Not happy to be seated right near the kitchen...very noisy
A bit overpriced, in my opinion
Our service was fantastic! Food was really good. Just a bit pricey, but worth it for a great experience.
Our waitress was fun and accommodating. But the food was so so. The crab cakes had no flavor and my steak was pretty flavorless. The wine was good though. Not sure I'd try Orso again.
The waitress was amazing well done Tijanie keep up the great work. I would for sure recommend it.
Great experience with great service and food. The Hallibut was cooked perfectly and the best I have ever had.
Best dining experience in years!
Outstanding service! Excellent food! Great drinks! Felt welcome and relaxed. Highly recommend!! Worth the trip downtown and not just for tourists! 😉
great food - calamari, harvest salad, fettuccine and chocolate cake! Outstanding service.
The service was spectacular. The menu descriptions were not incredibly accurate, leaving out huge amount of information on preparation, ingedients, etc. So when my food came out completely different from what was expected they changed my meal with no questions asked, they actually insisted. The food Halibut was phenomenal, my companion had the Ribeye which was huge but sorely under seasoned. Overall a good experience.
Food was just so-so, kind of plain and lacking in presentation. Our server was great, good personality and friendly service. Not at all impressed.
Fresh seafood dishes made in a healthy and tasty way. Decent appetizer selection. I enjoyed the crispy cauliflower because it was not overcooked and had just enough light coating
A friend recommended Orso to us and it was wonderful! Thank you!
Great location on 5th Street in downtown Anchorage. Pleasant ambiance and great food. Just right for a romantic evening or business meeting. Full bar on ground floor for meet and greet. Additional seating available upstairs.
Young lady in front of us had an emotional support dog. I have no problem with service animal for disabilities. This was clearly not the case. I am a dog owner, but restaurants are not appropriate places for this. Had we known they allowed this, we would not have eaten there. Why would the restaurant take the risk when several airlines have been sued for multiple incidents. We didn’t spend $200 for possible dog hair or fleas in our food.
Wonderful food and very accommodating staff. Will definitely return.
ORSO is our favorite restaurant in Anchorage, The quality of the food is always superb, we love the atmosphere and the staff is well trained to observe and notice if you require their attention. Always a delight.
We ordered the hallibut and the seafood pasta and both were delicious, as was the bread and cesar salads. Very fresh and beautifully prepared. However, after we placed our order, the salads arrived and almost immediately after the main courses were dropped off. By the time we finished our salads, the hallibut and pasta were cold. We also ordered coffee with dessert, but it didn't arrive until the dessert was done. The wait staff was pleasant, but clearly clueless and ill-trained. I would have been more tolerant of this if it wasn't such a pricey restaurant.
The recommended dishes are great. Fish are fresh from the sea everyday. The waiter is kind and knows about the food.
The waitress acted like she hated our guts from the very moment she laid eyes on us. Her English was hard to understand as well. The food was very good, but it was hectic in there and not very relaxing.
Excellent entree, lamb shank. Good drinks and wine. Friendly server.
Ww had a great meal. The server was confident in making recommendations when asked and she was spot on. One of the diners had a birthday but didn't want the complementary dessert. The server comped an appetizer, which was nice but the appetizer wasn't something the birthday celebrant ordered.
Two nights in Anchorage and I wish I had eaten here for both. Kink aids was fine Orsini is better.
The service was great and the food were beyond delicious. We had the crab stuffed rockfish, the lamb shank with the tower of appetizers. We were in and out within an hour, timing of food and drinks was spot on. It was our first experience there and it was very enjoyable and will continue to be patrons.
Dinner was excellent. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer. They are pure crab, breaded with panko. No other filling and they were delicious. The Havest salad was very good. I had the stuffed Rock fish with Cauliflower puree and carrots. The fish and stuffing of Crab were perfect. I would have liked more of the Cauliflower puree other than just the smear that was on the plate though. My wife's Silver Salmon was also excellent.
My only complaints. 1. They either don't give you complimentary bread like they do next door (same owner) in the Brewhouse or they just didn't bring it to us.
