We had a Sunday brunch there and it was very nice. The food was delicious and the cocktails were good. It was an extremely enjoyable experience while visiting family in Boston. The atmosphere was relaxed with good service.
We had an enjoyable meal at the bar. Service and food were on par. Good experience.
I hadn't heard of this place before but everyone I mentioned it to said they LOVE Orleans and they weren't kidding!! This place feels and sounds like your neighborhood bar. We went on a Friday night and it was packed and noisy cause of live music, which was great. Just enough energy when going out with a group of friends for dinner. THEIR FOOD IS AMAZING! I live on the north shore and would drive back to Orleans just to have their butternut squash ravioli again. Best I have ever had. Everyone in my party loved their food. You can tell all their food is fresh and really well done. Great beer menu too. It's just an awesome menu full of comfort food. You can't go wrong. It sounds like it is also an awesome place on game days.
Group of 6 enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Didn’t feel rushed. GM came by and warned us about a rowdy group coming and said they be happy to move us. Very thought very cozy. Food was unbelievable. Must go back
Came with a large party and were treated very well. Good, attentive service and high quality food and drinks. They seemed to have no problems accommodating a party of 12. Will definitely be back.
Food was yummy. Parking across the street in metered lot was convenient. Only issue was that the music was soooo loud. Had to request 3 times for it to be turned down, and finally they did. Once they did, all was fine. We were meeting for business and it was very uncomfortable until they did.
My friends enjoyed their mix of appetizers, but my salad was uninspired and disappointing.
The food was wonderful. The dish I had was truffle gnocchi and it was really delicious. I recommend it to anyone.
Great food, fun to have the sports games on while in the middle of a family dining experience!
Had reservations and was seated underneath the TV. Just a table of two, we don't really need that much space but our seats were horrible and unsteady.
stopped for quick bite, food and drink selection very good. Great job, thank you
Made reservation for two for a business lunch. Great food and beer! Perfect atmosphere to chat.
Very loud classic rock and drunk men at the bar did not make for a great atmosphere. Food was ok. Cocktail was not very good.
First time there, it exceeded our expectations, all in our group were very happy with the meal, cocktails and prices
While the food was phenomenal, it took a while to get to us (30+ min). Our meals arrived only seconds after our appetizers and the waitress was regularly nowhere to be found (I regularly sat for 10+ minutes with an empty water glass). It made for a poor special occasion dinner.
I found it interesting that it was listed under "great for dates" since it was very noisy, particularly with the live music. My fiancee and I found it difficult to have a conversation, even when sitting right next to each other.
Much of this probably stems from a miscategorization of Orleans. It's not a place for conversation or special occasion celebrations. However, it would have been a phenomenal casual place to watch the multiple sports games on that evening. The bar area was crowded and there were TV screens throughout the restaurant showing the Sox, Celtics, and Yankees. The live music was decent, if a little loud. I'd go back, just not for the same reasons that I went in the first place and under very different circumstances.
An early dinner on a Saturday night we made a reservation but didn't seem to need one at 6 PM. Moderately busy considering the location on the edge of popular Davis Square, this place is a fairly simple looking sports bar/pub with nice big booths and tables located outside the large bar area. Subdued lighting with a good number of TV sets visible from all seats throughout the restaurant and bar. Very clean and comfortable with lively music at a modest volume so you can talk easily. Crowd noise is also nicely contained which was a welcomed relief compared to some other popular establishments in the area. The menu isn't vast but it provides a good variety from interesting burgers and salads to flatbreads and salmon, fish n' chips and others. They also have some neat appetizers like the giant soft pretzel we all shared which was really good with a mustard sauce and a cheese sauce. My wife had the truffle gnocchi and I had the jalapeño bacon cheddar burger. We were both very happy with our choices. They have a reasonable craft beer list on tap but it's mostly the well known nationally distributed brands, good but not exciting. We also had a dessert which was a supposed chocolate soufflé but in actuality was more of a flourless torte. Nonetheless, it was tasty stuff. Coffee was also very good. Our waitress had a great attitude and made us all feel comfortable and well served. As a final kudos this place is located right across the street from one of the best public parking options in this high traffic area. Though nothing highly memorable, the food is actually very good and you will likely leave feeling highly satisfied all around!
Went for Easter brunch as a party of 10. This was my second time eating there. Food was pretty good but took a while, the service was slow to check in and rarely cleared the used dishes and cups but otherwise very friendly. Good place to grab a bite but not the place I would go out of my way for.
Easter brunch. Wonderful we will be back for sure. Service was outstanding. The cauliflower was out of this world
The general setting is fun, but the food wasn't great and the service was very slow.
We booked a last minute Saturday night reservation for 7, including an infant. It was perfect. They seated us at a large table by the door, a little bit removed from most of the other tables. The atmosphere was loud enough that the occasional outburst from my daughter didn't disturb the other diners, but it wasn't so loud that we had trouble hearing each other, or to bother my daughter. Our waitress was fantastic. We ordered a side of sweet potato fries with no salt for the baby. They came out in just a few minutes and she loved them. Everything was delicous, including the steak tips - rare. It's so hard to find a place that can do rare steak right. All in all, not a thing to complain about. This will become my go-to place for group meals.
We had a large group and they were able to accommodate us and all the variety of dietary needs of the group. The wait staff was fun and friendly, the live music was excellent and not too loud so we could continue our conversations at the table with no problem.
