Braised in Balsamic vinegar and red wine with carrots, shallots, and aromatics atop multicolored toasted israeli couscous
In Chardonnay cream, olives, pancetta, pecorino cheese bread crumb crust
Assorted Locally-Made Gelato
This is a true gem of a restaurant. The food is amazing. Locally sourced fresh ingredients prepared by a master chef. The wine list is excellent and very reasonably priced. I have eaten here many times over the years and never been disappointed. My personal favorite is the fennel appetizer braised in chardonnay cream sauce. My friend had the lentil salad which she loved. Most recent visit we both had veal parm which was perfectly prepared. The setting is a charming old Florida style mansion, with ample parking in front and on the side street. If you have not yet eaten at Ortygia you cannot call yourself a true foodie.
Another great dinner!
We have been to Orytigia three times in a month. It is a well kept secret in the Art district of Bradenton. I found it by searching fine restaurants near me. We moved to Palmetto from Bay Hill in Orlando. We were very used to having quality restaurants to chose from. We have plenty of sea food near us but we were wanting Italian. The restaurant is in a small house in the art district of Bradenton so the ambiance is epic! The food is Sicilian not American Italian. However, the owner did say that on Thursdays chicken parmigiana is one of the offerings. The drink card had a variety of styles as well as prices. Orytigia has become one of our favorite places. We hope everyone else enjoys it as much as we do!
I have been to Ortygia about half a dozen times over the past few years. I have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. It is small and space is a bit cramped, but that adds to the environment. Excellent food and service, and usually live music on the weekends. I will be back soon!
Always a great meal accompanied by a table visit from the Chef. Small, intimate setting.
Always amazing food and a great experience. Highly recommend.
Another amazing experience at Ortygia! Delicious, fresh food prepared in authentic Sicilian style. Engaging and very knowledgeable staff. Adorable setting. Love this place!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Food was absolutely amazing and service fantastic. The owner was very friendly and genuinely made everyone feel at home. I live about an hour away but will be sure to return, it was that good!
Wasn’t impressed. I’m a local and I’ve read all the reviews for this restaurant thought I’d finally give it a try. For $16.50 I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, not worth the money. The pasta wasn’t fresh, boxed pasta you can buy in the grocery store BOGO. The eggplant wasn’t what I expected in the least bit, not breaded not fried, I’m guessing grilled. The pate was bland no flavor.
We had an unexpected fabulous experience. The place is unique. We plan a return visit.
Delightful small restaurant with a gregarious host and inventive delicious Sicilian cuisine.
Unique dining experience. Husband chef, wife manager. If you are looking for fast service in a traditional setting, don't go here. If you are looking for something different and wonderful food in a homey, intimate atmosphere, this is it! Just go, eat, experience.
This is a hidden gem in Bradenton. Authentic Sicilian food and a fantastic wine list. It was especially nice to have a glass pour for all wines. Will definitely be back again.
Outstanding as always! Intimate setting, personal attention from Chef Gaetano, great salmon special. We always live to eat here - never disappoints.
We were a table of three. We waited over 20 minutes for our waitress to bring bread from when she stated she would bring it . There must of been large party in the back room getting all the service. Sadly none of the dinners compared to the quality of the appetizers . By reading previous reviews I thought the chef was not only overseeing the floor but interacting with the customers . That was not the case he spoke to other groups not ours . There was a huge lag between ordering and getting food with no explanation. After we were finished we sat again until we asked for the check .
I am not sure we will recommend or come again
We were coming into town late for our first visit to the area. Checking Open Table, we found Ortygia not far from our destination- and what a find it was. Even though we arrived close to closing time, we were warmly welcomed and not rushed at all. Our dinners were fresh, delicious, and authentic. We highly recommend this neighborhood family establishment.
