Excellent Restaurant! Cindy is a great chef! The Best Mojitos!
Miami spice menu was great. Still have the best mojitos in town. Love it here every time we come.
We used to be regulars and decided to try Ortanique on the Mile again. Joel the bartender is awesome and a drinks wizard. Food and service were very good, but not what we signed up for. The Miami Spice was COMPLETELY different, so it felt like a bait and switch. One of our guests is particular about her food and had been looking forward to try the Miami Spice menu. The other down side was the almost 1 hour wait for our table, which was open when we checked in. Still had an enjoyable time, but didn't get to eat what we were expecting to.
The restaurant has been consistently good for two decades. They have an amazing jerk pork chop, perhaps the best pork dish in the Southeast. Took a vantage of the Miami spice menu tried the curry buttered chicken for the first time. It was very tender and amazingly flavorful. Can’t say enough good things about the chef, management, bartenders and servers!
I dine there often, including lunch. The menu is always new and seasonal in nature. You feel welcome immediately and the wait staff is very helpful with any questions. We both had the N Carolina Trout and it was excellent. I rarely have dessert out but can not resist Ortanique's Bread Pudding. It's always Obscene!!
Can't wait to go again. We are there a few times every month.
parking was easy waiter was excellent food very good
downside - wine was overpriced the miami spice menu was changed from the website
we checked it that afternoon bait and switch
Vacationing in south FL and or son picked Ortanique for dinner. Everything was fantastic from drinks at the bar through dinner. Excellent service and recommendations from staff.
It was packed and very loud. They were busy on a Wednesday, but unable to handle the crowd. It took a long time to even get our order taken and they didn't even bring any bread until we were nearly finished with our apps. It was a measly 2 pieces of garlic bread! There were long waits between courses and they never brought the 2nd bread they promised. We had Miami Spice, white bean soup and roasted peppers for our apps. Sirloin tips and roast mahi on polenta for entrees with mango tres leches for dessert. It was my wife's birthday, which I noted on our online reservation, but they said or did nothing. Sometimes a good restaurant can get too good for it's own sake and they take their clients for granted. Ortanique has a capacity problem where the kitchen isn't anywhere near able to keep up with the orders and it doesn't look like the manager is too concerned about a solution- not as long as the sheeple keep coming in droves. We're not sheeple, so it's highly unlikely they'll see us there again. Too bad a talented chef can't round out the deal.
We dined off the pre-fixe Miami Spice Lunch menu and everything was amazing! The service was also wonderful!
We enjoyed ourselves.
One of our all-time favorite restaurants for a nice meal or a special occasion. Fabulous wine list and creative "Cuisine of the Sun." Highly recommend!
Wonderful Miami Spice Menu! Excellent service provided by Sam. The portions were not only large but very tasty. The red sangria was superb! Gigi, the manager is very friendly and made us feel welcome. Made plans to return next month!
The rating would be a 5 but the conch fritters had no conch. Otherwise the food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Although, now that I think about it... my coffee after dinner was ice cold while it appeared that those that ordered decaf had their coffee piping hot. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy.
Good afternoon, my wife and I go to your restaurant frequently. The food is always well prepared and the quality of the service is extremely good.
We normally seat on the right area with the banquets that are closer to the bar and against the wall. This furniture needs some TLC since the upholstery is showing the normal wear of the years.
But most important, the area above the banquets, the wood triming had a cover of dust. I rather have the wear and tear on the upholstery but this coat of dust should be cleaned.
You have a nice place and I appreciate the great food and service.
Hope these comments encourage you to maintain your restaurant at the top choice that it is here in Coral Gables.
Best regards, Jorge.
Delicious food, the staff had great suggestions. Looking forward to going back!
This was my first visit and we were all impressed. All our choices were excellent and we will be back.
I had not been to Ortanique in many years and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately it didn’t love up to expectations. First, the food. The food was generally fine but certainly not great – a solid 3 stars. The jerked foie gras was the mistake of the night. If it had any jerk seasoning , it was well hidden. Instead, the foie gras was served with potato chips and a very dry, leathery duck jerky they called duck confit. So that pretty much ruined what would have been a nice piece of foie gras. Service was passable, certainly not great, not really even good – also three stars, maybe. For example, we had to request that our water glasses be refilled. We also had to request more bread, and then it took 15 minutes to come. The waitress had perfected the classic “tunnel vision”, so she could walk right by without seeing us. As for the ambience, the décor is nice enough but extremely noisy – terrible acoustics, so it was difficult to carry on conversation without shouting. All in all, you could make worse dining choices, but I would not recommend Ortanique’s.