Was able to get a last minute reservation for 6 and it was worth it! They had a good beer selection (though I suggest trying to get Trillium on their list) and a lot of choices on the menu. I just had a burger, but it was excellent, and the fries were awesome. Definitely a good go-to spot in Davis Square when everything else is booked up. Or even when it's not!
Great place for brunch or getting a beer during a football game. They have a great $6 snack menu that is perfect for when you don't want a full meal. If you're there for brunch, they have live jazz music as well. Great selection on the menu too!
Very slow service. When the food finally arrived, it was all wrong
Came here for casual meal to watch the game - got a last minute reservation for 4 which was really convenient! Our server (Dave I think?) was great and so were the nachos!
I got to my reservation 15 min early only to be told that the kitchen is already closed. Very upsetting experience. Definitely will not recommend going forward.
Great service and the live music makes this place outstanding!
Really good food, service spotty at times as server seemingly disappeared for 15+ minutes twice.
This was my second time to Orleans Restaurant and Bar. Great place for the basic brunch cravings - eggs, bacon, toast, etc. There was live music that was a nice touch to my morning meal; not too loud or disruptive. The restaurant has a bloody mary bar with a wide selection of add-ons for their house bloody mary. The servers were a bit slow to fill our waters/coffees and take away our plates, not sure what the hold up was since the place was not very busy. Overall I'd go back because of their standard brunch menu and the bloody mary bar.
It was ok but I'm not running back real soon. Food was fair. Only positive they had Downeast cider on tip.
The boy who was the entertainment Friday, 8/12/16 was so great!
We had a big group in for a brunch. The food was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. There was some light live music being played on a harp.
We didn't have a great experience with the service. Overall, the server was not very attentive. The biggest red flag when the server forgot to put in an order, he then blamed the kitchen for it being forgotten.
Mistakes happen, but own up to it and make it better.
I picked Orleans as a nearby low key spot for a burger before a movie, but in celebration of my birthday. We were only three, not four as planned, and we were almost ten minutes behind due to a big event in the neighborhood, but were greeted cheerfully and seated right away. We advised our server that we were heading to a movie in just 50 minutes, so to please let us know if that wasn't doable ("no problem") and we'd be ready to order directly. She brought our appetizer within a few minutes, but we had to prompt her for silverware. Every ten minutes, she passed by to say that our order (a pizza and two cheeseburgers) would be "right out," but this happened two or three times until the food finally came to the table with barely 10 minutes to spare. The medium well done burger was cooked to medium, at best. They'd split my side fries and salad as requested, but stuffed the salad into a tiny bowl without any dressing - at that point, no time to fuss. She brought the check and a pizza to go box as requested. Technically, she was attentive, but the restaurant just wasn't getting it done. In retrospect, I wish I'd picked one of the many nearby competitors, like Boston Burger Company.
6 of us got together for a friend's birthday here. We made a reservation that afternoon for 8 pm and we were seated upon arrival. We had a great time! drinks and food were good and everything was reasonably priced. There was a live band but it wasn't too loud. I had a hard time choosing but ended up getting a burger... delicious. I am looking forward to going back and trying something different from the menu too!
I chose to go here for a group get-together and was a little apprehensive because I've never been here and only chose it because they had the space for 9 of us. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious seating and a high energy atmosphere, which was exactly what we were looking for. Although the place was pretty full, the service was above par of what you would expect with so many people there.
Everybody loved the food! Fish tacos were awesome!
We were there on Karaoke night so, by the end of the night it felt like everyone knew eachothe... Overall, it was a very memorable experience and would recommend this place to anyone, especially groups of 4 or more who are not afraid to interact with others as well.
The staff was great; especially our server who was wonderful. We had a reservation and got a nice both in the rear where it was relatively quiet. (It was the first game of the Celtics/Hawks playoff series and the bar was hoppin'.)
The menu is so interesting and different that just reading it is fun. The food itself, however was fine...but mostly just okay. Our first thought was that things were a bit bland and missing out on big flavors that could have made the dishes exceptional. The Fried Pickles were great as was the dipping sauce that came with them and the Fried Dumplings were very good, with a great tasty hoisin sauce.
The grilled cheese was okay, but being on think Texas toast, there was a LOT of bread and the cheese and the bacon got lost. The Pretzel Reuben could have had a much spicier/peppery-er pastrami and more pungent tangy kick to the sauerkraut. The Short Rib stew sounded amazing, but wasn't...the gravy was too thick and had this "gravy from a can" sort of undertone. The short ribs and vegetables in the stew were good. The Almond Joy Sundae for dessert was enjoyed by all.
My thinking is that if one is going to have a menu with so many great sounding things, that the same effort should be put into making taste as good as they sound.
We have been there many times. It's always a great experience.
Great place. We were there for lunch and it was on point. Good was solid, good drink menus, flexible staff... good stuff.
Orleans is your average Boston area mid-level bar (not a dive but not 5-star). The huge selling point is their 30 cent wings and all of the free stuff they showered us with throughout the night. The bone-in wings are the only good option. The boneless wings come with almost no sauce on them, they are not tossed, and the restaurant will charge you for more sauce.
New Years brunch, waited over 90 minutes for food. I'd give it another chance on a non-holiday, the food (especially the steak and cheese egg rolls- better than Davios) was great.
