Had a great time for an 38th Anniversary Dinner. Food and service were both great and we loved the live entertainment in the lounge. Everything was cooked perfectly with a lot of attention to detail. This has become our go to place for a very special occasion.
Truly a 5 Star restaurant, if you haven't been here and want a very special meal with someone special don't miss Orchid's. Prices are in line with fine eating. Service is incomparable.
Amazing food. Amazing room, full of Cincinnati history. The hosts/hostesses and waitstaff go out of their way to make it a special experience. However, on Easter weekend the live music was way too loud for older folks with trouble hearing. (And the food was across the board beyond reproach except for a small point - the s'more with cherrywood smoke was fun and theatrical and delicious, but was served cold - a s'more should be a warm dessert even when gussied up. It's only right.)
This was a great experience for our 34th wedding anniversary. The service was outstanding. Rob
Service was outstanding, we ordered per the recommendations and they were right, food was incredible. We had a great time. Definitely one we will return to.
Save rom for dessert - they are the best in the city and beyond
Fantastic tasting menu with wine.
The service here is top of the line. Live Jazz music fills the room. The ambiance cannot be beat with the beautifully hand painted ceilings and marble columns. The 10 course tasting menu was innovative and delicious. We will definitely be back.
A throwback in time -a complete magical, marvelous dining experience
My food was just Ok . It was barely warm and tasted a bit past its prime.
The venue cannot compete with any other restaurant if you want quintessential Cincinnati.
We were very disappointed to see the 3 course fixed menus were discontinued. Lame reason was given.
We went to Orchids to celebrate a very special birthday for my mom. It's extremely rare that a dinner ends up being a much bigger experience than just the meal (though it was FANTASTIC - everything we ate was terrific, everything). Beginning with the initial greeting, then service throughout dinner, dessert and departure, the staff was joyful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fun and professional. The dining room is stunning and the overall ambience felt special. Live music from the opposite end of the restaurant added to the atmosphere without interfering with conversation. This ended up being a memorable night that even exceeds the best dining experiences we've ever had. Thank you Orchids. We know it was a team effort and it was greatly appreciated.
Great food, service and atmosphere. The Art Deco design of the dining room is superb.
Superb choice for celebrating a special occasion. Excellent food, excellent service, not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Dining at Orchids at Palm Court is truly an experience! The staff individualize everything and they work together as a team. The way they are so passionate about what they do and the amount of information and detail they use is superb!
Our experience here was fabulous! One of our most memorable meals. The food was amazing but what made our night so special was the incredible wait staff. Our server ,Chris was so attentive and perfect in every way ! The wine guy was so incredibly helpful and pleasant ... He helped us procure our label! We cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant.
We had a lovely anniversary celebration. Our waitress was very good , the food delicious, and the anniversary wishes very thoughtful.
Delicious fare in a beautiful art-deco setting. The staff was superb and, while pricey, everything was well worth the investment.
New chef, new staff, seemed young and inexperienced. They lost our order, and it was 1 1/2 hours from being seated to getting our amuse bouche, and then more and more waiting. Rolls were served cold. Maitre'd was apologetic, and picked up the tab for us, but that does not make up for missed expectations, and getting stressed out, being very hungry, and angry over lousy service. Food was good - not great, and did not meet expectations from previous experiences with the previous chef. Menu has changed modestly. Only about 20% of tables were occupied on a Saturday night, and after our experience, I can understand why. We won't go back. Try Restaurant L instead for luxury dining at about the same price.
As always the Orchids is a beautiful setting and wonderful food.
This place has dropped a notch since last time we dined there. The ingredients are less than stunning--somewhat mealy sweetbreads, bland slightly tough raw tuna--and the preparations are not as precise. An enjoyable and romantic meal is still be had, in a setting like no other. And the staff is friendly and to varying degrees knowledgeable. Still the music (and the noise) floats in from the bar area and all in all this is no longer "must eat" dining.
Great restaurant but pricey so save for a special occasion! The bread is to die for :)
Met my adult daughter in Cinci for dinner before Hamilton show at Aronoff. Typically I order the tasting menu, but ordered off the menu this time. Squash soup, Maitake 2nd course, and Venison with gooseberries and parsnips made me want to start singing “these are a few of my favorite things.” I wasn’t disappointed. It was all delicious. Wines chosen for me by the glass were delicious and perfectly paired. As always, staff is attentive, friendly, professional, and helpful. The amuse of rutabaga made me decide I need rutabagas in my garden and my life. We decided we didn’t have time for dessert, so the gift of tiny sweets was a perfect ending. And the house made honey granola bar was much appreciated the next morning. We had the best time. I can’t recommend highly enough.
