Oriental Wok - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
The waitress must have been preoccupied with something else while we were there. It took her an unusually long amount of time to come to the table. We were in the restaurant 1 hour and 20 minutes and it was not busy, it was only 5:30pm. That is an extremely long amount of time for just two people who only had water for drinks and no appetizers. We were almost late for a play. I will come back, but am hoping the service improves...
This is the second time that I have visited Oriental Wok in the past couple of weeks. Both times, the food was excellent and service was impeccable. The group that I was with had never been there, and they are now interested in bringing a group to the restaurant.
We were there for a birthday party. I loved the round table so we could easily converse with each other. The service was excellent. Our waiter John, was funny, nice and took great care of us. Most of us really enjoyed our meals. I decided to try something new and did not like it. Totally my fault!
We took a friend and her non-English speaking family from Liuzhou, China. We were given a special table in an alcove, the owner spent time with us talking with the visitors in Mandarin and making everyone feel most welcome. She made menu suggestions, all of which were excellent, although one was too spicy for my husband. We were treated with a delicious on the house dessert, a specialty of the Oriental Wok and made in-house...Mango custard with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. The decor of the restaurant, and the food, were both described by our Chinese visitors as very authentic, beautifully tasteful. I've never been to China, but the restaurant is beautiful...food and decor many steps above most American Chinese restaurants. I have already mailed a thank you note to the Wong family for their excellent service and delicious food.
Wonderful atmosphere; the staff and management are delightful and really do their best to make their guests feel relaxed. I ordered the fried rice combo this time, and it was good. But, in times past I have ordered the Exotic Mushrooms and Shrimp - that might be one of my favorite meals of all time, anywhere!
Scallops and eggplant dish was exceptional. Love the round tables for bigger groups, though we did not need that this time. Good atmosphere for conversation. Several birthday celebrations around us - looked like fun with hats provided by the restaurant for the honorees, a dessert with candles. Good for a family celebration.
After hearing such rave reviews, we decided to give it a try; we were underwhelmed. Food items ordered: egg roll, cream cheese shrimp roll, sweet and sour chicken, and sea bass wok style. Appetizers were brought to the table and could instantly taste the dirty oil in which the items were deep fried. Both appetizers were OK but nothing spectacular. The sweet and sour chicken was typical of all sweet and sour chicken dishes while the sea bass was wonderfully prepared, again, dirty oil left a resonating foul taste.
Service was absolutely horrible. Our server took forever to take our order and then would disappear. Food was delivered to the table approximately 35 minutes after we had been seated. The server never once checked on us and we had to flag down someone to get water refills. Upon paying the bill, the server delivered the check but ten minutes later, he had not returned. Another server cashed us out.
Overall, not recommended.
Oriental Wok serves good fresh food. Service is great and restaurant has nice decor. This place is on the first floor of a high rise apartment building, and valet service is available. Call ahead to see what the specials are and if the require extra preparation time. This is a fancy restaurant great for special occasions. If you like your meal prepared special, the chef can do it. Enjoy!
The service was absolutely outstanding. Friendliness of our server, the owner, the table attendant was fantastic.
This is on top of such a wonderful menu to choose from and ability to make special provisions. I love dining here. Tried the Shrimp Toast on this visit and what a grand surprise - so delicious.
I will be returning many times as well as telling my friends to visit for lunch or dinner.
