Ortanique on the Mile Ratings and Reviews
Quality Caribbean Cuisine with attentive service from the personnel.
The bar is nice and cozy and the drink selection quite good. Noise level is also low an perfect for actual conversation to be had over a nice meal. I had the mussels brewed in Red Stripe Beer. The broth could have had more reduction but flavors complemented well the mussels; overall a decent experience with a good service.
We had excellent service and great food at Ortanique. My swordfish was cooked perfectly. Every bite was moist and flavorful. The mango tres leches was not to sweet and the addition of fresh mango gave it a balance to the sweetness. This was second visit during Miami Spice and I would return again.
Once again we shared a wonderful meal, incredible service and seductive ambiance. Its truly a magnificent experience every time we dine at Ortanique. We started with the Bacalao Fritas and the Cheese Board, It was delicious. For the main we both couldn’t pass up on their signature jerk chicken pasta. Everything was on point and we can’t wait till our next dine out.
I must start by saying that I have been going to Ortanique on the mile for years and I love their food. But on this occasion the Miami Spice menu disappointed both me and my friend.
The appetizers were lovely and fresh. However, the cocoa encrusted beef was cold and it was a very small piece of meat. But the worst part was the dessert. The choice was between the mango tres leches and the chocolate chip cookie sandwich with ice cream. We both chose the sandwich and that was a huge disappointment! The waitress said it was a homemade cookie, but it was just a paper thin wafer like cookie between two miniscule ice cream servings. My wafer literally disintegrated when I touched it. We should have ordered the tres leches. So, for the first time we left Ortanique disappointed! They have always served one of the best Spice Menus around and have never been cheap with the portions. I hope this was just a one time event. The service was good and the ambience was lovely.
Ortanique is a major treat, from terrific food, to terrific service, to wonderful ambience. While something of an "institution" it does not take itself too seriously and the food is fresh, creative and delightful. All service and reservation staff treat everyone, even a first time diner, as a valued customer. Kudos and thank you for a wonderful evening and a memorable and delightful dinner.
We went to Ortanique for my wife's birthday and an anniversary of the first time we met. Not only was the meal we had amazing, but the ambiance was great. In addition, the staff were exceptional creating a very special evening. We can not wait for the next time!
Service was frantic, the seating is tight, and the servers were contiously bumping into me. With all those people running around you would think they would be attentive. Food was extremely slow. My husbands pork was rare, & the next time it was like leather. Overall a Very disappointing experience!!
This is my favorite restaurant in Miami, and I've been here several times. I dined here on Sunday evening with my daughters getting ready to head off for another school year. It's always a specially prepared meal and worth the drive from Broward. Can't wait to go back!
Great food, ambiance and most of all, excellent service. Our waiter was fantastic! We had a wonderful meal before attending a play next door at Actor's Playhouse. Our waiter made sure we had great service without feeling rushed and we paid the check 5 minutes before walking over to the theatre. We really enjoy the rum selection at Ortanique and Joel makes great cocktails.
The food was as good as all the reviews said. What was lacking was attentive service. Nobody filled water glasses and it took nearly twenty minutes to get someone to bring us the check. Totally inexcusable for what is supposed to be a high end restaurant. The decor is looking dated also.
