ORSO Ratings and Reviews
We chose the Valentine's Day special, and it was superb. The harvest salad was sublime, and while the small pieces of fish were very nice on the main course, the steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious. For my wife, the served it with a gluten-free au jus, while mine had a very pleasant sauce.
Dessert was very nice, their creme brûlée a treat and the dipped strawberries delightful. We also enjoyed coffee and an excellent red wine.
Service was excellent, and Orso's did a great job with gluten-free options in their menu.
Despite the restaurant being full all night and we arrived at 9 pm, everything was working well and our waiter was efficient, friendly and knowledgable, as well as doing an excellent job.
Overall, a most enjoyable meal out, in line with Orso's high standards.
Great place for a date or special occasion. We sat upstairs so it was very quiet. My husband ordered the fresh catch which was mahi mahi and it was outstanding. I would definitely recommend trying the polenta ragu and king crab corn dogs on the small plate menu.
Was my husband’s and my first time going to Orso. I would recommend it to any other couples for dinner dates. Not much of a kids menu but that was okay seems we had someone watching our little ones. Any special occasions or just a dinner date with your love/spouse, then this is the place to eat.
The food, the waitstaff, all were great. We’ve dined here a few times and it’s consistently delicious. Our waiter was very personable, our flat irons were brought to us quickly and cooked perfectly. The manager always takes time to visit every table to make sure everyone is happy.
For having had reservations, seating was not great. Placed near door which allowed cold to overwhelm whenever customers arrived or left though other tables were readily available. Fish was undercooked while vegetables overcooked. At the prices, it was a less than enjoyable experience though the staff were, except the cooks, on point.
I love this place when I'm feeling like a special treat. The service is always super friendly, and the food is beyond delicious. Parking is always a concern, but if you give yourself a little time and find a spot, you can window shop a lot of neat stores in the vicinity. This is my favorite restaurant in Anchorage, and has been for a long time.
The service was great, ambience was warm, inviting and pleasant. The lamb shank was great, or so says my date who loved it. For the gluten free pasta, I know there are better brands of pasta out there, and I would suggest a change in the brand from what is currently served, pretty please?!. It was pasty.
We were regular customers of Orso from when they first opened, but then the food and service started going downhill. We finally gave it anther chance and we really liked the change and have gone 3-4 times over the last 6 months. This time was not a good experience. I always liked the pace of the serving of the meal, but this time had me wondering if you wanted us in and out. We ordered drinks and before the drinks even came we had our salads delivered. Thought that was not cool. Then before we finished our salads they were trying to serve the entrée. We said we are not finished with our salads, which should have been obvious. The wait person said he would put them under the heat lamp. And I'll be danged if it didn't happen again before my wife finished her salad. We sent it back to be put on hold. I will say when they finally delivered the entrée (after we finished our salads) he said it was freshly made. However, I had the chicken parmesan and while it was tasty the chicken was sort of rubbery. We will probably give it some time before we try it again.
Waiter was excellent and having our own carafe of water was great. Ordered from the special menu of select items where you get an appetizer, entree, and desert for $30 which was a less expensive way to try multiple items which is what we wanted for our first visit. All items were just OK, nothing amazing, but wife ended up sick at the end of the night which is why this rating is poor.
We went there for New Years Eve dinner and it did not disappoint! From the fun drinks of the Maple Old Fashion that had smoke flavored ice cubes to the appetizer tour of all of our favorites; steak tips, fried ravioli and calamari. Then move on to the entrees! The filet was a perfect medium for my picky self, my husband had the crab legs, so tender and juicy! Our friend’s had the ribeye and flat iron, all delicious! Then the cheesecake! OMG!!! Blueberries, ice cream and whipped cream! To. Die. For!! We sat in the side room with a great view of the whole restaurant. I’m nosy and like to people watch so it was great! Server was knowledgeable and not overbearing! A fun experience for all!
