Great meal as always. Chris is a wonderful chef and host. Seasonal tasting menu was delicious.
Oro is amazing! The atmosphere is hip & fun. The food is consistently great & Corey is the most fun server! It never disappoints! 😍😍😍
ORO lived up to our expectations and some! What a lovely dining spot with great service (thanks Corey), ambiance and food. The Chef has a wonderful menu and the preparation is stunning. I always enjoy a Chef/Owner that takes the time to visit with each table and Chef Chris did not disappoint.
This is probably our 3rd visit. The food is consistently excellent ... Well prepared, served hot and flavorful. We had 5 small plates between the 2 of us. The calamari was excellent, crab cakes very good, the chicken pot stickers were excellent so much so we got 2. The salmon could have been better in terms of flavor, but it was will prepared. The chef came out while we were there and that's always a nice touch.
Absolutely loved it and we drove for and hour and a half because it’s so good
We have loved Oro for some time now - the space is beautiful, the service is always excellent, and the food has always been delicious. We were slightly disappointed in the food at our most recent visit, though - they have a “fishy” cod dish in place of what was a previous favorite (sea bass), the calamari seemed frozen, and the black eyed pea cakes were not very good. (The cauliflower, caprese with burrata and two desserts were excellent). Generally, my husband and I agreed that the meal was just not as good as we gotten there on several occasions in the past. We will return one more time to see if this was an anomaly because it’s been great before and always means great service.
Restaurant was empty. Food and service was good.
Excellent food and drinks as usual.
This was our third visit to ORO and, I must say, we were somewhat disappointed. Since we've been there before, the portion sizes were not a surprise and the presentation was lovely. I had jalapeno stuffed with pulled pork that was more like mush. Before cutting, they were pretty, bur very unappetizing afterwards. Other dishes were fine; no complaints. Beer list is quite paltry, with no draft beer at all, which I understand is a fairly recent development. Since our table had three beer-drinkers, it was something of a letdown. Our waiter seemed a bit unhelpful and sort of full of himself. A minor distraction, to be sure, but combined with the other issues will make ORO a place we frequent less in the future.
Again, unbelievable! Brunch not to be missed, either. The sausage wontons - sausage soft, wontons fried golden brown and sauce-needed the muffin to finish and clean the plate. The avocado creamy but held its shape with sauce and parmesan crumbs to top it; melt in your mouth. the Lobster creme brûlée - you tasted every ingredient, light and oh soon relish! The challah french toast was not sopping wet, outside riddled toasty dusted with powder sugar topped with chocolate sauce lightly with the coconut whipped cream. The make your own bloody mary bar something to talk about. Many condiments and additional items to add - bacon strips, shrimp, veggies, horseradish-on and on. YOU MUST EXPERIENCE! can't wait to return.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Shared 8 items with 4 people- was the perfect amount. Great flow of food. Appreciated the chef stopping by our table. Will def share the experience with others!!
A must go to restaurant! Not a complaint from any of us. The Mac n cheese to die for, light but creamy you could taste all of the flavors and it stayed creamy to the bottom of the bowl! Unbelievable is the dessert....s’mores adult style! It should be on a video. We just went back for Sunday brunch and couldn’t believe that everything was delish! YOU have to experience the best restaurant in Raleigh!
Always wonderful and good fun in a sophisticated, upbeat atmosphere!
We went to Oro for our anniversary, We had excellent service and the food was very good! The truffle mac and cheese amazing. I would suggest if you order the lobster ravioli, order it first. While it is very good, it doesn't have the bold flavors as all the other dishes we had. The filet was so tender. We really enjoyed the experience.
Our server was extremely nice to us, the restaurant is very elegant but with a modern touch, and their food is out of this world.
The only thing I'd like to make you aware is that the menu suggests that they serve shareable dishes ("Oro offers dishes that are designed for sharing" - To me that means large dishes) when they actually serve tapa-sized dishes (very small cute dishes). I get it though, tapas are dishes for sharing but the wording should be more specific in my opinion so that you know how much to order up front. We ordered 2 dishes first and ended up ordering 4 more because of the misleading menu wording. It's not the end of the world though :)
Other than that, it's a fantastic place for a date or special occasion!!!