2. I put on my reservation that we were celebrating our Anniversary. It must be for their own internal records since there was no mention of it during our dinner. Minor complaints but I thought I would let them know.
Me and my husband went to Orso’s for a date on Friday evening. We ordered appetizer steak bites, fillet minions with lobster and asked to substitute polenta with vegetables, and we ordered salads. Steak bites came in first and were not bad. Then instead of salads we got our entrees and the amount of veggies on the plate was like a joke. They put one tiny green been and one tiny circle of onion. I would be ashamed as a nice restaurant to only have that as veggies on the plate. Looked pathetic. Steak didn’t taste fresh and was barely warm when they brought it to us. Lobster tasted raw in some spots. Server later came and offered us deserts and we mentioned that we never got salads, so they brought our salads last. We decided we don’t want to have their deserts in case it tastes like all other food we tried.
Thank you Orso for making a celebratory evening even more special. The staff (server and bartender) was very attentive and the bartender was very kind about us celebrating a sobriety anniversary. The food was excellent and presented very well and had great flavor. Hadn't been there in 10 years and can't wait to come back sooner.
Our server seemed distracted. Her attention was given to the party of eight and not our party of two.
I would certainly go again.
Americans cuisine with little Italian accent. Simple menu, clean flavors. We had all three types of salmon and they were done nicely. The cocktail menu is great and they also serve amazing kids drinks: should try the blackberry basil lemonade, it was a hit! The service was exceptional! I would definitely go again
Love the atmosphere and food was delicious! Great experience I was looking for.
I feel this restaurant is over rated. My partner had the halibut which was a very small portion that was not cooked or seasoned very well. He said it was just "okay". For $36.00 it should have been delicious. I had the tofu as I am a vegan. There was no real flavor to it, and it was "okay" as well. I think you can find better options in Anchorage. If you do go to ORSO make sure you ask for the main floor as the upstairs lacks ambience. Our server was very nice!
We were in Anchorage an extra day after our cruise and were looking for some delicious Alaskan specialties. We looked online at the menu at Orso and were so impressed. We had King Salmon, Salmon Chowder, and Crab Legs. The service was friendly, efficient and Janie (boy I hope that’s her name because she was great, but we were very tired so I may have gotten that wrong) was really warm and the food came very quickly. We will go back if we are ever there again and I definitely will recommend it to traveling friends of ours.
Great food, great service. Didn’t ask and they still brought extra utensils and plates so my wife and I could share the crab special. Very good!
This is a great restaurant, sister to the Glacier Brewhouse so it has many of the same feature entrees, but it is quieter and a bit more relaxed atmosphere. The food is excellent. Calamari - great appetizer. Any of the fresh seafood dishes are great. The seafood mac and cheese is one of my favorite dishes in Anchorage.
The food is good with a lot of choices for gluten free, vegan and others!
Great restaurant! Food was fresh and used lots of local supplied ingredients.
My wife had the grilled Halibut and I had a great filet.
I would suggest this restaurant to any of my friends or coworkers.
Six of us met for dinner after not seeing one another for a while. I made the reservation with some concern about the noise level of other parties since we were going to want to catch up. I mentioned this to the reservationist. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a small room off the main dining room where we were seated. It gave us the opportunity to converse in a normal voice and to hear one another. Thank you to Orso for being so attentive to our need. Delicious food and great service, also!
Being from Dallas, it is hard to compete when it comes to eating out! In Anchorage, we had better seafood at some local bars and restaurants about 45min out of town. Not bad, but not great - just average especially for the price.
Food was all great. Waiter was good but had to be reminded about a drink which was an Irish coffee, but it was not very good. Could have skipped it.
Our friends were from Iowa and they loved the two salmon preps they ordered. My wife also loved the crab stuffed rock fish, and my chicken parm was very good!
Always enjoy Orso’s!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Orso earlier this week. The food was well presented, made from really fresh ingredients, tasted incredible and was a perfect portion size. We thought the value for money was brilliant and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend
This was a great place to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent, even though our server was handling a large table nearby.