We has the last special of white beans and mussels.....excellent. We also had a breaded chicken cutlet in a light white wine and butter sauce with artichokes spinach and roasted potatoes.(small side of ziti in a light red sauce). Also well prepared and tasty. It was Saturday night, full house. We had a table for 2 in the back room. The noise level was a little high. I would suggest,if you can,ask for table in front of house. Value was outstanding . Neighborhood is old with a bunch of small houses,as this is definitely a residential area. If you can, don't miss this little gem. You'll love the menu and the food is worth it
Very enjoyable experience!!
A nice quaint restaurant. The food was good but a little pricey for what you get, and no dinner salad.
Over all this was a nice find.
Our third time for dinner here. Chef met us at door. Great interesting dishes. Great wine offerings. Service super. Great experience.
Somehow, it was not as good as the last time we ate here. The waitress brought salad with dressing, though we asked for dressing on the side. The pasta dish as a main course could have been made more interesting, and the other two dishes had the same pasta as the main course dish - they couldn't do something to make the pasta more varied? I would still recommend it, but not so whole heartedly as previously.
Amazing food in the most adorable setting. Exceptional service and we loved meeting the owner / chef! A definite return visit is on our calendar.
Don't let the appearance of the neighborhood or the location of this restaurant deter you. It was a magical evening. The food was amazing.
Overall a nice experience
Cozy place, very friendly staff, chef came to out table a few times.
Will definitely go back
very friendly restaurant. owner chef spent time explaining dishes & wine. food well prepared & service excellent.
Ortygia is in a converted old Florida bungalow style home. We visited on a first Friday, during an Art Walk event. It was a good thing we made a reservation because we would not have been able to just walk in. We have dined here before and the quality and survey is consistently good. The organic house salad was a nice addition to our pasta entrees. The wine list is thoughtfully compiled, and the music (singer/guitar) was a nice touch.
Always the most exquisite plates! Chef Gaetano is wonderfully personable and incredibly talented.
Great food, great menu, friendly staff. Highly recommend this quaint little place.
The food is always great, we each ordered one of the specials: lamb shank and corvina. Both were wonderful. The staff is always friendly and efficient. We have been eating here for years, it’s always a pleasure.
What a gem! From the moment you open the door you know it’s going to be special.
Warm professional service, incredible owner/chef, and just darn good food. Loved it so much, we ate there a second time on a 4 night trip . Don’t miss it!
Ortygia is an intimate setting with wonderful Sicilian specialties prepared by the resident chef. The Monkfish special was superb, as was the eggplant appetizer, and the personal interation with chef/owner Guy is always wonderful. If you have not visited Ortygia, make a reservation and treat yourself to a special evening.
Very nice atmosphere, the food is excellent, all home made, the menu is a little smaller than it was but it has specials which are interesting.
Guy and his staff are THE BEST!! Wonderful food at reasonable prices.
Food is always on point. The staff is friendly and welcoming!
We absolutely LOVE Ortygia! Hands down this is our favorite restaurant. Chef Gaetano knows his way around the kitchen and cooks up some delicious food every time! This evening we had the fennel as an appetizer. If you've never tried it, you are really missing out! My husband and friend has the swordfish (fish of the day) and I have the pollo carciofi (I hope I'm spelling that right!). All were perfect! The new addition to the menu... gelato! It's SO GOOD! Of course the chocolate mouse pate is a treat as well.
Best chicken parmigiana ever! Very lovely service.
The restaurant is in an old house in the Village of the Arts. Very eclectic with pictures of the owner and family that were painted and framed. A warm atmosphere that was especially nice with a singer that played guitar and violin. She had a beautiful voice. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. The bread in a bag was the best bread I’ve ever had. Crispy on the outside and garlicky and chewy on the inside with an olive oil and herb dip. I ordered the cheese and greens torta rustica and it was delicious. The crust melted in my mouth. My husband had the pasta siciliano and he said it was excellent and he ate every bite. We saved room for desert. We had a peach with vanilla ice cream and toasted hazelnuts! It was so good! The peach was marinated and so different from anything else I ever had! We will definitely be back! The owner came out to see if we liked our meal and he also played the harmonica! Loved the whole atmosphere!
