Gave this a two because of the food. It was a new menu I guess. We have been there before and had good meals. My pizza didn't have a lot of taste to it and after a $38 stuffed sole dish, my husband felt sick. I had to send back my apple dessert and it was my birthday. Was way overpriced for what we got. Our server was great and the ambiance is nice, but you go for the food and that was disappointing. Upset we spent so much money for a bad meal

ordered appetizer and salads prior to main course. salad and appetizer arrived together. i ordered the special, duck. waitress recommended medium rare, chef cooked to medium. there was issues with the check at the end of the meal - i was charged another guest's check. quarters were tight. we sat next to the pizza oven. table was set for 4. luckily there was only 2 of us. if we had a party of 4 it would have been too hot for half the party to sit and enjoy their meal. It appeared the strength of the restaurant was pizza from their wood fired oven. if we went back that's what we would order. I would consider Orta to be a fine dining experience.

On this occasion, the service was poor. We waited 20 minutes to place our order. Although wait staff walked back and forth by our table, even after the hostess stopped to ask us if we'd been taken care of and promised to get someone, we had to literally wave down a passing waitress to get her to take our order. The restaurant was not busy and they did not appear to be short staffed so we thought there was just a mix up in table assignments... Until we had the same problem at the end of the meal and we could not get our check.
We noted that the service was a bit slow the last time we were at Orta. (We waited an extremely long time for our food then.) The servers appear to have all changed. I just hope that bad slow service is not the new Orta experience. We tend to eat in Boston a lot but this used to be our favorite local Pembroke place.

We had not been to Orta in quite some time and decided to give it another try. We were able to get a reservation for a party of 4. When we got there the hostess was flustered as it appears they were busy. She sat us and told us it might be a few minutes till a server came by. We were fine with that. The menu is good. Lots of options. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our meals were very good. Salmon, swordfish and two of the braised short ribs. Our salads were great as well. My only issue is that the entire evening took awhile. The kitchen was very slow. They did apologize for this and that was ok with us...overall food was great and again our server was great but it was a longer night than expected. I'd definetly go back.

We were a party of four and it was our first visit to Orta, which was recommended by a friend who knows what we like. We ordered a variety of appetizers, salads and entrees. The mussels were very tasty as was the orecchiete and tomato sauce; however, the meatballs were not good at all. Two people ordered the dish and had the same opinion about the meatballs. They were very dense, 'tough' and the oregano flavor was overwhelming. The lobster risotto cakes were oily and the lobster flavor was not evident. The short rib flatbread was disappointing, possibly due to the amount of the gorgonzola. I would give Orta another try before I could recommend it to others.

Went on a week night, thought it best to try during the week.
When walking in, didn't have an overall good feeling. Wasn't busy as yet, but seemed to have to wait for everything and didn't get some condiments until asking, including water. The staff seemed to be milling around the bar area beside open kitchen. Couldn't understand at all. They were actually looking out to customers but didn't react to anything.
The food presentation was unappetizing on one entree, the other wasn't good! Only a portion was eaten, waiter asked but didn't say anything when said we weren't doing well. However, when asked if we wanted to take it home, replied no, she , hostess, said she'd take it off bill. Didn't want to do that either.
Just wouldn't return...

A VERY disappointing evening! Have been to Orta previously and had very good food and good to very good service. This experience was the opposite. They weren't busy at all, but the service was still slow - particularly waiting for drinks from the bar. Not sure if it was the bartender or our server, but it was very slow. The entrees were equally slow coming out. There didn't seem to be a strong management presence, as a number of the waitresses spent more time talking to each other than serving tables. Food was very good still.

However, the worst part was the restaurant was about 85 degrees and 90% humidity in the inside dining area. It was an uncomfortably hot evening with high humidity, yet they had rear door wide open and we never felt any air conditioning. By the time dinner was done, it was significantly cooler outside.

Not sure we'll ever try again........

Delightful anniversary dinner. The appetizer mussels were delicious with just the right amount of heat. Our waitress did a great job! Only negative was the lobster risotto cake...... no visible lobster in it . Lacking flavor as well. Pasta dishes well done with light sauces!

We frequent Orta's. It's the best restaurant in Pembroke and the food is very good. Normally, the service is top-notch. On this occasion, the service was as friendly and professional as ever but a bit slow which is unusual. We waited a very long time between our salad and our pizza and then again a very long time to get the check. Again, that's not normal here.

The food was delicious, but I do feel that the wait staff are not adequately supported; there appear to be minimal resources for busing tables, refilling water glasses, etc. which fell to the wait person to manage. Our server, Angela, was as attentive as she could be with all the coverage she had to provide with the 5 tables, busing between courses, refilling water glasses. Really not enough support staff for a busy Saturday night.

I have never seen shrimp served like it was this past Saturday. My wife and both found it totally unappetizing . We had never seen two extremely large Whole shrimp(with the head on and under cooked because none of the shell was removed.

They did offer to bring us something else, but by that time everyone else at the table had been served. If they want to serve something like that, then they should describe it that way in the menu.

Totally ruined the evening.

RELAXING! We requested to be seated at a quiet table as a member of our party has a significant hearing impairment. The hostess greeted us immediately as we entered and noted our request, so she delivered us to an alcove table. Perfect! We were promptly approached by Patty, server extraordinaire. She encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the entire dining experience. Tasty linguine and shrimp and beet salads were enjoyed by all, accompanied by delicious beer and wine. With the ample portions, we had no room for dessert. Had a wonderful time - Brett and Cara continue to provide a restaurant gem on the South Shore with a terrific staff and fabulous food! Looking forward to next time!

Orta is always one of my favorite dinner spots but their mother's day brunch was unbelievable! They put their flare on all the typical brunch food and it was to die for. The eggs Benedict with herb goat cheese was out of this world! Such a change from other restaurants boring buffets.
