I have visited Origin for brunch and dinner numerous times. The staff always has great customer service & the food is always delicious.
Although great for those of us who appreciate gluten free we expected there to be more options for those who don’t.
Good food and good service. Thank you!
Always great and tasty!
The ambience was absolutely pleasing and the service was amazing. The food variety would appeal to most, even the picky types. Healthy options are available abs the kitchen/chef accommodates special requests! Reservations are strongly suggested.
Horrible service all around. We counted 4 different people took our order and brought us food. Could not tell who was our actual server. Appetizer took near 20-30 mins to come out. Everything else was slow after. It’s not even that big of a restaurant. Don’t think we will be going back. It’s a shame as they used to be on top of it and provided excellent service. Hope they get their act together.
So, if you really understand food and ingredients then you will love this restaurant. Whether you are paleo, keto, gluten free or just plain healthy, this place will work for you. My family is gluten and dairy free but healthy beyond that and this is one of the few restaurants in Dallas that can really take good care of us. It has the potential to turn into a favorite. I'm still trying out the items on the menu but so far the cashew queso is my fave.
First time trying this restaurant in Knox Henderson area. The humus starter with chips and veggies was terrific. For our entre we had the hanger steak and short rib. Both were cooked just right. Serveral beers in draft to choose from make it a perfect way to enjoy your dinner.
Made the reservation on open table. The staff there was more than accommodating, especially our waitress, Shelby.
The food and service is great. The problem is everything is way overpriced and there's an upgrade charge for everything. I mean c'mon $2.50 for avocado oil is beyond nuts.
I celebrated my 35th birthday here and Chris and his staff made sure my guest and I had a night to remember. I loved the fact that it was small and intimate with COVID numbers ramping back it up. We felt completely safe and relaxed. The food and drinks were excellent. Especially the lemon drop martini! They allowed us to celebrate wholeheartedly, even let us pick the music being played!!! Great experience.
As always, the food was very good, predictable would be a word I'd use.
There are some staples on the menu that should be offered more frequently throughout the day, the calamari and spinach salad is apparently only a dinner item?
I'm not huge on "clean foods" and by offering so much of this it feels as if there are fewer options. For instance, a good mayonnaise would be nice, let the diner decide on that option.
We absolutely love the staff members and are always treated exceptionally well. Here's hoping we can get past Covid and develop a deeper option of menu items.
Bottom line, we love you guys, will always support you and most definitely will recommend you!
A great date night spot with flexible dietary-health choices with un compromised taste
A hidden gem that's a small step up from a whole in the wall. Running down one wall, they have an exposed kitchen grill and good sized bar with a large selection. The opposite wall has booths, and between those two things, tables. Decor is simple, as is the current fashion. We went on a Wednesday evening which was relatively quiet. I can imagine it could get quite loud on weekend nights.
Customers apparently don't have just one server at Origin Kitchen... it's a shared effort across all the staff: I think a total of six different people waited on us throughout the visit. As a result, service was pretty quick, as was food delivery.
Food presentation was excellent. Wife unit had the walnut crusted Halibut special with veggies, which she really enjoyed. I had nachos with short rib meat which was good as well. Minor complaint was that a number of the the malanga chips it comes with (which I really liked) got very soggy from the short rib juice.
We'll be back to try some of their other dishes.
Everyone enjoyed their meal, the drinks and the atmosphere. Server was perfectly attentive. Few minor comments: Egg wasn’t to request and waffle was overly toasted/burned. Made reservations and arrived 10 mins early. Table wasn’t available and booth request was not honored once finally seated (many opened within mins of party being seated). Will be back! Thanks.
The ambiance was very nice, quaint, and relaxing. Sara the waitress was phenomenal! Very attentive, very nice, and not overly intrusive. The drinks were really good! I love the variety! The dessert was great! I love that they offer dairy-free menu items too!
The food overall was great! It needed a little salt to bring out the flavor but otherwise everything was great! The ribeye was so good! It didn’t need a thing but a fork!
Everything about Origin is outstanding. Wonderful neighborhood bright spot.
Favorite restaurant in Dallas! Love that everything is high quality, made with good ingredients, and tastes delicious!
I had White Russian which was absolutely delicious. The food, I find, ok. I had Sunday brunch and it was too noisy for my liking. I had to shout across the table.
Nott so good and very slow service. I would not recommend it.
Good food. Parking tough. Would go back.
The cold appetizer hummus took 55 minutes to get. Each one of us had an issue with our order. Steak was cold, an Expresó tool 50 minutes to deliver, Carnitas lacked seasoning. Manager never apologized just said kitchen was back up.
Wonderful, as always. Food is fresh, delicious and healthy. Dawn was great and took good care of us.
Best restaurant in Dallas. Period. Anything and everything that you order is amazing. What’s great is the ingredients are clean, organic and has no preservatives, chemicals, fake stuff. We eat here every time we come to Dallas.
Farm fresh, pasture raised options, food just OK, our service was slow and the acoustics are terrible, very LOUD!
Very loud, but good food. Good service for Sunday brunch.
Our brunch experience was SO WONDERFUL!!! We absolutely loved our meals. Our group had vegans and meat eaters and everyone was able to find something delicious EASILY from the menu. If you’re there for brunch get the chilaquiles! We will be back :)
Ah-Maze-ing Food was seasoned well and so fresh. Gluten free options and wait staff was so attentive. Love this place
Do not miss the chicken nachos as an appetizer. SO GOOD. I had the skirt steak, which was also delicious. My date had a sweet potato hash which was also excellent. My only complaint is that we were too full to try dessert!
Night out with friends. The food was delicious
Best hidden gem in Dallas!
My second time here. Will definitely return! Service and food consistently great! This was a Thursday at 6:00pm it was just loud. Not so much with patrons as it was from the kitchen and bar. But certainly not letting that be a deterrent. Just will be aware to choose a quieter place if the plan is for a catch-up convo with an old friend :)
It was an okay time. I would go back if I was in the area but wouldn't plan to go there. Food was decent. I ordered an açai bowl with spinach (extra $2). I got one leaf of spinach. I paid $2 for one leaf of spinach. Bacon was burnt and crunchy which I didn't enjoy. Pancakes were fine. Service was great. The waitstaff was wonderful. No complaints there. I had a working lunch and based on the setup of the space, it wasn't conducive. It was really loud and the sound was bouncing everywhere. It was just okay for the reason I needed to be there. Food for my guests was pretty good. Overall, would return but not as my first or second choice.
The server was accommodating and well versed on the menu. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The servings were huge. I look forward to coming back again soon.
This is my second time to give Origin a try. The food is really good but boy the service there is absolutely insanely bad. It was bad the first time I went but it was for brunch so I just tried to go with it. Yesterday's experience was beyond Bad! I truly believe they have a running joke of "let's see how little we can do?". You ask for something and you get nothing then you remind them and still nothing. You have to flag them down to take your order...to fill your water...get sweetener for your tea. I even got asked 10 mins after we paid our bill if we wanted to have our bill split?!?!?! Horrible wait staff!!!
Is really too bad because I really love the food!
The food was OK but not spectacular. The place was very crowded and loud. Service was pretty slow. Our reservation was for 1:45. Our table was not ready until 2:10.
Always a great time!
First time there and was pleasantly surprised! The Chef is extremely friendly as was the staff! The gluten free options were great! I haven’t had chicken and waffles from the time I was a child! Yum!
