ORO Restaurant & Lounge located in the heart of Downtown Raleigh, is a fun, chic, and casual restaurant in the PNC Building at the corner of Martin and Wilmington Streets. Rather than offering individual starters and main courses, ORO serves dishes that are designed for sharing among friends and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal. We had a very good set of small plates with a very nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. The plates we chose were a cheese plate, pork tenderloin, tacos, and grilled cheese with a yellow tomato soup. Each plate was fabulous and more than enough for the two of us (although our plentiful dinner days are behind us, so 4 plates may not be enough for the younger crowd). Courtney M., our server, was very efficient, friendly, and attentive. We especially liked the spacing between plates as we have been at other tapas restaurants where all four plates were delivered almost at the same time. Great place for a nice dinner!

The tapas-style food was very good, and six items between the three of us, plus two desserts, was plenty. The wine list is eclectic and a bit pricey. The service was excellent, and the customers seemed younger than average for a Saturday evening dinner in Raleigh.

The food is tapas style and is outstanding. The pork tenderloin and lobster ravioli were particularly good. They have a good wine selection at reasonable restaurant prices. The folks next to us brought their own bottle of wine, but I’m not sure what the feeling is on that. Two suggestions:

1. Major - Please use bigger tables for parties of 4. The initial table we were given for a party of four was much too small. In many restaurants, even in Europe, it would’ve been for 2. When we raised the issue to the waiter, we got pushback that all other tables were booked. When escalated to the manager, she graciously accommodated our request for a bigger table. We noticed later that at the tables we were originally seated, all 4 people were hitting knees together and accidentally stepping on each other.

2. Minor - Use a larger, shallower dish for the creme brûlée. It stays cooler on the bottom and is not quite so thick.

Some of the dishes were tasty and others were just ok. I think I would love this place if I was sitting at the bar with a drink and having some apps with a friend, but for dinner it wasn't satisfying. The service was fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful.

We go for the Truffle Mac & Cheese. It came out warm, and the waitress quickly brought another one piping hot. Delicious!!! It's very quiet to dine before 7 on weeknights.

A great upscale look with affordable prices. White full length table cloths give this tapas restaurant an elegant look. The prices are very affordable for a dinner treat or special occasion. The food is uniquely created and presented eloquently, especially the “smoked” ribs that come stacked on each other covered by a glass dome full of smoke! A great place to pick one or two items for a quick bite and drinks before an event, or after work drinks and a “snack” before dinner. You will not be disappointed!

Pedimos tres platos , que son al estilo tapas, y si bien estaban excelentes, nos resultó caro, sumando el vino, dado que el mas barato de la carta es caro. Se podría ampliar la carta con mas variedad y precio. Interesante la bodega para los vinos, ya que va deslizando como las cintas para valijas en los aeropuertos, pero por sobre la pared. Un poco ruidoso.

From the greeting at the front door. To the menu presentation to the delivery of the food. It was a fantastic dining experience. I love the staggered presentation of the food.

Celebrated our 20th anniversary there at Pro and was very pleased. The food is very good though a little overpriced. The service staff are friendly and attentive, and it is a pleasant atmosphere for a meal. Vey happy.

on the expensive side. The tapas concept makes things a little difficult when you are a party of 3 and most plates have 4-5 pieces.

Oro is one of downtown's gems. The food is always creative, and is delicious every time. The service is always impeccable, whether you're dressed in flip flops or a fancy dress. I love the ambiance and their inventive dishes.

The service was fantastic. The hostess was friendly. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Even the Executive Chef was friendly - he stopped by our table to ask us how everything was and thank us for dining that night. The pork tenderloin and the cheesecake were some of the most delicious things I’ve eaten in awhile. I will definitely be back.

Loved the hip atmosphere, great service and especially the food. Our favorites were the cauliflower and the octopus. Wow, octopus is hard to make correctly. They did it perfectly.. nice, tasty and tender. The salmon was delicious. The Mac & Cheese, yum. We had seven items. All were great. Our only personal questionable dish was the lobster ravioli with caviar as the butter sauce overpowered the selection. We were given the choice to have the food brought out when prepared or one at a time. We opted for when prepared which was fast and gave us more time to hit the nearby breweries and bars for the evening. All within walking distance. We highly recommend. What a fun evening!

We tried Oro for restaurant week. It was by far the best meal we had out of all of the restaurants we tried. We were also celebrating a birthday that night, so they sent out glasses of champagne on the house to our table. The chef came out to personally ask each table how their dining experience was. This is definitely a 5 Star restaurant. A must try!

We had a lovely dinner at Oro. Our waitress was awesome, the food was great, there were lots of choices on the menu. Three of our party ate off the Restaurant Week menu and were very happy with their choices, and one ate from the regular menu and also was very happy.

We sat in the upper level closest to the door on a cold night, the only issue we had was it was warm up there, near a heat vent that was keeping the entrance warm. If we were at any other table up there I think it would have been fine. There is only so much that can be done about something like that, it wasn't intolerable!

Overall a great evening!
