Atmosphere was outstanding, service was excellent, food was very good. Pricing seemed steep but you are paying for the ocean front diamond head view. The value is enhanced by complementary valet parking. Had stuffed chicken breast which was a little bit dry but passable. I Had a gin and tonic with the appetizers we ordered. The cocktail was perfect.
The appetizers were a bit pricey but were very tasty.
We ordered sautéed mushrooms as a side to the meal and they (the mushrooms) were exceptional. We had the tomato soup. (Very good) overall we had a very pleasant evening
I would highly recommended but keep in mind it is Fine Dine pricing. (Estimate $100. Per person with appetizer, soup or salad, entree, 1 side dish and desert)
I was very disappointed with our meal at Orchids. We have been there many times before and this meal was not as expected. The food was dry and lacked flavor.
One of the best dining experiences ever on all counts. Pricey but worth every penny. Treated us to dessert in recognition of our 50th anniversary.
Best buffet on island. Pricey but worth it for the food quality and ocean front setting. Excellent service.
What a lovely experience. I’m so glad I chose Orchid for my sister’s birthday brunch. It was perfect.
The Sunday brunch at Orchids is outstanding! Amazing food and even more amazing staff and service. We do Orchids Sunday brunch every time we visit from the mainland - once or twice a year. They remember us and reserve our favorite table. This is a not to be missed experience in Waikiki!
We were celebrating our anniversary, it was outstanding in every way!
The Chef and Kitchen deliver amazingly prepared food and the staff follows thru with equally amazing service. Great setting... a special dining experience. Thank you!
Don't usually mind paying more for a special occasion, food great, service okay, nothing special. For the prices, thought it would have left more of an impact on us.
This restaurant is in a beautiful setting right on the beach, that has a bar perfect for pre dinner drinks while watching dance and live music. The food was lovely and the service was amazing.
If I tried, I couldn't come up with a single negative about dining at Orchids. The setting is perfect, complete with a stunning view of Diamondhead. Service is impeccable -- warm and friendly yet altogether professional. The food is simply excellent. If someone only had one night to dine on Waikiki, this would have to be the best all around choice.
I took my family to Orchids the day after Mother's Day to avoid the crowded atmosphere that usually happens on those Sundays. My mother appreciated this and we enjoyed a nice lunch there. Unfortunately when arriving, no one was at the front. I assume that they were setting up and possibly recovering from what must have been a very hectic and busy previous day, so it was understandable. However after flagging some one down we got seated at a table and what a view. The water, and a nice view of Diamond Head was spectacular. The lunch menu was small and easy to choose from, two choices. Onaga was the Signature dish, and both my mother and I loved it. We also had some nice iced teas, and of course the desert of coconut cake which was very good. I will go back on a Sunday just to see how the brunch is, probably with friends. But overall, I was very happy that the staff , the food, and the view made it a nice place to celebrate a special day for my mother.
Did not recognize our anniversary or privacy seating requested in Open Table reservation
Peacefull, scenic, elegant. Menu just enough variety, but each item with some flare. Very helpful and attentive wait staff.
Went for Mother’s Day & the Service took a little too long when we arrived. Had to call on a server who was passing us by to summon our server. He came immediately and from that point everything was fine. We ordered cocktails and appetizers and it came promptly. I had the crab ravioli and my son had the shrimp & scallops. Food was excellent and although it looked like a small portion in the big bowls they served it in, it was really filling. The ambience was nice and relaxing, and the sunset was beautiful. There was a man in a party of 4 that was obviously drunk and getting a little too loud. Luckily we were leaving by then.
We were there on Mother’s Day. We were very impressed with the restaurant from the time we walked in until we departed. Our meal was delicious and the service was spectacular.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere - nothing to fault. We came for our anniversary and they made us feel very special. Every course we had was excellent. We felt the price that the bill was extremely reasonable for the level of food and service we received. Best meal we have had in Hawaii by a long way
Lovely setting;; great food; outstanding service!!

Every year we treat my mother to Mother's Day luncheon with my brother and sister. Orchids never fails to deliver a great dining experience. Good food, good service (though this Friday it was a little slow), great atmosphere.
