We both had the Chef's fixe prix dinner, and we shared one wine pairing. Everything was delicious, but it was a bit too much food. I brought some of it home, and enjoyed it the next day. A wonderful way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary!
Orchids at Palm Court, located in the lovely Hilton, downtown is a beautiful restaurant. Food is quite pricy, but absolutely worth the visit!
Three of us went to Orchids at Palm Court on 8/12/18 thinking we were going to get the vegan 10 course grand tasting as we have in the past and it was not explained to us up front that it was now a 5 course tasting until the dessert came out and I asked the server why it was already over and he said the new chef did away with the 10 course tasting and now it is only 5. I mentioned this in my notes when I reserved on Open Table and I only wish someone had called me and let me know before we arrived. Needless to say we were charged a lot for this meal and left hungry. We went to the bar and ordered 3 baskets of truffle fries without parmesan. Now as a vegan I do not feel I can come back here which I hate as I always enjoyed the ambiance, service and wine. Would be nice if the new chef would be more creative for people who do not like to eat any animal products but would still like to come. There are other vegan options out there besides vegetables such as tempeh, tofu, plant based proteins.
Top notch service. They really went above and beyond
The Orchids at Palm Court is the epitome of fine dining. Not only was the service exceptional but every detail was executed with precision. The menu had a variety of interesting options and our meals were delicious. The restaurant ceiling extends for what seems like 3 floors and is resplendent with art deco trim and paintings. Such a beautiful setting! Mid way through our meal, a jazz band began playing in the adjoining bar. The entire evening was a true dining pleasure. Highly recommend dinner at the Orchids!
As always Orchids hits the ball out of the park, from interesting menu choices, to plating, the service is amazing, the overall atmosphere is lovely. A restaurant that everyone should try out, and enjoy an amazing experience.
As usual, knocked it out of the park. We return again and again and have never been disappointed!
Celebrating a birthday. Music and din from bar made it hard to hear each other. Food order mixed up. I finished mine while he had to wait on his. Dessert was amazing. Dinners were excellent when eaten when delivered.
What a wonderful meal! Every part of our dining experience was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond our expectations...even including a beautiful note of congratulations on our anniversary!
Great food and service!
Always delightful. With a new chef, the meals are still very, very good but the multiple eye popping moments are not there since Chef Kelly left. Formerly, Orchids together with Reataurant L, the very best anywhere. Now, still among the best but no longer at the pinnacle. The staff, the Captain- Joel, and the atmosphere still the very best.
The bar in the adjacent Palm Court however could not make a drink because "...it requires a blender, ... and we don't even have one...". This seems inexcusable in a five star facility.
The dinner was delicious. My nephew and I had the Halibut which was superb. The service was beyond expectations, making us feel so special without being overbearing. The servers were so gracious and knowledgeable of the menu. The entire meal was perfect. Will definitely return.
Overall a good meal but very pricey for small portions as is usual in this top end restaurants. Halibut great. But would I come back, no. Plus very cold in here and I. Read this on many reviews on Open Table. Mentioned to Bartender as I walked in for night cap; not much he can do about it.
Service was exquisite and food was incredible
orchids never disappoints. Great food and food aervice in the moat attractive room in all of the ‘nati
Another place whose glory has faded, this establishment is extremely too pricey for the quality of its food. Our experience last weekend was extremely disappointing. The menu, prix fixe or a la carte, was very limited. The main dishes should come with more adequate accompaniments, at least for the price. Plates are huge with a tiny bit of food arranged not very attractively in the middle, which serves to magnify the inadequate portions
rather than showcase a culinary masterpiece.. Minimalism is okay if it's done right, but when ingredients are so sparse it's difficult to present them in an advertising manner. We ordered halibut which came out atop exactly 5 thinly sliced 1 inch long pieces of asparagus, accompanied by exactly 4 miniscule slices of morel mushrooms, which it seemed had been reconstituted. The halibut was dry and overcooked but was decently seasoned. The 2 squares of fish were too thin, especially for the price. (Yes, we leftI hungry.) I don't mind paying 40+ for an entree if the taste and presentation deserve it. Presentation, however, was severely lacking. The baked goods were the highlight of the meal-- basically savory bread balls abs and a couple of tasty breadsticks-- and the post-meal tastes of house-made candy our very attentive waiter delivered were also quite good. Not good enough for our return, though.
We went there to celebrate our anniversary, and had a wonderful time! We both ordered the tasting menu. We were very well pleased with the quality and ingenuity of the courses. Very well done! And served so beautifully! This is our top choice in Cincinnati!
Our dinner and service at The Orchids at Palm Court was far superior to our most recent dinner at 3 Star Michelin rated restaurant Jean-Georges in West Central Park NYC. The service in particular was indefectible, perfect, and faultless. Bravo!
Incredible service. Perhaps the best overall meal I’ve ever had.
The presentation was impeccable and our server outstanding. Somehow the wine and food is more enjoyable in the wonderful Art Deco surroundings.
Orchids at Palm Court is a wonderful dining experience. The service could not be better, with an experienced staff of professional waiters who team together for each table. There are about 5 professionals who cover the 25 or so tables. Each person has a role for each table, one is a lead, another handles the bar, a third liaises with the wine staff, etc. You feel wonderfully taken care of. Silverware is handled deftly and prepared and changed with each course.
