Ortanique on the Mile Ratings and Reviews
We were recommended by a friend. It was simple to book on OpenTable and the ambience was absolutely relaxing refreshing the service was impeccable the waiter very personable charismatic and informative probably one of the best valentines events we could have chosen
I rated it 3 starts just not to be horrible because we have eaten there in the past and always very delicious. We made reservations over a month before for Valentines, we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and waited and hour and half before we left. While I can understand that it was a very busy night, the wait was excessive and it looks poorly on them for taking so many “reservations” for the same time. Very Disappointed.
My wife and I have eaten here many times. The food has always been spectacular. On this last occasion we were disappointed by the service. We ordered a bottle of wine and after waiting what seemed like a long time they get it, were brought the wrong bottle. Again we waited . Our wine was finally served to us together with the meal. The complimentary bread was not brought til after we had concluded our appetizer and the Jamaican rose m cake we had for dessert didn’t measure up to the quality we expect from Otanique. Overall we were disappointed.
We went out for an early Valentines dinner! Our waitress was so energetic and made us feel so comfortable! She hyped up so many things on the menu... we will definitely be back and we will be bringing friends. The food was great and the dessert was incredible!
We had friends in from Colorado and wanted to give them an experience that couldn't be had in the Rockies. After some contemplation (they were staying near the airport before an early flight out) I picked Ortanique. We all loved every aspect of the meal from drinks and starters to the coconut tres leches cake we shared four ways. Our server Samantha was terrific. The men got meat (pork chops), and the women ordered the day's fish special -- both delicious.
Food was decent, and service was good in spite of a packed place. However, the food is definitely overpriced. Wine by the glass choices were poor and again overpriced. Very noisy and tables are too close to each other. Given the prices, not worthwhile, much better value elsewhere in Miami.
Ortanique is excellent. The decor and table settings are luxurious yet comfortable. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is very creative and varied. There are menu choices for all tastes and it is extremely well executed and presented. The special cocktails are unusual and very good. In brief, Ortanique is unique and well worth the trip.
I had out of town guests and wanted to give them a special treat. Although I had not been at Ortanique for over a year, I have always had outstanding meals. Unfortunately, this time was different. The hostess and server were excellent: pleasant, efficient, etc. The food was not. Nothing we ordered was at the level of excellence I had previously experienced. The food was not bad, but neither was it wonderful.
The food was fabulous!!!! Absolutely no complaints!
However, our waitress was far too pretentious for our liking (Arielle)
We did also do not appreciate being charged for sparkling water we did not order (or drink) but that was brought to our table in error. We were also charged individually for the three cups of decaf coffee that I drank during dinner (for a total of $9... for basic American decaf!).
I found that unreasonable given the higher prices of our entrees, salad, and dessert.
Unfortunately, "extraneous" things like that make unlikely we would return anytime soon.
I have been dining here for over 10 years and never had a bad experience. We were greeted with a welcome and smile while entertaining out of town friends. Our reservation was honored despite a nearly sold out restaurant. The server (Kimberly) was fantastic. Drinks were made to perfection. Food was delicious as always. A small issue was resolved immediately and without us asking they offered a resolution. It was another outstanding evening with our friends at Ortanique.
Had a great time at Ortanique! Nice Ambiance and a most gracious hostess. Food was great for the most part but the jerk chicken pasta is a heavy dish and our guest preferred the Mahi dish of his neighbor which was delicious and presented beautifully. Salmon is also wonderful and the pork dish absolutely terrific! The service was slow and perhaps this was due to it being a midweek dinner.
All in all we had a great time and would recommend.