Beautiful night at Orchid celebrating our anniversary. Delicious food, great service and a lovely setting. Having the Hawaiian music in the adjacent restaurant is an added bonus. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you have cash to splash!
The location was great right on the beach. We were fortunate to have a show going on at the neighboring restaurant that added some excitement. We received a complementary dessert for celebrating our special occasion!
Great food and ambiance, as usual. However, the waiter had slacks on that were easily 6" too long and bunched up at the bottom. His shoes were old and tattered, like something a homeless person might be wearing. Seems like the restaurant management would take more care in assuring the wait staff has a professional, appealing appearance for those dining at one of the most expensive restaurants in Honolulu.
I will admit I was disappointed. The meal started off so well as I had reserved a table at least a week in advance and I notified the restaurant that I require gluten free food. I also informed the restaurant that it was a special occasion: our 20th wedding anniversary. We had spent our 10th wedding anniversary at this place and it was so special and memorable. But in the 10 years that had elapsed, I became GF. And not by choice... I had to switch due to health reasons. I had GF bread with my salad, which was a first. Most restaurants don't do that. The lobster salad was excellent as was the Hawaiian sea bass. The meal itself was quite good... until the dessert. The waiter brought out a slice of their signature coconut cake with "happy anniversary' on it. Nice gesture, but I couldn't eat it. I looked through the menu and all they could offer me was gelato or sorbet. Really? I can get that at other restaurants and I had been hoping for something special. Gelato or sorbet doesn't cut it. The waiter asked if I wanted fresh fruit, and the answer was "no". But... he brought out a fresh fruit plate anyway. My husband ate the cake, which he would not have selected, since it was at our table and I couldn't eat it. then they brought out something else for my husband, and I got another fruit plate (this time strawberries and blueberries). I have this issue at other local restaurants, but I had been hopeful with a more high end restaurant, that there would be better options for those with food allergies. I understand the dilemma and the cost issues surrounding this food allergy, but a bit more effort would have been nice. The restaurant had early notice and I felt disappointed. we will not be back for a special occasion, not at those prices. I had been to another hotel (Kahala Oriental) and they were given advance notice and I had GF cakes and wonderful, tasty options. Not just gelato or sorbet.
This is a beautiful restaurant! We had breakfast and everything was excellent from the popovers to the scrambled eggs and Loco Moko. Michael was a great waiter and provided excellent service. Going back for dinner based on breakfast!
Absolutely top notch dining experience! All the staff acknowledged my partners birthday. She is gluten and dairy free and they helped coach her through the menu to get her the best choices. Jeff our server was fantastic. Highly recommended!
The food was outstanding and service professional. The restaurant has an elegant ambiance to it, but despite having been told about the dress code was no shorts and sandals, we still saw plenty of gents in shorts and ladies in sandals, which made us feel terribly overdressed.
It was a nice touch to have our anniversary mentioned by staff as per our reservation and been offered free desert.
All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and were happy to spend our anniversary here.
Excellent as always.
It was our friend’s 57th wedding anniversary celebration and Orchids was the perfect Restaurant to celebrate it! Service was excellent as was the food. The setting is lovely. It’s a must if visiting Hawaii!
Orchids' brunch is outstanding. They have a large, varied selection of most any type of food you could want. Everything is made on the property, including the delicious ice creams! Our server, Tony, was as delightful as he was efficient and helpful. Am amazing experience!
Very special place to celebrate a 70th birthday. Food was exceptional as well as the warm service.
I've never had a better brunch; this is the best---
Great food! Stunning ocean front view!
Lovely evening and wonderful food, as always. Highlights included a spectacular sunset and a slice of Orchids’ famous coconut cake on the house to celebrate our anniversary.
the staff were exceptional, accommodating and proactive around sunset, wine and food. the experience was first rate and such a memorable sunset we could not have asked for more. We ended the evening in the Piano Bar, just a great night had by us all
Thx to the entire team and special thanks goes out to Darrell Kawasaki for his attention to detail and his pro-activity before we arrived.
Food was great; customer service excellent!
Its hard to find a better place.
Beautiful setting along the oceanfront. Impeccable service and excellent food. One of our favorites we always visit when in Waikiki