Ortanique is our go to restaurant in Coral Gables. It's always outstanding in taste and service.
I had not been to Ortanique in a long time and we were all disappointed with the food . Our cesar salads were so salty that we couldn’t pass the first bite . The waiter suggested maybe we didn’t know they had anchovies . We have eaten cesar before ! They were replaced but took a long time . My corvina was way too peppery and felt like someone went crazy with black pepper . Those that had tuna all liked it but felt the portion was too small .All in all the wait was long but our waiter was one of the best ever and made up for the delays and food . Will not return . Miracle Mile has restaurants competing side by side and they need to step up their game . The experience and look felt dated.
Owner/chef stopped by to introduce herself and make us feel welcome. Wait staff was terrific. Caesar salad and entrees were very tasty. Will visit again when in the Miami area.
Server Yo-yo was great! Extremely knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations.
My only complaint about Ortanique has always been that they don't know how to honor their reservations. They will always overbook and make you wait an hour for a table. This last time they not only made us wait at the bar but we started noticing empty tables and when I went back to the hostess stand they didn't even recognize that my guest and I were waiting almost an hour for a table. I stopped going there for over a year because of this happening in the past and they just did it again. Some things never change
We were in town for a business meeting and it was delicious! We had the leek soup, tuna tartare, and the scallops with bokchoy and perfectly cooked coconut rice. Each dish was fantastic!! I will definitely be back again!!!
Ortanique is an excellent restaurant all around.
The food, the ambience, the service and the wine are all exceptional.
I highly recommended to everyone who enjoys fine dining in a beautiful setting.
This is one of our local gems. Always innovative and consistently good. Cindy always uses local flavors to make inspired creative meals that do not disappoint.
The cuisine is delicious, very fresh and creative! The servers and bartenders are also top notch. You will love this place!
The food and service were excellent. You can smell the freshness of the ingredients as they bring it to the table.
The food, service and ambiance was great
Have been here many times and always top notch. Food is superb and unique; atmosphere is remarkable and service is more than pleasant! We travel down from Coral Springs and it is well worth the trip!
Wonderful blend of flavors. Consistently one of Miami's best restaurants.
Ortinique is always amazing! Spectacular deal for Coral Gables Restaurant Week too!
Very large menu with many options! Every dish on the table was great. Very reasonably priced as well!
The food was pretty good but definitely not great. The portion of the Mahi filet was a small square. This was the smallest portion in any restaurant I’ve ordered a Mahi Mahi dinner. I replaced the polenta with wasabi mashed potatoes. The portion of the mashed potatoes was also very small. About 4 tablespoons worth. Our server was pretty good and very nice but not attentive enough to realize my glass of beer was empty for 5 mins. When I did get her attention and ordered another one, she forgot to bring it. 10–15 mins later, I had to ask the girl who bought the food to look into it. Then the food runner brought it within 1 min. Overall, I’m disappointed with the portions as compared to a total bill of $480 for my party of 4. We did also have a bottle of wine that was $94 and a few other drinks so that amount wasn’t only food cost. It definitely is quality food and a nice ambiance but not anything so great to warrant very small portions for the price. The service could be better. They should notice if a drink is needed without having to flag down someone who’s not your server for one.
Ortanique is one of my favorite restaurants. It offers a unique menu of a delightful mix of flavors that transports your taste buds to the caribbean! Love the coziness of the place and they are pet friendly with outside seating!
This has always been a Great neighborhood restaurant , popular ,constantly good, it was my Birthday and I had looked forward to having the Double Pork Chop . Long story short, after a reasonable amount of time our food came , I was given pork tenderloin it took about 5 min to get our servers attention to send it back. My husband had finished eating and about 5 minuets later I got to eat . I Just wished they could have got right .
Been there many times before. I like the location for business meetings. The food and service are usually ok. I have noticed a decline through the years however (Menu needs an update for sure). But this last time was disappointing all around. Will probably not be going back.
Such a unique style of flavor to some of your “most common” dishes. Huge selection of wines and full bar selection. Went with some friends to check out the menu for Restaurant Week. Ended up ordering from the special menu as well of the regular menu. So many options to choose from that it took us 15 min to decided on shareable plates. No disappointment from every dish ordered. Service was great...they have two people that make sure you have everything you need. FYI...Order the Salmon main dish. (It was so great I didn’t get a chance to take a photo) lol. Dessert: the Date pudding
Another great evening. Food and service were excellent.
