Ortega 120 Ratings and Reviews
Loved the décor and vibe at Ortega 120. Hot chips and salsa were delicious and the pork tacos and brussel sprouts dish with pumpkin seeds and cotija cheese was divine! Would come back for that dish alone!!! On less stellar notes...michelada was lacking and the enchiladas were ok not bad but just ok. Can't wait to come back with friends and sample a few more dishes.
this was our first time at Ortega 120 and it certainly met my expectation. I always look at menus of restaurants new to me when I book and the tour de taco really interested me and it did not disappoint. Each taco was simply crafted and tasted amazing. We ordered guacamole and when it did not come, before our entrees, they brought it anyway and comped it. This is how restaurants should treat their customers. We had the churros for dessert. they were excellent, but for 3 4 inch churros, we thought $7.50 was a bit pricey compared to the cost of entrees. We will go back.
I really enjoy my dining experience and it was very comfortable. I really recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. I love that it is very traditional and it has famous pictures of my Mexican culture.I would definitely come back to dine in and enjoy with my family and friends.
I like this place a lot, though sometimes the slowness of service and messy plates of food prevent me from LOVING it. But they have $5 margs and mimosas/sangria for $1.70 when you order an entree, so it's a good value. That's how much mimosas SHOULD cost!!!
It was noisy... The chips tasted stale. That was not a good start. When the meal arrived (it took a while) the food and margaritas were very good. We couldn't eat everything or finish our pitcher of Margaritas. When they cleared our table the waiter took our 1/2 drunken pitcher poured it into a couple of glasses and then served them to another table! Gross! Recycled Margaritas! We won't be back.
Some of the food is outstanding, some just okay. Noise level as everyone knows that has eaten there is off the chart the later in the evening that you dine. Curious, they usually push their guacamole, but this time they neglected to mention it. The margaritas are good. Don't order the pitcher unless you drink fast as the ice dilutes the drink. Good parking and friendly staff. FYI, make a reservation thru Open Table. Things get pretty crowded the later you go.
Enjoying introducing my mom and brother to places they may never have been, for dinner this evening I chose Ortega 120. Despite their initial fear of going outside the burger norm, I pushed forward confident in my decision. Aside from a couple mild irritants, the two were impressed. (A win for me!)
Enchiladas Mole and Chilaquiles, chased shortly after by a delightful churro and ice cream dessert filled our bellies and made us say mmmmmmm.
GREAT PLACE!!! Been here three times and I order something different each time to try all their food. NOTHING has disappointed, we do get the QUESO FUNDIDO and Guac every time, they are delish!! Food is great. The Margarita's are the best, get the pitcher, made right at your table. This is not EL TORITO or any other cookie cutter Mexican restaurant. The food is all unique (good different) and tastes great.
Our food was extremely expensive and very sub par. In one of my carnitas tacos there was a huge bay leaf in it that I didn't see before I ate it which really ruined the tacos for me. It shows the level of care they put into their food before sending it to the customer. The rice and beans were awfully bland and the $9 guacamole was a small lump of something that had seemed to have been made days before. I was not impressed at all and will not be returning.
I loved my visit to Ortega 120. The restaurant captured everything perfectly. The only thing I might say bothered me a tad was that it was extremely loud inside. It wasn't ideal to have a conversation with someone on a date for example, unless you were shouting across the table. Loved the food and service. Might want to be seated outside next time to see if it's a little more quiet.
My babe's food was good - steak n shrimp.
Mine was ok, the Chile relleno, but there was a lot of breading on it and not too much meat.
The 'street corn' was horrible. It was just corn sprinkled with a little bit of the Mexican cheese n salt n pepper. Just not work the price.
My babe drink - the white sangria was good and tasted strong.
My margarita was over priced and weak. I didn't even get a buzz - I couldn't even taste the alcohol. The drinks are way over priced and weak.
Made a reservation for a Saturday night and were sat right away. Service was excellent, food was tasty. The Tour de Tacos was a nice way to try the different meats they feature (carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, pastor, and I substituted short rib for chicken), and the chile relleno was huge and, according to my friend, quite flavorful. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the flour tortillas were a little dry, but overall our dinner was a great experience.
Everyone in our party agreed that the margaritas were great but the food was average, at best. On the Open Table reservation, I made note that we were celebrating a birthday--but no recognition of that was made by the restaurant. Other reviewers have commented that the same thing happened to them...
