very good menu new and different items from most places very friendly parking is easy around the back
Haven't been here in a number of years, and probably won't be back again.
This place is LOUD. Somehow the acoustics are such that the noise from the bar crowd overwhelms any attempt at conversation in the dining area. We were told that it was from a party celebrating some event, but I noticed the uncomfortable noise level on my last visit.
Bread with olive oil served at table was just that. No effort for special touches like cheese or spices mixed into the oil. I would have preferred butter.
Food was adequate, but service was lacking. Had to ask for salt and pepper from a disinterested waitress. Overall experience was disappointing.
Excellent meal! Visiting Boston area for the weekend. Local Inn recommended Oro. No expectations and were very impressed with the quality and creativity both of the appetizers and main dishes.
Always our favorite! Misto not to be missed Cookie sandwich for dessert and anything in-between
We love Oro. Been going there for years. Everything is always fresh and good. The one criticism is that they have not changed their menu since they opened. We walk in several times a year, expecting to find something, anything, just one thing different on their menu, and are disappointed every time. What they do they do so well that we want to see what else they can do! Please expand your scope! Also, "hash" should be called "deconstructed hash," as it wasn't hash but a very delicious pile of large slices of potato and equally large slices of chorizo.
Very nice evening. Great food and service. Wish there was more fish on the menu given it was Friday during Lent. Lots of Irish Catholics in Scituate!
Excellent food and service
Great meal, lovely service— we will be back!
Yum! We were celebrating a birthday and Oro was the perfect spot. Food was delish and mellow guitar music added nice ambience
As a favorite "go to" place for us, friends coming for a visit to the south shore were anxious to try it. From the warm greeting when we walked in, to the friendly wait staff, it didi not disappoint. We went early on a Saturday evening to avoid the energetic level of a full house . We had a chance to visit during our uncrushed dining on foods that were tasty and beautifully presented. I enjoyed the salmon with beautiful crust, served with sweet potato dumplings and pickled vegetables. My dining companions found the lamb shank, seafood risotto, and bavette steak all delicious and plentiful. Everyone was happy with their choices, including the caesar salad. Although we were too full for dessert, we feel the need to plan for creme brûlée or profiteroles for our next trip. Oro seems to have it right; a pleasant place to enjoy nice food in Scituate Harbor, with a fun vibe and warm friendly staff.
Oro is a great local go to place for good food, beautifully presented, in a laid back environment. It can get noisy, but on a quiet Sunday for an early dinner, it was not busy. We love the food at Oro and are rarely disappointed. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The salmon dish was perfectly executed with a nice crust on the salmon, 3 hearty dumplings filled with sweet potato puree, and the accompaniment of pickled vegetables not only looked great on the dish, but the taste was not overpowering. Delicious. My dining companions both enjoyed their Bavette Steak, a large portion perfectly cooked to each of their tastes, and thickly sliced. One of us had a tasty caesar salad which was also enjoyed. We were a bit surprised to see it served in a small wooden salad bowl; different that what we have experienced in the past. It looked a bit odd, but was good. Of course, the wine is always welcome and we had a wonderful meal in a friendly atmosphere which we like.
Oro's never disappoints us. EXCELLENT is all ways. The menu has changed some offerings and we tried two and truly enjoyed them.
Oysters were the best ever! Great drinks! Wonderful salmon dish. Very surprised by how great our experience was. Highly recommend.
Great place for a date night or any special occasion.
Are you kidding ! $34.00 for a delicious scrumptious Bravette Steak with 3 small cubes of squash and virtually a tablespoon of creamed spinach.
What a rip off ! Delicious homemade bread 3 small pieces for a party of 3.
Mentioned on OPEN TABLE it was my daughters birthday and it was New Years Eve. as well.
The Birthday was totally over looked !
Really wonderful dinner at Oro. We started with deliciously fresh oysters and the fried calamari. For main courses we both ordered the pork osso buco with creamy polenta and a red wine reduction. The pork was tender and succulent with a touch of crispness from fried onions that topped the dish. I can't stress enough how wonderfully flavorful this dish was. We had glasses of the Klinker Zinfandel to accompany the meal. Perfect. For dessert we had the eggnog creme bridle which my guest enjoyed and the Apple cake which I thought was a bit dry but tasty nonetheless. We love Oro and will definitely visit again.
Oro is a a South Shore gem, our favorite spot in Scituate. Food is consistent and amazing. Service is outstanding.
Somewhat disappointed in quality of food. I had the haddock and my husband had the shells. We were not impressed. Haddock was completely void of flavor and my husband thought the same of the tomato sauce. Given the reputation and price point, was expecting so much more. Young female wait staffer was excellent. Same with choice wines.