There is a newer chef who has initiated a more a la carte menu but you can still request a three- or four-course menu and the staff will stage appropriately. Wine, by the glass, is varied and interesting pairings with half-glasses are encouraged.
Overall, I look forward to my trips to Cincy to have a nice dinner at Orchids. The new chef will find his way but the overall experience remains top notch. Truly a lovely experience in an historic space with lavish ceilings and decor. Really a special evening - to be savored.
We went for my wife’s birthday. We absolutely loved the experience. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional! We look forward to coming back soon.
If you're going to splurge I can't imagine a better place to do it. The ambiance was fantastic. So happy they've kept the beautiful art deco features. The staff was perfect - like a well rehearsed ballet troupe. Food very creative but not to the point of being off-putting. We went for our anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make our evening special. It was a wonderful evening.
Orchids at Palm Court gave my husband and I an exquisite dining experience. The service was impeccable; the food was superb; the ambiance was perfect. We hope to be back again soon.
We had two young children (8 and 10) with us and the staff were amazingly accommodating to let us change tables to a booth where they were more comfortable. The service was genuinely first class and the Orchid Room is so beautiful. Since you are asking, I will say that I had the halibut and I thought it was slightly too salty but that is my only criticism of the entire evening.
It is worth just going to the restaurant just to experience the splendor of the room. The pictures are great but in real life it is even more stunning. This somehow adds enjoyment to the meal. Starters were salmon tartare done two ways. This is simply to die for. Ultra fresh with wonderful flavour. Mains were the lamb. Beautiful subtle flavour and extra tender. Some of the best lamb I have ever had. The other treat was the vegetables that came with the meal. It was like somebody just picked them from a garden minutes before being cooked and served. The service is exceptionally good. They have an extended wine list to please everyone. A wonderful meal from start to finish.
Wonderful food and service. Great menu selections
Food was excellent and it was certainly worthwhile for our anniversary. We were well attended, food presentation was excellent.
Wonderful meal, spectacular service and amazing ambiance!!!
I took my wife and son to dinner to Orchids. Fabulous service and food, we had a great time! We will definitely be back soon!!
We had the snails and salmon tartare (two-ways) for appetizers. The snails were yummy with the garlic tortellini. The salmon was good, and we felt that the smoked salmon was a little better than the raw salmon. We had the lamb loin and the duck breast for the main course. This was the most tender lamb that we have eaten. It lacked the gaminess that you expect from lamb, so it tasted a bit more like beef. The duck was cooked perfectly and was very tender. We had an off-menu “pre-dessert” created by one of the kitchen staff that was so good, it should be illegal; it was a cheesecake with bourbon mousse and caramel sauce. My wife had the chocolate velvet cake with bourbon mousse, which was super-good. Michael (the sommelier) recommended excellent wines for our dishes. The staff is very friendly and we always have a great time!
We had an awesome evening – the food and menu were terrific, service was helpful and attentive, and the setting was amazing 1930’s architecture. The new chef is imaginative and excellent. The menu is fresh and a leap forward. Rack of lamb was a classic and excellent. The halibut was light, flavorful and perfect. They also accommodated a vegan diner with a great gnocchi Primavera. First courses and desserts also great. This place clearly keeps its rank at the top.
Truly a 5 diamond restaurant in all aspects. Service is excellent, perfect balance of privacy and attention. Food selection and presentation top level. Best lamb I have had in over 60 years of fine dining. One can understand why this is the best restaurant in the Hilton chain and the best anywhere in Ohio. Wine list is extensive and varied, but not overwhelming. Our bottle of Albert Mann was excellent and served at the correct temperature. The ambiance is opulent. We shall return.
Perfect setting and experience to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! The service was impeccable and the food from the new chef is beautifully presented, portioned and delicious. The vichyssoise was my absolute favorite but all other courses were amazing too.
The food was very expensive and most the meals are pretty small... that’s the negative. The positive is the food was FANTASTIC! The restaurant was beautiful and the staff was awesome. If you don’t mind spending the extra money then I definitely recommend Orchid!
Absolutely marvelous! From elegant handcrafted cocktails served by friendly bartenders to the polite and welcoming hostess, even before we were seated we knew this was going to be a memorable experience. Knowing the reputation of new Executive Chef Maxime Kien, we barely glanced at the menu before requesting the tasting menu with the associated wine pairings. Because the menu changes every day I won't describe the specific courses, other than to say they were as stunning on the plate as they were on the palate. The wine steward explained the pairings with knowledge and enthusiasm and the wait staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I can't imagine a better venue to share a special occasion.
When we got there the temperature was too cool, but they seemed to have corrected that. My biggest issue is that the music was much too loud and not that good. Conversation, particularly for a deluxe location, was extremely difficult. Other than the Halibut being too salty the food was outstanding.
We took my mother out for dinner to this classic Cincinnati hotel dining room. It has been good always, and has maintained its high standards. This is not to say that it has not changed--it keeps up with the latest trends, without being trendy. The cocktail list was interesting, and the drink I ordered was very good. Every single dish, from appetizers to dessert, was delicious. The portions are moderate. An active athlete might want more food. But for our small group, the portions were wonderful--sufficient without stuffing us. We no longer live in Cincinnati, but this is a destination dining experience we keep in mind.
