Son’s birthday nice dinner
The food was delicious and we received alot for our money, however the service was terrible. When we went there was hardly anybody dining and the server acted as if it was a burden to serve us at all. The hibachi chef came out complaining that he was tired and proceeded to cook our dinner without saying a single word to us. Awkward. He seemed hung over. Needless to say it was disappointing as this was supposed to be a special evening out with my son. Won't be back.
Ok this time
Unfortunately we were misinformed when we called and were told the lunch menu price. Got there and told ‘not on Sunday’. So cost was more than double for 6 people. Hibachi server was excellent. Place could be cleaner. Food was yummy.
The food, service, and ambiance, all made this a fun experience for us.
Great birthday venue!
Was there for a birthday, but no one asked if there were any special occasions. We weren't offered dessert. It was Valentine's Day, so seemed like they were just trying to get us out quickly. Felt a bit rushed. Food and ambiance was great though.
Great food and awesome entertainment, just don't get too close because it's HOT! Best part, delicious leftovers the next day.
Second time around. Food still fresh and flavorful. Your never go away hungry. Chefs entertain you at a table that seats eight. Good place for special occasions. This is pretty noisy place and not conducive quite conversations. Busy on weekends so I suggest reservations.
I made a reservation an hour before I got there. They didnt have my name on reservation.
Went here to celebrate a birthday and the food was phenomenal. I highly recommend the lobster tail. Great service however there was a lot of noise in the restaurant
Today is 4 degrees in MN.
My colleagues and I went to Osaka for the hibachi lunch. However, when we arrived, we all noticed the restaurant was too cold (low temperature). The greeter brought us to the grill area and that space was even colder than the front entrance area.
We forfeited the grill experience to be seated in a warmer area of the restaurant. Half way through the meal, it was still too cold and we put on our winter coats. At the same time, we noticed the table next to us all had their winter coats on as well.
We told the server about the low temperature and asked to have it turned up. His response shocked us all. He told us that he could not turn up the thermostat but would tell management, as it is their decision to adjust the temperature. Needless to say, we will not be returning until summer.
Poor business decision. If you are running a business, you should make sure your guests are comfortable.
Our kids always like to celebrate their December Birthdays at a Hibachi restaurant. Osaka is very accommodating and fun to do with a group.
The food was great, but our chef was not entertaining and it seemed as though he did not want to be there.
Noisy! I understand the chef is part of the entertainment, but one chef was noisy to the point of being obnoxious.
I took the kids to celebrate the passing of their dad... his favorite place to eat
You just can't keep adding butter, salt and oil to any kind of food with the expectation that it will keep making it better. Overpriced and underwhelming.
The food was great, the service was outstanding, we did Hibachi and our chef made the night really fun
Food quality has declined over the past couple of years. Our chef was very good, probably the best we've had, but the restaurant was under staffed, and the seafood quality was poor. I would not recommend ordering lobster or scallops from the hibachi menu.
We had a party of 14 when we visited Osaka recently for our family's October birthday celebrations. Several of us were quite disappointed with the food and the chef. His presentation was lackluster, it seemed as though he was rushing through the cooking, and portions of the meats were not what they've been in the past. I had Filet and Shrimp hibachi, and I certainly did not receive my full portion of steak. My son also had ordered filet and says he was sure he was given NY strip instead. The flavor of the food was good, but we come to Osaka not only for the food, but also for the experience. We have been happy in the past with this Osaka, but nearly the entire group was dissatisfied with this experience. I'm not sure we'll be back.
Went there with family. Six in group. Food was delicious. Fun and different way to dine. Very noisy so if you are looking for a intimate and quite atmosphere this is not the place.
The food is good, very standard Hibachi steakhouse and sushi. It was of normal quality. The service here is absolutely next level atrocious. I am talking catastrophically bad. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years, so I did not complain there, and I am usually the last to do so, but just come prepared to be there for about 3 hours.
It was very understaffed and humid inside the restaurant. It took over 30 minutes for my group to be seated even though we had a reservation.
