Orzo Kitchen & Wine Bar
Somewhat limited menu
Excellent in all ways!
We appreciated the vegan menu options. Our selections were delicious.
I came from out of town in hopes of finding a really good restaurant to eat at. After reading the reviews and rating on Open Table, I knew that place had to be Orzo. Wow, was I disappointed. From the second I sat down until the second I left I was extremely disappointed. The bartender/server was the most unfriendliest person I have ever met in the restaurant industry. There was no warmth from her as I dined and just no acknowledgment. She was very straightforward: “Do you want something to drink, are you ready to order.” My drink and food came out very quickly which was great, but the food had no flavor. I got the eggplant rigatoni and was not impressed at all. When it was time to get the check, it took extremely long. It shouldn’t have taken that long especially since I was sitting right next to the register and it would have taken 10 seconds to print it out. I started to get up and gather my items, and then felt the waitress rushing to get my bill.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant; Little Star looked like it would have been a better choice.
One of our favorite restaurants. Excellent wine list, attentive service and great food.
Good food and atmosphere. However, our waitress was a bit unfriendly right from the beginning.
We ordered appetizers and the waitress claimed we needed to order our main course immediately, even though we were not ready.
Once the food came, it superseded the poor table service.
Great for special occasions or for any occasion at all.
Orzo is a well-appointed and well-staffed restaurant with an intimate ambiance. It's a great "night out" spot for dinner or drinks. The staff is attentive but does not hover or rush you through your meal. I love the open kitchen and lofted dining space. Carpooling with friends is best if you are meeting a group. Lot parking can be limited.
This is arguably the best restaurant in Charlottesville. Surrounded by beautiful paintings of vineyards and the sea in a space that is both warm and energetic but also intimate, diners are served with just the right amount of attentiveness and care, and treated to a menu that is both classic and inventive and attuned to the seasons. The portions are generous, the dishes delicious and fresh and often locally sourced. There are plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, and the cooking team will accommodate any special dietary needs. If you're into fine wine, there is always someone in the house to offer advice about good edible/potable pairings. The restaurant space, including a charming, off-street patio, is versatile enough for a cozy date night or a large party. The prices are reasonable and there's always a good bartender on hand. And there's plenty of parking. Outstanding.
Ken, one of the owners, greeted us warmly when we arrived and led us to a corner table. Our dinners were delicious, starting with the complimentary hummus (nice and garlicky) and French bread. The gazpacho of pureed tomatoes and spices - no fillers, no dairy - is a favorite this time of year. We had pasta dishes - a bolognese and a rigatoni with marinated beef and mushrooms. Both were delicious, the bolognese slightly superior. We never seem to have room for dessert - although the menu is tempting.
Both Dieting... my god daughter and i shared 3 courses. We [just] asked for individual plates..
so we could divide our dishes. The waitress kindly offered to split & serve which, was V kind but definitely transpired to be consistently UnEqual! 🥴
Our First 2 courses were good; Main = less so. While rigatoni was almost perfectly cooked... & fresh tomato base was pretty ok.. Eggplant was practically non existent, with a few raisins but (comparatively) tons of olives. Definitely disappointing / not my usual experience.
Pray tell.... Is there a mgmt or chief change going on?
The swordfish was the best I've ever had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone going to Charlottesville.
The food was delicious and the service wonderful! I love dining at Orzo!!
We had a great experience at Orzo! We arrived early and ended up sitting at the bar.
Great food. Great wine list. Portion sizes were great.
My son and daughter-in-law were visiting this weekend and we had a chance to take them to Orzo Kitchen. They loved it as much as we do. Superb food time and time again!
A small family gathering of five adults to celebrate a birthday and a departure (daughter leaving to live in Central America for four months). Food and service were great (friendly yet professional).
Great food and service!
Our favorite restaurant in C'ville!
Love the Salmon!
We love Orzo! Love the ambiance and vibe. We had a nice waiter—never heard his name! Only problem was the bolognese was too spicy.
Orzo was wonderful, as always. The food, the wine selection, and the service is the best in Charlottesville.
Just lovely, as always. We are never disappointed!
Nice place - food is great and service is wonderful.
Everything was wonderful: service, drinks, food. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely meal. The Duck Breast was delicious! Although next time I'll order medium rare (my fault not theirs). There was a little heat in the potatoes, buy I love spicy food so it was great for me. My husband had the meatballs and was very happy. The desserts were fabulous, especially my Olive Oil, Rosemary cake with lemon curd.
It was quiet, but it was early on a Sunday evening.
Orzo is one of our favorite restaurants in C'ville. I especially like the Caesar salad with anchovies. We both enjoyed the lamb meatballs. The 20% coupon has allowed us to eat here more frequently.
Although I drank beer, I did notice how extensive the wine selection was for a small restaurant. The food was well prepared. The waiter staff well trained and attentive. A nice place to meet friends for an unrushed meal.
Great food and good atmosphere.
Orzo is consistently one of our favorite restaurants in Charlottesville. The appetizers offer a wide variety of imaginative options. We particularly love the gazpacho soup that is currently on the menu! The entrees are always creative and flavorful. They are combined with interesting accompaniments. The duck breast with figs is outstanding! The tiramisu for dessert is the best we have ever had!
Great food, great service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! needed 50 characters
Still our favorite restaurant after a year of living here. We have tried many others but cannot find a second favorite....They set the bar very high!
We love Orzo
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. Highly recommend Orzo.
The food and staff are top notch. A great casual dining place with a fine dining level of service and food.
Portion of fish special, cod, was size of my companion’s appetizer
It is a lovely restaurant with unique options for dinner and drinks. It is more like a European dining experience than a rushed meal. For that, there is an added cost both in time and expense.
Wonderful dining experience ! One of the Best of Charlottesville’s Restaurants.
The people are what make this restaurant outstanding. A friendly and prompt greeting, excellent service from a very attentive waitstaff, a talented and clever bartender, and terrific fare. Concluded with some of the best tiramisu we've ever had! Worth the price (it's not inexpensive), and we look forward to our return.
The food and service was absolutely lovely.
I really enjoyed the place. Yhe only thing I didnt like was the noise level. I had hard time hearing my date when we were trying to have conversation.
Perfect-as always. Love knowing we will always have a good experience and enjoy good food.
