Orso - NYC
**Please note- due to the closure of Broadway, we have altered our hours of operation. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to resuming our normal schedule in the near future.
scrambled eggs, grilled bread, pesto
meat sauce, parmesan
black truffle vinaigrette, endive, onion, capers, sesame seeds
The food and the service more than lived up to the hype. One of the best dining experience of my life!
There was a limited menu due to renovations which we were unaware of. We all had pasta, and it was good but not great.
Love Kevin and love Orso
The restaurant is undergoing renovation, so it is not fair to review it at this time
Absolutely wonderful, as always!
Perfect for pre-theater dinner - I had not been in 25+ years. The pastas were delicious.
...it has been a while; so glad we came back. Excellent service/recommendations, food quality and personable staff!
Mains were disappointing; not up to standards of many past visits. Lamb roast was on the dry side and branzino was missing something. I do not enjoy giving this review; Bad nights happen.
Very limited menu. No lunch specials. Expensive and unmemorable. Try somewhere else.
It was our first time at Orso, and we had a very positive experience. Our server was friendly and attentive, the menu was inviting, and the food did not disappoint.
Disappointed that there was no notification on OpenTable that the restaurant was experiencing issues with Con Ed and had a VERY LIMITED menu. Not the Orso I am accustomed to dining at. Would recommend when the issue is resolved.
Excellent pre-theatre spot. Reliable food and good service.
So disappointed. Had read reviews and was looking forward to our visit. Celebrating a special occasion. Food came out cold, coffee was cold.
Overpriced for what we got. Employees not pleasant. Would pass next time.
Orso was lovely! This was my best theatre district restaurant experience ever. The staff was gracious and thoughtful, like being welcomed into a good friend's home. A small menu, but everything is done very well and tastes great. Each dish had a nice touch that really brought it up a notch--the flank steak was served on a beautifully chopped broccoli rabe, the lemon sorbet had rosemary in it, etc...This is not a place for tourists. Yes, there are famous people eating here; but at Orso you shouldn't plan to gawk or take pictures. Enjoy your meal, enjoy the company you come with and without stress make it to the theatre in plenty of time.
I feel badly that Orso has been hampered with their menu since August 2019. What they do offer is delicious. Service is always excellent.
Orso is still the top restaurant on Restaurant Row. Food is delicious, service is superb. A higher level than even Joe Allen (which is for fun, shmoozing), Orso is A plus!
Enjoyed the food and environment
I've been to Orso at least 100 times over the years and this is the first time I've been disappointed. I had to wait forever for a waiter to show up and take my drink order, then had to wait an equal amount of time for the drink to be served. Perhaps they were understaffed that night, but the restaurant was not full and the host was chatting at the bar and could have sped things up if he'd been at all alert. Our waiter, when he did show up, served the main course by depositing the plates on the table on his way to somewhere else without slowing down. We are going back next week, but if it happens again Orso has lost me as a customer.
Very good food, a little spare (could have more charm). Service mostly attentive.
Menu is very limited and food is just ok
We hoped this restaurant would combine theater district location/hours with excellent food. We were very disappointed on the food. The service and room were nice - fine - but overall this felt like poor value. I'd look elsewhere for post-theatre Italian.
The limited menu because of a gas leak may soon be over. Hooray!
Winter salad and the pacheri pasta dishes were fabulous. Had the calves liver which was a bit overcooked and really nothing special. Great place to relax before a show.
Food and ambience at Orso is very good. Service this time was friendly but uneven. My biggest criticism with Orso is their wine prices which are absurd.
When we first arrived there were a few customers and we were escorted to the back room for a table of two in front of the kitchen. After a few minutes we were seated next to four people eating. I had the Branzino which was dry and my husband had the short ribs which looked like chunks of stew meat. We have eaten with prior and looked the pizza which wasn’t being served due to an appliance problem. When we finished our dinner I spoke to our waitress about how much we enjoyed the pizza and was disappointed. She then told us you had no gas for the past six months. To my shock I asked how are you preparing the food and her reply was the chef was being very creative with a hot plate. At this point I knew why my food was dried out We should been told this prior to sitting down and spending $150.00 on dinner
Very limited menu. No chicken or pizza. I wish they had noted that on open table. Food okay. It was freezing in back dining room had to have heater turned on. Hope to return when all items are back. They did have 3 pasta dishes though
Should have advised that due to a utility issue there was a limited menu.
Family friendly restaurant with very nice food and service.
Loved the win, pasta and dessert♥️
The grilled pears were our favorite
Always consistently delicious.
Limited menu right now, but the dishes were well prepared and interesting.
As always, the food is mediocre and overpriced here but the location is convenient to the theatres.
Upon entering, the rude person we encountered led us to a table almost within a serving space. We were told that there were no other tables for three. As we stood there reviewing our options and about to walk out, another gentleman popped up and very politely led us to another table. Our reservation was made many weeks in advance. We had a charming waiter who helped take the edge off our negative experience.
Pleasant environment, quick but indifferent service, pasta dishes ungenerous and good but nowhere near excellent.
Consistently very good informal food. Very convenient to theatres on 44th,45th,and 46th streets.
Though we've had dinner at many of the restaurants on restaurant row, this was our first time here. We were pleasantly surprised. Service was professional and friendly. Our only complaint was the very limited menu. Just four entrees. I had the bronzino. Delicious. My husband had the lamb chops. Both were well portioned and well seasoned. We started with the pear appetizer and the pea soup. Both were good. We ended with the tartufo. All in all very satisfied. Oh and they weren't able to make an apple martini. No apple mixer. Disappointed.
The menu is perfectly balanced and each selection is well prepared and delicious. From the minute I walked in the door I felt like an old friend returning. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and determined to make my dining experience enjoyable. The prosciutto with grilled pear was over-the-top!!
Very nice place after show! Quiet enough to talk and food was very good and servers delightful. They let us sit and talk for hours!
First, glad that I had a reservation or it would have been tough to get in for lunch and make our theater curtain time, be forewarned. The food was very good the waiter attentive but the background noise make it hard to order and be understood (normal table conversation was ok). Better then the average before show lunch. Would return. We had the Calves liver plate and fish plate and would recommend either.
Absolutely brilliant food! We had the antipasti and the pasta and what can I say? It is like traveling to Italy and eating perfectly al dente rigatoni
We come annually for an after theater meal with friends. We like the coziness of the space and the friendliness of the staff. And, course, the food is generally very good and well priced.
The one disappointment on this visit: my wife’s pasta was too al dente and there was too little meat sauce. A staple like that should be great every time. My linguine with clams, on the other hand, was excellent.