Oh my, what a fab place this is! Both the food and service were excellent. The truffle mac ‘n cheese, scallops, ribs and banana bread pudding were outta this world!
Excellent food and service as always. Love the portion sizes.
Great doors! Amazing service!
Very good food in upscale modern environment. The brussels sprouts and scallops were both very nice
Epic night!! Service and food was above and beyond expectations.
Excellent job. Excellent food.
Fabulous experience. Great food and service from great people.
The food and service were amazing. I brought my very special date for our seven year anniversary and she could not have had a better night. The executive chef made a point to visit us numerous times throughout the evening to make sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend for any occasion and especially recommend the s’mores!
Fantastic meal and service, we thoroughly enjoyed the 6 course meal option for two! Atmosphere was a bit loud for us.
Everything was phenomenal! We will definitely dine here again!
Breakfast of the Islands was amazing! Their brunch was a great experience and would definitely go there again. Staff is super friendly and owner personally spoke with us and made us feel very welcome being out of town.
Cannot say anything negative. Not just dinner but an experience. Corey’s service was great and his recommendations were spot on!
Pricey for the quantities, but each dish was delicious !
Great service (thanks Corey), an exciting menu and delicious food. The menu is meant for sharing, and is divided into veg, seafood, and meat. We were advised to go slow, and we ordered a veg and a seafood or meat plate and had 3 'courses' like this between the three of us, so a total of 6 plates. I loved every bite but my standout favorite was the cauliflower and kale.
The restaurant is noisy (as so many are nowadays) but I'd definitely go back, and recommend it to anyone wanting a tasty meal in downtown Raleigh.
I have a problem with the waiter keeping his order taking iPad in the back of his pants. Wow. Please use a satchel or apron to keep it in.
Group of 7 and no other diners so the service and food were great.
Great meal, service and atmosphere. Will definitely return. Corey was our waiter and he was fantastic.
We always love eating at ORO, the food is great, they serve a lot of our favorite foods, we always get great service and I love the wine list!
ORO is an undiscovered gem in downtown Raleigh
Excellent small plates for sharing. The smoky ribs are out of this world
Great cocktails and wines by the glass
Good bar scene
The lower score for ambience was due to the early hour of our dinner it was for 6pm.
I'm sure that the white furnishings with the lights on when it is dark outside is very stunning and romantic. the surroundings were a little new age for us but the food was delish!
We had a very good set of small plates with a very nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. The plates we chose were a cheese plate, pork tenderloin, tacos, and grilled cheese with a yellow tomato soup. Each plate was fabulous and more than enough for the two of us (although our plentiful dinner days are behind us, so 4 plates may not be enough for the younger crowd). Courtney M., our server, was very efficient, friendly, and attentive. We especially liked the spacing between plates as we have been at other tapas restaurants where all four plates were delivered almost at the same time. Great place for a nice dinner!
The octopus was delicious! We also tried soup dumplings that were incredibly unique and great for vegetarians!
The tapas-style food was very good, and six items between the three of us, plus two desserts, was plenty. The wine list is eclectic and a bit pricey. The service was excellent, and the customers seemed younger than average for a Saturday evening dinner in Raleigh.
The food is tapas style and is outstanding. The pork tenderloin and lobster ravioli were particularly good. They have a good wine selection at reasonable restaurant prices. The folks next to us brought their own bottle of wine, but I’m not sure what the feeling is on that. Two suggestions:
1. Major - Please use bigger tables for parties of 4. The initial table we were given for a party of four was much too small. In many restaurants, even in Europe, it would’ve been for 2. When we raised the issue to the waiter, we got pushback that all other tables were booked. When escalated to the manager, she graciously accommodated our request for a bigger table. We noticed later that at the tables we were originally seated, all 4 people were hitting knees together and accidentally stepping on each other.
2. Minor - Use a larger, shallower dish for the creme brûlée. It stays cooler on the bottom and is not quite so thick.
