O'Reilly's Bar & Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
I was going to a concert at MSG and had read some positive reviews about O'Reilly's and decided to try it......The service was polite and attentive ......the food was well above average for pub fare.....the menu isn't extensive but I think one would be able to find something that they would like.....I had the a cup of the soop of the day and the fish tacos.....both came in a timely fashion and were very good....they have a pretty good selection of craft beer.....and best of all the bill was very reasonable...I would certainly go back
Close by and convenient to hotels and Herald Square shopping. Very friendly wait and bar staff. Quick and easy on the Guinness draft pull. Dinner menu was varied enough for anyone's taste. I ordered a Reuben, but the bread wasn't toasted-strange. Otherwise, quality experience and reasonably prices.
I met a friend on a Friday evening around 6:30P and had the upstairs to ourselves, so it was easy to talk and catch-up without shouting across the table. Very rare in NYC. And the food is very good. The Happy Hour drinks won't allow for drinks that take more than one type of alcohol, so no $6 margaritas, but other than that, it's a great meet-up place.
We found this place after shopping in the morning at Herald Square. It's a pub, with bar seating and high-top tables, with a few booths and regular tables. We were only the second party in the place when we arrived at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, but the other party was large with several children. It started filling up around 2 p.m. There was only one server trying to do his best, but I could tell he was backed up. He was friendly and apologetic though. Great pub food options with vegetarian choices available. They also offer a weekend brunch menu. Very reasonably priced. I was chaperoning four teenagers, who all had burgers, and I had grilled cheese with soup. Our bill was less than $75 for all five of us, which was excellent for NYC. The food was tasty and hit the spot. I'd go again.
Went for dinner/drinks for my husbands birthday. Hostess was excellent. Our server was not so interested in getting drinks or food. We had to keep asking her for drinks when new guests arrived. I even asked for a dish to eat our apps and she rolled her eyes at me. 20% tip was automatically included in the bill so she had no incentive. Otherwise great energy and lovely joint. Apps and sandwiches we had were yummy
Start by saying, I don't usually review restaurants (only once because it was HORRIBLE). Went here with my 13 yo son. He ordered the Bangers and Mash, said it was one of the best things he has ever eaten. My NY strip sandwich was unbelievable as well. The Irish bartender was so friendly, making sure he spent time chatting with my son about basketball. It was an all around AWESOME experience. We plan on hitting this place every time we come back to the city.
We had a group of friends get together for lunch before heading to an afternoon of theatre. The Beverages were all refreshing and wet as expected, the Stout and Onion soup magnificent and the entrees, diverse from fish and chips to Tuna Salad were excellent. I'll go again.
We had a group of 10 who hadn't seen each other for a long time and really wanted to be able to hear each other talk. We were very pleased with the quiet large table upstairs, despite it being a busy night just before New Years.
The food was fine - nothing special, really - but great for the location and price. The service was excellent.
Will Not Return
My reservation was not honored in full, so a group coming to celebrate a birthday were spread over non-connecting areas or crammed together in a corner by a door that was continuously opened. In fact, space was held for a table not on the reservation for a group of 8 who were on first name basis with the wait staff and manager. Food was good, but the table was not cleared until several requests and even then items were just left. Service was not consistent and individuals got faster service just going to the bar rather than being cared for in our group. I was not informed that individuals would not be able to pay for their meals as they left (though I had been clear in conversation with the restaurant that people would be coming and going throughout the time and would want this option). The response was separation of a check could not be done for a group of more than 6 -- however, the table who knew the manager paid in 4 separate checks. This made the experience very stressful and not an enjoyable time for the birthday honoree.
When discussing with the manager on duty - he was not really concerned or even sympathetic or apologetic at all and refused any help other than to send over a round of drinks to a group that was leaving.
We had great food at O'Reilly's Bar and Kitchen. Downstairs was a bustling bar, but we sat upstairs in the quieter space. They did have a kids menu that my two really enjoyed. Food was great, service was good. An excellent find on our way to the Empire State Building's observation deck.
This was my first time here. I needed to find someplace in the neighborhood for my wife and I to meet a friend.
It was very nice, not too loud and the staff was very nice. The prices were good.
The kitchen took pride in what they were preparing. We started with a sirloin flat bread to share, which was excellent. My wife and I ordered entree salads and these were great. Our friend ordered the hamburger and he was very pleased.
We'll definitely come back.
O'Reilly's is an informal, cozy hang-out, close to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. They have a varied menu, no real stand-outs, but most of the meal was tasty and reasonably priced. We were a bit disappointed in the Shephard's Pie; it was greasy and tasted like the grease hadn't been drained properly. O'Reilly's is a reliable choice when dining, but nothing really outstanding.
