menu. Server assumed she wanted the adult entree. Never asked. We were charged the full entree price. We also were never told the specials. Food was good but main server needed work.
Osaka is my favorite place to dine.
The sashimi is of high quality and the presentation is the best. I leave the composition to the Shushi chef.
The kitchen lead by Chef Silva and Chef Jason is second to none. I leave the menu to them and have never been disappointed. The new dining room addition, leaves the cooking to you with ingredients and sauces that really excite your pallet. Harrison is more than happy to teach you how to cook the meats and fish and which sauces go well.
So bummed they dropped the bento box for dinner, added an unappealing and expensive rice stone bowl, about $122 for three people and two alcoholic drinks total. Actually charged me $1 for a very small portion of a sauce to put in my rice bowl to give it some flavor. I couldn't believe it! I'm done there, sad because I used to really like it there.
No longer a hibachi restaurant, but you now cook the food yourself. Since conversion to this style the food has gotten worse and more expensive. We will not be back.
We ate on the side with grill tables, everything was delicious! The food was great.
