Are you kidding ! $34.00 for a delicious scrumptious Bravette Steak with 3 small cubes of squash and virtually a tablespoon of creamed spinach.
What a rip off ! Delicious homemade bread 3 small pieces for a party of 3.
Mentioned on OPEN TABLE it was my daughters birthday and it was New Years Eve. as well.
The Birthday was totally over looked !
Really wonderful dinner at Oro. We started with deliciously fresh oysters and the fried calamari. For main courses we both ordered the pork osso buco with creamy polenta and a red wine reduction. The pork was tender and succulent with a touch of crispness from fried onions that topped the dish. I can't stress enough how wonderfully flavorful this dish was. We had glasses of the Klinker Zinfandel to accompany the meal. Perfect. For dessert we had the eggnog creme bridle which my guest enjoyed and the Apple cake which I thought was a bit dry but tasty nonetheless. We love Oro and will definitely visit again.
Somewhat disappointed in quality of food. I had the haddock and my husband had the shells. We were not impressed. Haddock was completely void of flavor and my husband thought the same of the tomato sauce. Given the reputation and price point, was expecting so much more. Young female wait staffer was excellent. Same with choice wines.
The papardell with wild mushrooms was delicious but very rich. My husband had the pan seared haddock which he thought was very good.
We split a Caesar salad which was just ok. For desert we shared profiteroles which were spongy with a smudge of fudge sauce.
Always enjoy Oro except our was very surly and abrupt. Not very welcoming to our group. Seemed put out from the start. The owner needs to remind them on customer service. It was a very quiet night when we were there. Felt like she was rushing us. There are lots of other places to try!
Oro is amazing! It has it all: excellent, knowledgeable staff, incredibly delicious food, and perfect ambiance. It is quiet enough for conversing and yet emits a fun, friendly and welcoming vibe.
I have a difficult time eating out due to several food intolerances. The staff were understanding and suggested options for me. The chicken was absolutely the best I've had, moist and flavorful. The chefs are thoughtful and gifted! Scituate is lucky!
Second time here and we were very pleased that the overall quality was as good as our first visit. We were amazed at the large pieces of fish we each had with our meals. We easily could have shared one entree. Great appetizer and salads were full of flavor. Waitress was a bit uneven, but overall pleasant. Good drinks and food. Nothing was overpriced. Great spot to escape from dining in Boston. Upscale feeling in a comfortably small atmosphere. We were here on a Friday evening at six and there was plenty of available off street parking.
If you are looking for a quaint place to eat dinner out in Scituate this is not the place. The restaurant is too noisy and I felt like I was in a bar and not a restaurant. The bright fluorescent lights shining in my eyes certainly did not add anything to the experience. Perhaps the owners were trying to distract me with the bright lights and noise so I would not notice the gas station through the big front picture window. To top things off the food was over priced and the menu resembled a bar menu and the waitress informed us a few of the items on the already sparse menu were not available.
Arrived here for our 7:30pm reservation and were told our table was being cleared - no problem, just about a 5 minute wait. Had a lovely table in the back, where it seemed a bit quieter since the bar area was loud and in the front. Ordered a bottle of wine and cheese board to start. Husband had the pork chop for an entrée and I had the mushroom pappardelle. Both were fabulous. Lovely restaurant, a bit noisy but not horrible, great staff. Would love to go back again
Both the chicken and the haddock were delicious. Service was excellent. Very early dinner (5:30 pm). By the time we left restaurant at 7:30, the place was so noisy that you had to shout across the table. Because of the unpleasant noise level, I'd only go again on a non-weekend or hopefully quieter time.
It was an ok meal; nothing to write home about. My husband's greek tomato and cucumber salad came without tomatoes, which is one of the things featured on the menu description. The corn chowder was very good; the chicken was ok if you like chicken leg and thigh. I wouldn't order it again as I prefer white meat.
We wanted to go back to Situate where we had our first date 18 yrs ago. Many restaurants in the area we've gone to over the years are the same old nothing new and some have really gone downhill. But found this really neat and new one and we gave it a try. It was pretty good our dishes were unique and could be adjusted if something wasn't to your taste. We had a great seat in a quiet corner as requested and enjoyed the evening! The dessert was delicious I highly suggest the Profiteroles so save room! It does seem to me the chef puts his passion in the execution of his dishes and creating a menu of a finer taste with local support of the suppliers of the food.
Give it a try... we'll go back and like every place sometimes they have off days it might stay good on my suggestion and then again maybe not. But this night of dining was very enjoyable. Good food... good service from Elizabeth and a pleasant atmosphere.
We reserved on a day when they were offering a limited menu (a Sunday with no brunch) which was not communicated to us. They did tell us, once we were seated, we could leave if we were not happy with the short menu, but we adjusted. There were only a few other people in the restaurant and we know their food is usually very good, so we stayed. Unfortunately, three out of four orders were not delivered as requested. The two burgers ordered medium rare were very, very rare. I ate mine although it was purple red, but my daughter left over half of hers because it looked "just too bloody." The request to hold tomatoes from the wrap for another diner was completely ignored. We would have pointed these things out and asked for corrections, but for most of the meal--including when we wanted the bill--our waitress was doing other things and we couldn't get her attention. A really disappointing experience at what I typically think of as a very nice place. We probably won't return.
We've had positive experiences at Oro in the past. The noise level when we went last Thursday made that experience unpleasant. There was a boisterous party of six at one end of the room, and it was difficult to have a normal conversation at our table. At the point we left the restaurant, the party next to us asked to move their table because of the noise level. The salmon I ordered was good, but the risotto my spouse ordered was underwhelming. I am sure we will return in the future, hoping for a better experience.
We arrived early and were happy they were able to seat us at a table by the window. Waitress was very nice but we had to ask for silverware and napkins. I was disappointed with the menu - I had looked at it online but thought it must be abbreviated so I was was surprised when that's all there was. Fortunately there were 2 specials. I would say the place is very noisy, food is just okay - nothing special for the price, we will search for someplace different next time we visit the area.