This was a three generations birthday celebration. We were semi concerned taking our four year old grandson to this restaurant: no worries! He kept saying "do the fire again"! He ate some of everything and was only "somewhat afraid" of the Birthday Clown mask. Adults all loved your restaurant, once again! Thanks
we made reservations but we were not seated for over 30 minutes. The food was very good.
We were visiting Minneapolis (State Fair) when we decided to go Asian food and found this place very close to our hotel. Our chef Jorge, who's Mexican (no one is Japanese despite the restaurant name), gave us an unexpected show of his acrobatic skills with cooking utensils and prepared all of our food absolutely perfectly with great flair. This apparently is part of the dining experience, giving the guests a great added dimension.
Staff is friendly and open to interact with guests as we like to do or, from observing other tables, do their job and leave it at that.
The food was excellent, and we had a good time. The habachi presentation was very entertaining.
Service was terrible and the food was mediocre at this location on penn avenue and 494.
Dinner was great, calamari was crunchy. Chef was fun, steak was very tender. Use the sauce. Birthday celebration was fun
Reservations mean nothing here!!! We made a reservation via Open Table for our Anniversary dinner! Upon arriving the hostess/slash bartender tells us there's an hour wait. We tell him we have a reservation (which was clearly displayed on his computer screen). He sees it then says he's down a chef & all tables are full right now. We left! Why accept reservations if you don't honor them! Our dinner was ruined because of this! Plus the place stinks! I wouldn't send my dog there to eat!!
Went for Hibachi on my wife's birthday. Pretty typical American/Japanese restaurant interior. Right away though the concierge was engaging and that continued with the waitress and other staff. Our hibachi chef was relatively new and competent although not amazing, however the food was delicious and he had a few good tricks.
I requested specially that they do the birthday routine for my wife that they normally do for kids and they obliged us. It was good fun and they played along well.
Overall, a good dining experience and fun for a birthday.
I am never disappointed when going to Osaka. The food is awesome, the price is fair and you get a little bit of entertainment with your meal as the chef puts on a bit of a show while preparing your meal. Great for birthday's (they seem to be a go-to place for birthdays as you will hear), or just a night out with family.
I think we an inexperienced hibachi chef. Our food had a mostly burned taste, not sure if grill was to hot or if teriyaki sauce was put directly on the table. The sauces were different than the Apple Valley Osaka and not as good.
Waitress only came back once during the entire meal - we were very thirsty. Chef dropped three utensils on the ground and cut his finger in the first 5 minutes. I hadn't been there before so didn't know about the pouring saki into people's mouths or throwing food so I didn't participate. Two of us had the lobster tail and it was so salty we couldn't eat it. The restaurant was very dark and not very inviting.
The services and food was great. The only thing was the chef that was entertaining us seem too serious and did not speak up - So we couldn't understand what he was doing or asking us if we want to participate with catching the food. Other then that it was a great experience.
We've been to this Osaka a handful of times, but this time was terrible. We went on Mother's Day for an early dinner to celebrate Mother's Day and my mom's birthday. I made a reservation using the OpenTable app, but apparently the restaurant doesn't actually use the app so we didn't have a reservation. We were still able to be seated, however the restaurant itself was incredibly hot. It must have been 90 degrees inside, and then once the chef started cooking it became even hotter. During the hibachi cooking I had to stand up and bounce my infant, but I couldn't because the floor was so sticky that my shoes were literally stuck to the floor. Finally, the server messed up our bill, but rather than come back to explain the issue he just ran a second charge on the card for an additional $40. In the service industry, when you make a mistake, you must always notify the customer before you charge their card for an additional amount. $200 is a lot of money to spend on what we thought would be an enjoyable dinner when in fact it turned out to be worse service than a fast food restsurant. The service was extremely poor, the ambience of the restaurant was terrible. We will not be returning to this location.
My experience this time was less expectations as before. I would expect the same experience every time.
My girlfriend and I went here for a date night and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! We got the filet minogn, lobster tail, and shrimp for two and it just blew our minds. They clock the food right in front of you and it's like dinner + a show while the chef does tricks with the food while also preparing an amazing meal.
