   We ended our Sunday Lunch wondering why on earth we don't eat at Orwell's more often. The lunch itself was pretty close to faultless. Our lobster starter - taken out of the shell and sitting in foam on a bed of pea puree with Isle of Wight tomatoes was outstanding. My roast beef was generous in quantity, as was my wife's pork loin, and the excellent variety of vegetables were all really good. Almost impossible to fault in any way. The main problem was that after such great food we were unable to find room for a dessert! Charming and efficient service by the young staff throughout. It is not cheap - over £200 for two including two Aperol spritzers, a couple of glasses of wine and a tip but given the quality we reckoned it was nevertheless not bad value.

   We had a very nice evening at Orwells. It is an experience, and we waited a significant amount of time between being seated, being given a food menu and then between eating each of the three courses. We arrived at 7pm and left at 10pm. This suited us, but might not suit everyone. We enjoyed the food, but it wasn't a big wow. Some elements were less well achieved. We were particularly disappointed that our amuse-bouches (your take on a ploughman's was not to our taste), dessert (layout, presentation of the complimentary elements - a seascape) and the petit-fours (salted caramel fudge) were the same as our last visit, 5 years previously. One of the reasons for revisiting restaurants of this quality is to experience innovation, so this left us feeling disappointed. Especially, as we didn't enjoy these menu items. The starters, crab risotto and langoustine tart, were the highlights. The duck main was cooked beautifully. The Guinea fowl was good, but some parts were undercooked. I am ok with meat being served pink, but the texture was not right - the rolled meat was bright red, almost raw and gelatinous. We did provide feedback, which was taken graciously. The staff were lovely and engaging. All in all, a good night, but please start innovating.

   This was our first time at Orwell’s but we will most certainly be back. The food was outstanding and the service remarkable despite being an incredibly busy day. Well done to the chef & waiting staff 10/10

   From the moment you enter the restaurant the service is on point. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We went for Sunday roast and the meal was delicious. Beautifully presented and also a very generous portion

   Orwells is always exceptional. We went on the Saturday night and had the tasting menu and the whine pairing. Was truly truly delicious (scallops, lamb and rhubarb and custard were to die for) and such a lovely friendly team. It never fails to be a wonderful experience. We’ll be back again and again. Thanks for a lovely evening!

    Wonderful food generous main course and rhubarb and custard dessert was fantastic. Front of house staff very pleasant. Well worth the long drive just wished we lived nearer.
