Always a great experience. Guy is an incredible chef and he and his staff are very friendly and fun. Food is fantastic and the atmosphere is like you came over to visit his home for an intimate dinner party. This is a must go place in the quaint Arts district in Bradenton.
We met with friends at Ortygia for dinner. The service was impeccable and the meals served were second to none.
This is not your normal Italian restaurant. The food is excellent, It's always well prepared and carefully served. Both menu standards and specials are interesting. Be sure to try it.
A treasured find. Located amidst a residential area and art community the Ortygia rivals any fine dining restaurant in Chicago. The food superb and the service by the owner/chef/waiter was outstanding. The appetizers, entrees and dessert was divine. We will be back with our husbands.
Innovative menu with deliciously prepared food made daily by chef/owner who will come to your table to explain in detail each item on the menu. Very responsive to altering food to accommodate special requests. Waitress was not very knowledgeable of menu items and she do not check with us often enough to see if we were satisfied with our meal or needed more drinks. We had to seek her or other staff for service.
Very friendly. Chef brought the food to the table. Was very pleasant and tasty food. I had the fennel appetizer, very good and different. I also had the swordfish and I am not a big fish eater. It was delicious.
We had a wonderful meal with good friends and would highly recommend ORTYGIA to all our friends and visitors!! We will go back!!
This was our first visit but will not be our last. Food was delicious, stuffed pork chop and special chicken with artichokes and olives as well as the appetizers -stuffed mushrooms and caponata. The desserts were outstanding
Superb food from a really passionate chef. The atmosphere was great, feels like you are a guest in someone’s home
I love Ortygia. It is consistently a nice experience. Authentic Sicilian Italian menu and great wines.
A great resturaunt with lots of ambience. I would recommend to anybody who enjoys good quality food and wine at a great price. You will not be disappointed.
Everything was great except for the noise level and being sat next to the air conditioner. It’s a converted house and very charming.
We ate at Ortygia having heard good things about it. We weren't disappointed. The chef was personable and came around to talk with the customers. He had just made a hazelnut cake that was just delicious.
Reviews were so great and we were disappointed
Ortygia is by far the best restaurant in all of Bradenton. Chef Gaetano’s warmth, personality & creativity is second to none! His food? A delight to the palate! The ambiance of the restaurant leaves you feeling warm and loved. We simply can’t say enough about how fantastic this little gem called Ortygia and Chef Guy are!
This N. Italian restaurant in a residential neighborhood is a find. The dining area consists of various rooms in the house, the chef has a deft touch, and the experience is well worth it. Reasonable Italian wine list as well. Have fun!
Great dinner spot. Small, so reservations recommended.
When we arrived the hostess told us they were no longer accepting "Open Table" reservations. They were able to sit us outside in open seating. Embarrassed because I thought I had a reservation. It was a little too cool.
The most unpleasant dining experience in years. The atmosphere was like a fire drill! Noise and confusion everywhere.
Our server raced back and forth and didn't seem to care what we ordered or if we ate it , which we didn't. The food , which has been highly praised, was more like Olive Garden. I couldn't even eat mine. The house salad was good. I selected this venue for my husband's birthday thinking it was Bradentons version of Indigenous, our favorite Sarasota restaurant. What a disappointment.
This is a "must go" restaurant for those who visit The Village of the Art / Bradenton area. The unique decore, up-beat atmosphere and excellent Sicillian dishes are enough to make the trip worthwhile. With luck, diners may even get to hear, Guy, the chef/owner play his harmonica or at least meet him as Guy circulates among diners to check that all are delighted dining experience. We highly recommend Ortygia Restaurant.
My 2nd time here - food is fresh & delicious
Servers are gracious & attentive
Will definitely go again
The Chef made a mistake on my wife's meal but sent it out anyway and didn't offer to correct it. The food was tasty. The noise level was was poor for anyone like my self who wears hearing aids, as I was seated within one and one half feet from my wife and it was impossible for me to hear her most of the dining time! We would recommend the facility to someone who wanted to try something different. We, however, are not in a rush to come right back.
The food was excellent. I have several food allergies that the chef accommodated. He personally came to our table and discussed options with me. One of the best meals I've had in the Bradenton area!
Stunning gem. So glad we found it. Wish we lived in state as we would be regulars!
We were looking for a quiet, yet unique food experience for our 23rd wedding anniversary celebration with family and were not disappointed! The food and wine were excellent. Our out-of-town guest found the renovated "house" environment to be unique and suggested that we return on his next visit. We had made reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival.
If we could change anything--Our table for five was actually 3 small tables put together which does create some space and dinnerware placement issues. Also, our table was in the back room which was nice and quiet, but lighting was just a bit too dim. One of our guests commented that he had difficulty reading the menu. All-in-all everyone was pleased with our experience and our anniversary celebration was very enjoyable. We will definitely return.
When we're in the area Ortygia is always a must stop. Charming service and excellent creative food. Already booked for return visit.
This was our second trip to Ortygia. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.
First of all, the wine selection was not great, and the prices for wine had increased significantly. Secondly, our entire party of four felt that the food was flavorless, and unremarkable. Our biggest surprise was that one of us found a ball of string on his plate. He was at first unsure if this was something edible or not. Upon closer inspection, he realized what it was. We felt that the chef’s response to this event was unsatisfactory. He came to the table, apologized, and made a joke about it. At the least, he should have provided a complimentary meal or dessert. We will not be recommending this restaurant to others.
Friends wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday. We started with some nice wine choices and enjoyed a terrific pate sampler plate. The entrees were spectacular: the catch of the day was a huge sole filet with a terrific sauce and exquisite vegetable sides. The steak preparation is unique and always a hit. The birthday girl had a chicken dish with wonderful vegetables and pasta as well. And the desserts were melt-in-the-mouth and unlike anything we've found in these parts. All at reasonable prices and served with attentive service and the chef's personal attention. This is a special place and a dining gem! We'll be back!
Disappointed. Orders were either plated wrong or entered wrong in kitchen. Terribly slow to get every course. Every worker seemed overwhelmed. Our sever was friendly but seemed flustered
Nice little restaurant with good ambiance. Service was pretty quick and friendly.
Food was good. Wine list was limited but we found a Cab for a reasonable price that was tasty. I will go back another time as it was an overall positive experience.
Another fantastic meal at Ortygia!
Went for lunch following an art show. They are located in a small house in a residential area. Chef/owner is a real character. Wine and food were very good but conversation with the chef was great. Very colorful background with lots of stories. Will go back next time we are in Bradenton.
Great, friendly service. Excellent wine. Food was to die for. Owner/chef visited each table. Very intimate venue.
This restaurant was FABULOUS! We had lunch there and I can't wait to go back for dinner.
The tart was to die for.
We just did not care for the food. Limited parking in a residential neighborhood. Employees were friendly but somehow this restaurant did not suit us.
Food was great and loved the atmosphere. Guy the owner was awesome.
When we first pulled up my husband questioned the place based on looks but I assured him I had read good reviews. Once inside it was like sitting inside someone’ house with cozy little tables. We ended up having conversation through the night with people sitting next to us (it’s that close). Wine was delicious. I really enjoyed our app and garlic bisque. For our entree we went with the more authentic choices and they were delicious. I only wish they were bigger. Totally enjoyable experience down to the pictures on the wall of the chef’s cute mother.
Our experience was not good at all. The food was lukewarm, small portion and has no flavor at all. Will not go back and definitely not recommend to anyone !
We were greeting by a very pleasant hostess who welcomed us and gave us a choice of tables. There was live dinner music. Excellent service and wonderful food! We will go back!
