We were there at 7:30 and they were out of everything we wanted.
Been wanted to try Ortygia for a while, and we were so glad we chose it for our daughter's graduation dinner. Chef Guy not only cooked for us, he serenaded us and made us feel like a part of his family. I would give you a few highlights of the dinner, but it was all incredible! What an exceptional dinner and evening! We will certainly be back. Be sure to make a reservation, and find Ortygia in the Bradenton arts district!
The owner/chef is very friendly and wants all his customers to enjoy his restaurant. Our food was outstanding! Perfect portions! Definitely will return!
When we arrived we were greeted by several people including the chef, we still had to wait 10 minutes to be seated as they had a large party sitting outside and only had 2 people serving the entire restaurant. They had run out of most of the food. We decided to stay because this place was highly recommed and it was already quite late to find another location. The noise coming from the kitchen was loud and disturbing, banging dishes and crashing pots was all you hear. Later one a gentlemen came and apolized for the noise, apparently he had been upset about something he was questioned on and banging the dishes was his outlet. We ordered wine and the bottle sat across the table for at least 15 minutes, we had to tell the server to bring us the wine. Overall the food was ok, very average , def but not worth all the wait and bad service.
I enjoy, and will frequent Ortygia as often as I can! The food is fabulous, the staff is accommodating and greet everyone with good old fashioned Sicilian warmth. The atmosphere is as if you are in a relatives home, very relaxed atmosphere, you are not rushed in and out as do most restaurants. The staff are so genuine that they come and talk to get to know their patrons better. The Chef takes the time to greet everyone also, and even plays a mean harmonica. My only complaint is that my belly is so full when I leave, I need to learn to pace myself with all that good food! Great place, highly recommended! 😀👍❣️Linda Pappalardo
We love this restaurant. It’s menu is distinct and delicious. Egg plant parm is on point and Guy knows how to cook fish perfectly. The desserts are unique too. We love this place!
This bungalow-style restaurant is a real gem! Fresh delicious food, delectable desserts, warm and friendly service and cozy ambiance. Great for a date night or dinner before a nice night out. We love it here!
Great, locally sourced, menu. Friendly, attentive, and professional service. Very interesting, delicious, and unique dishes. For example, garlic/vanilla/honey gelato.
Fantastic food and the music is a perfect accompaniment to the meal. The chef and staff could not have been more hospitable.
The setting is not one you expect to find in a restaurant. It is a little house with dining areas in a couple of rooms. We were there on a Saturday- a very busy night. So, combined with the entertainment in such a small space , it was quite noisy. A highlight for the evening was the entertainment- a guitarist who played the Blues. A treat was the chef/owner performed along with him.
We enjoyed Ortygia so much we came back again the next evening. Chef Gaetano's unique take on Sicilian cuisine, the accommodating and friendly wait staff, and the charming ambiance will make this my go to restaurant when visiting Bradenton.
What a gem of a place. Fantastic service, the chef even came to have a brief chat. All food freshly prepared on the premises. Tasted wonderful . Not a huge choice but diverse enough to suite everyone. We had a great birthday meal there for 4 of us. Will definitely be going back again!
Excellent food, service and staff.
Amazing food, atmosphere, the staff is smashing and the owner is very personable.
We had a delicious dinner with friends that are heading north for the summer. Everyone enjoyed there dinner very much....chicken with artichokes and a delicious beef dish.
Great lunch experience with personal wine and food recommendations from Chef Gaetano Cannata. We’ll be back—and bringing friends with us!
What a hidden gem...in an absolute neighborhood so quaint. The people the service the food so incredible. The chef came out to our table making sure everything was fun. Bread came in a pouch and you get dipping oil. Great experience They have a very nice patio as well. Run don’t walk
If you like feeling you are dining in someone’s home, this is the place. The food is outstanding, cooked to perfection and of course fresh. We highly recommend this restaurant. Even though we just went, we are returning again!!!
Never been before. Really enjoyed it all. Food was excellent. Who knew you could LOVE chicken Parmesan so much and reasonably priced. I don’t often do desserts but Bread pudding was to die for.....
They did everything to accommodate our request. Really enjoyed dinner with friends. Noise minimal allowing for conversation Chef/owner and staff superb !
Amazing meal! Amazing service!
This was our second time here and we just love this place. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is upbeat and festive.
Ortygia is an annual stop when we travel to nearby Sarasota. This year I ordered the Roasted Garlic Bisque. It was served warm in a Martini glass with crushed almonds on top. OMG. It was superb. Next I devoured their tarta di carciofi. A pie size wedge of a creamy artichoke delight. Delish. For dessert I shared their absolutely delicious zabaglione with Jim, divinely created and prepared by Master Chef and Owner Gaetano Cannatta. Wonderful evening. As always.
Fun place. Great food!
Our first time and the staff was great, the food was very good. Chef came out to greet us and was extremely appreciative and kind.
Fabulous! The chef/owner is delightful and the food was a 10!
Lovely and delicious home style Italian food. Great value.
Awesome place and great food. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends!
This cute little restaurant in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton is located in a small house, with additional seating outdoors. We were seated inside, because it had rained earlier in the day. It is like being served dinner at home! I love that. Very relaxing. It probably would have been even nicer outside in the yard. My husband had the chicken parmesan, which was one of the specials that Throwback Thursday night, and I had the Farsumagru, which is like braciola. Both were excellent. We had the cinnamon roll bread pudding for dessert. OMG! That was fabulous! Service was great, and we got to meet the chef owner, Gaetano.
We really enjoyed this place, and will definitely go back next year when we are in Bradenton again. Hopefully we will be able to sit outside next time.
It is a very relaxed calm atmosphere, and a wonderful change from everything out by the water!
Dining here is a treat. The menu is nothing like any "Italian" restaurant such as we are used to. Always fresh chef created dishes --and interesting specials every time we visit.
Always amazing food! Guy is superb!
Always a outstanding surprise. Cant recommend enough
Very limited menu and diner quality service. No reason to go back.
Chef Guy is fabulous in the kitchen and on the Harmonica!
This was our first time at Ortygia and we loved the food and atmosphere. One complaint: we were a party of 4. One person finished eating ahead of the others, all of whom still had half a plate of food left (as did the person was finished eating), when the server asked if he wanted a box. This has become the trend these days. Gone are the days when the plates are not cleared until everyone is finished. It puts pressure on the other diners to hurry with their meal, and I hate it!
It is always a treat to go to Ortygia. The chef is great, always visits the table to chat, and the staff are both efficient and friendly. Although they do not change the menu during "season", they always add a couple of specials each night. This last time, I ordered the special, which was salmon with a chocolate balsamic glaze. It was wonderful. Chef always has dark chocolate paté on the menu, but it is prepared just a bit differently each time. Highly recommended. The fennel baked in chardonnay sauce is an amazing and very unique appetizer. There is always music on Saturday nights, and Chef Gaetano joins in on blues harmonica and sings. You really can't go wrong at Ortygia. It's both fun and delicious.
Great food, friendly, Guy does a great job with everything, unique.
Worth a trip out of the way. Just a true great place.
Unbelievable unique dishes. Staff and owner/chef very hospitable. Will definitely come again.