We enjoyed the food immensely. We also enjoyed hearing the live music from the palm court as we dined.
My husband and i love orchids but had not been since the new chef had taken over. We were a bit nervous to be honest but were very happy with what we experienced. Food was delicious and service was amazing. We took our good friends who experienced it for the first time. They left speechless, can’t wait to go back again!
The food was the best ever I tasted
5 star service
Chateaubriand cooked to perfection
Miss Meredith but the supv was a chip off her block!
Wonderful meal with amazing service! The butternut soup and grilled fluke with lobster Buerre Blanc and asparagus is on of the best meals I've ever had and the panne Cotta with vanilla, violets and lavendar cotton candy was scrumptious!
We celebrated my 30th Birthday here and had a wonderful experience! When we arrived to our table there was a note from the restaurant wishing me a happy 30th Birthday. The wait staff also wished me happy birthday and went out of their way to make it a special night!
Still one of our favorite restaurants. We must have caught the food on an off day.
There is no way to describe a dinner at Orchids at Palm Court. Because of an illness I had to cancel a vacation and ended up treating myself to my birthday dinner alone. The staff could not have made me feel more welcome... even with a card & complementary dessert. All wonderful... Five stars is not enough.
Orchids at Palm Court was fabulous as always! Superb food, drinks and service!!
It was magnificent. Food was great. Service was superb
Our favorite special occasion spot, quiet, beautiful, romantic, great service and food. On this occasion the food had some highs, but some unevenness. My husband's lamb was inconsistently cooked with one chop underdone. My duck was the best I have had anywhere, but the plate could have benefited from some accompaniments. There really wasn't anything else on the plate to balance the rich duck other than a tiny smear of parsnip puree. The tuna crudo was delicious.
Outstanding service. The lamb was simply amazing. The salmon appetizer was delicious as well. My husband and I really enjoyed our dining experience.
Always a lovely experience at Orchids! Service is top notch in Cincinnati!
Since I had appointments on Valentines Day & knew I would be traveling, I wanted to have a special dinner with my wife of 51 years on Feb 13. The food was fixed to perfection & we enjoyed the special surprise treats (intermezzos) served between courses. The service was outstanding. The server was delightful, helpful without being obtrusive. She, as well as the chef, made the evening for my wife and me most special.
Everything was immaculate. Waitstaff was friendly, incredibly professional, and detail oriented. Michelin star in the making.
I flew to Cincinnati from Florida specifically to celebrate a friend's birthday at Orchids...it was a "milestone" birthday and I was raving about our experience there 3 years ago. Planned for months, our group was sorely disappointed in the menu and presentation of the food (or lack thereof). Do NOT go by the menu they post online. No vegetables, even for garnish (i.e. a few asparagus spears, some pureed cauliflower, etc) It was 3 dried scallops with a dollop of something pink for one friend and two inch squares of "fat back". Two of us opted for duck. My "aged duck" was served with a garnish of sprout (one) and some white tiny block of something soft under two slices (and when I say slices, I mean 2-3 inch medallions) which we postulated might be "cheese"? Oh, and some "gravy" poured onto center of plate. The other person did not even finish her duck! Now, fortunately, the birthday girl had the fish, which she says was good...but it was only about a 3 inch square of fish. The "fried" mushroom which accompanied it she gave to us, as she does not favor mushrooms - tasted only of deep fried grease...no mushroom flavor at all. When one of the only fish you offer at a place like this is GROUPER, I can stay in Florida and eat that there! We all agreed the "free Gifts" of food samples was the best out of the whole meal. Two of us ordered coffee drinks after dinner...do NOT do this here. $15 for a COFFEE drink? Not sure what happened to the produce; but, I do believe Cincinnati has an Aldi's, if they can't afford to buy some some elsewhere! I (WE) will not be back. Outrageous prices for dollops of garnish and dried out scallops. None of us thought it was worth the price. The only saving grace is the historic surroundings; but you can see that without paying to eat at Orchids!
The best meal WE’VE. EVER. EATEN!
