Ortanique on the Mile
Ortanique I think is the longest lasting restaurant on the Mile and no doubt will continue. I’ve been dining here since it opened and never disappoints; Fritters of the Day, Chorizo and Black Bean were exceptional. The house “hot” sauce is an added touch and a favorite. Salmon and Ahi Tuna were perfect and my date devoured the Mango Tres Leches. They also know how to prepare a nice Kettle One Martini. Only challenge, the Decaf Espresso was NOT Decaf and I was up until 4AM. Always return and a very convenient place prior to the Theater, Enjoy!
Just an incredible restaurant. I little gem in Coral Gables with a friendly staff, a wide assortment of delicious plates and a bar that handcrafts great cocktails. Its right next door to the Miracle Mile theatre, so it makes for a nice afternoon or evening to first dine at Ortanique and then take in the theater.
Our "go to" with out-of-towners or date nights. Never disappoints
Awesome, as always. Mom's favorite place.
Don't sit outside as you will be quickly forgotten. Twenty minutes for first cocktail. Spiralled down from there.
My wife and I come to these restaurant often.
It is a wonderful place to drink excellent wine and have great food and exceptional service.
Poor service from waitress, got order wrong, repeatedly forgot bread she offered table, water glasses empty
Start with the parking. It is very hard to find street side parking. There is a garage on the street behind the restaurant that is a flat $5. We opted for the garage a street over from the front of the restaurant. I believe it said it was museum garage parking. We were there just under 2 hours (since we were only there for dinner) and it was $3. The outside seating we originally selected was right next to the sidewalk and it was a little humid, so we opted for inside dining.
We were promptly greeted and seated. Service was good, food was very good. I had the cornish game hen and my wife had the salmon. Both done perfectly. Service was a little slow when trying to close out and settle our bill. After we were finished, our server was standing at the reception desk talking to who appeared to be the owner. Our table was very close to them, but we were not acknowledged being done. The server walked away and was summoned by another table who were trying to get their bill also. This delayed our checking out by a few minutes. Not a big deal, I just happen to be one of those people that when I'm done, I'd like my bill and be able to get on my way. Would definitely recommend!
Expensive for what we got. Food was Ok. Server was in a hurry, pushy in multiple ways and almost rude. We were outside and a sudden rain came. She was more worried about the menus than us.
I had not been to Ortanique in a number of years and went back for the 20th anniversary celebration. The food was delicious. Priscilla, our waitress, was excellent. The place seemed to have been redone. All in all, it was a delightful experience and I'm looking forward to returning soon.
I don’t know what’s happened but the quality of the food was not up to par and much less considering the high prices they charge. The shrimp ceviche was ok but probably had less than a shrimp cut up into little pieces, an insipid guacamole and a stale plantain chip accompanied this. The catch of the day was a Corvina which was fresh and well cooked but there was so much sauce on it it was hard to enjoy it. A plantain and yuca mash was ok and again accompanied by a stale plantain chip.
What was outstanding was the service by Jaqueline.
Great food as always
Consistent good food, ambiance and service. Easy t0 reserve on Open table.
A favorite in the Gables. Food as well as the service are always top notch. Great specials, the 1/2 off on bottles of wines on Tuesday is a favorite. Best mojito in town.
The food is always amazing with great taste as well as presentation.
Time after time Ortanique has impressed me. The service and the food is really the most consistent and most delicious compared to any restaurant in Miami or anywhere! Our waiter was happy and patient and left my friend and me alone to talk and enjoy our meal. When the food was delivered, the food runner explained just how fresh my salmon was and the process by which it was prepared. I cannot wait to go back!
Food was excellent and so was the service. Ate outside so it was quiet. Hostess made a point of coming out and introducing herself. Emily, our server, was perfect. Everything was delicious. My husband said the sticky toffee pudding was as good as the place in England where it originated.
Great option for Miami Spice lunch. Great location and food quality
Food and cockatils were delicious. Service was very slow. They were busy as it was Friday night, but even as the resturant began to empty it was hard to get a servers attention. Dinner for 4 took 3 hours for no reason. Price point is a little high, but the portion size was large as well.
This place is deeeeelociois!!! Service is also great.
Wonderful as always. Great experience for our friends who have never been there.
Best restaurant in Coral Gables!
I have been going to Ortanique since it opened almost two decades ago. It is superb!
Great food and service. The Oreo Bread Pudding was excellent and the Angus Flat Iron Steak was perfect.
Had a great time & the food was very good.
always dependable food, service and value. One of my wife and I's favorite places to go out to for an upscale dinner on a Saturday or Friday night.
Miami spice food was not quite up to par. Had some kind of quail chicken good but even the bread was not the usual terrific.
It was recommended by some friends. Quite a distance for us to get to but went for my birthday and also it was Miami Spice. Lovely ambience with great service. The food was delicious and they even decorated the dessert plate for my birthday. Will definitely make the trip again.
Niece was visiting. We had an awesome waiter who gave us excellent suggestions for food and drinks. Everything was delicious. Service was 5 star
Great spot, consistently delivers on service and food -- had a fantastic anniversary dinner, topped off with a very nice touch for our dessert -- will continue to frequent Ortanique - great drinks, great food, and great service are always winners with me !!
Fantastica comida,personal muy amable
Second time to ortanique. Just as great as the first. Miami spice menu was great. Portions perfectly sized. Food perfectly cooked.
This is truly a neighborhood gem, one of our all time favorites. We took advantage of the Miami Spice Menu (can't beat it!). The Flatiron Stake and the Snapper were wonderful, so was the wine we tried; Fruit Savage, a red blend from France. Jojo our server is excellent. Highly recommend, with or without Miami Spice
My friend and I had a Miami Spice lunch and was disappointed with the food from the appetizers, entree and desserts. Her mini ribs was tender but the ribs seems coated in pork and bean sauce. Both of our flat iron steaks were tasteless and somewhat tough. The mix rice and vegetables was not memorable. We ordered the steaks medium. Both desserts were nice but the Mango Tres Leches had tiny square mango pieces which seem odd to me. Her cupcakes were good. My friend and boss had many lunches at the Ortanique with amazing results. This is one of his favorite restaurants in Coral Gables. Even my friend was disappointed with the Miami Spice lunch.
We went with intention of both ordering the Miami Spice menu. My boyfriend ordered the Miami spice menu, but I did't like any of the desserts offered, and wasn't crazy about the entree offerings. I felt that menu was limited. I did order a Ceasar salad and the salmon entree and both were excellent.
I had two issues. First when I made the reservation I had asked for a quiet table, since we were on a date - just the two of us and we wanted a quiet romantic evening. We did get a small table for two - sandwiched in between two very large noisy parties of 10 people each table.... so much for a quiet date night. My bigger issue was our server. She was just awful and acted like she was overwhelmed. There was confusion and misunderstanding with our wine order and the check. She lost the credit card (she dropped it on the floor coming back from the register) and in a nasty way insisted she didn't have it and we must have misplaced it.
Though the food was good, the atmosphere and service were really disappointing. Coral Gables has lots of choices, no need to pay high prices for a sub-par experience.
Consistently excellent cuisine, service and atmosphere. A uniquely extensive list of less trafficked and interesting wines. We totally enjoyed our dinner.
Jo Jo the waiter was excellent. Ambiance so nice. Food is always so good. Great menu.