Our waitress was very friendly and informative. My salmon was very fresh and served to perfection. It is a bit noisy, but we did not mind.
The papardell with wild mushrooms was delicious but very rich. My husband had the pan seared haddock which he thought was very good.
We split a Caesar salad which was just ok. For desert we shared profiteroles which were spongy with a smudge of fudge sauce.
Always enjoy Oro except our was very surly and abrupt. Not very welcoming to our group. Seemed put out from the start. The owner needs to remind them on customer service. It was a very quiet night when we were there. Felt like she was rushing us. There are lots of other places to try!
Our first time. Was worth the drive from Cohasset. Waitress was thoughtful and knew her menus and wines. Not a complaint, but portions are large.
Tuna appetizer was a real meal.
Oro is amazing! It has it all: excellent, knowledgeable staff, incredibly delicious food, and perfect ambiance. It is quiet enough for conversing and yet emits a fun, friendly and welcoming vibe.
I have a difficult time eating out due to several food intolerances. The staff were understanding and suggested options for me. The chicken was absolutely the best I've had, moist and flavorful. The chefs are thoughtful and gifted! Scituate is lucky!
Second time here and we were very pleased that the overall quality was as good as our first visit. We were amazed at the large pieces of fish we each had with our meals. We easily could have shared one entree. Great appetizer and salads were full of flavor. Waitress was a bit uneven, but overall pleasant. Good drinks and food. Nothing was overpriced. Great spot to escape from dining in Boston. Upscale feeling in a comfortably small atmosphere. We were here on a Friday evening at six and there was plenty of available off street parking.
Because of "life" we have not been here for awhile but when we walked in we were warmly welcomed by Samantha and Robin. They treat us like friends not just patrons. This is one of the many reasons we dine at Oro.
Waitress was fantastic, as was the food. Would most definitely go back.
If you are looking for a quaint place to eat dinner out in Scituate this is not the place. The restaurant is too noisy and I felt like I was in a bar and not a restaurant. The bright fluorescent lights shining in my eyes certainly did not add anything to the experience. Perhaps the owners were trying to distract me with the bright lights and noise so I would not notice the gas station through the big front picture window. To top things off the food was over priced and the menu resembled a bar menu and the waitress informed us a few of the items on the already sparse menu were not available.
Arrived here for our 7:30pm reservation and were told our table was being cleared - no problem, just about a 5 minute wait. Had a lovely table in the back, where it seemed a bit quieter since the bar area was loud and in the front. Ordered a bottle of wine and cheese board to start. Husband had the pork chop for an entrée and I had the mushroom pappardelle. Both were fabulous. Lovely restaurant, a bit noisy but not horrible, great staff. Would love to go back again
Good food, not memorable. Very loud!!!
Both the chicken and the haddock were delicious. Service was excellent. Very early dinner (5:30 pm). By the time we left restaurant at 7:30, the place was so noisy that you had to shout across the table. Because of the unpleasant noise level, I'd only go again on a non-weekend or hopefully quieter time.
Mistro tuna and salmon... best thing I ever ate. Fish entres were terrific. So was the service.
We LOVED this place, food and waitstaff were awesome but it was LOUD. Would love it even more a bit quieter.
The waitress was great , choices limitef but food was very good my only concern is that after 6 or so the bar noise made the dining a little less enjoyable
Overall we are very satisfied
This restaurant has never failed us. A gem of a restaurant in Scituate Harbor, The food and service is excellent!
Very nice server, patient- we were there a long time talking! Food was delicious! The Paparadelle was outstanding!
Wonderful place for our 20th anniversary. Enjoyed the food and service.
Nice ambiance. Excellent food. Brianna service excellent. Rich
It was an ok meal; nothing to write home about. My husband's greek tomato and cucumber salad came without tomatoes, which is one of the things featured on the menu description. The corn chowder was very good; the chicken was ok if you like chicken leg and thigh. I wouldn't order it again as I prefer white meat.
Excellent food & service, as always! Best salmon on the south shore!
We wanted to go back to Situate where we had our first date 18 yrs ago. Many restaurants in the area we've gone to over the years are the same old nothing new and some have really gone downhill. But found this really neat and new one and we gave it a try. It was pretty good our dishes were unique and could be adjusted if something wasn't to your taste. We had a great seat in a quiet corner as requested and enjoyed the evening! The dessert was delicious I highly suggest the Profiteroles so save room! It does seem to me the chef puts his passion in the execution of his dishes and creating a menu of a finer taste with local support of the suppliers of the food.
Give it a try... we'll go back and like every place sometimes they have off days it might stay good on my suggestion and then again maybe not. But this night of dining was very enjoyable. Good food... good service from Elizabeth and a pleasant atmosphere.
