Orchids at Halekulani Ratings and Reviews
A fabulous and wonderful dining experience. Everyone at the hotel is exceptional and highly professional. Both afternoon tea and breakfast were memorable and lovely from beginning to end. The view is also beyond magnificent. Adjoining shops add to the joy of spending time at this fabulous resort. A true gem in the Pacific! Highly recommended.
I went to Orchids for afternoon tea, and this was one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. The indoor/outdoor quality with the orchids, birds chirping, and the beachfront view created a surreal and beautiful atmosphere. It wasn't crowded during afternoon tea, so it was very quiet. Everyone from the reception desk at the hotel, to the hostess desk, to all the servers were friendly and gracious. I would describe the entire experience as relaxed elegance.
I had invited several friends to lunch before the end of 2017, but for one reason or another, we never could all find the time to get together. So, for the New Year, I thought to arrange another luncheon and it was superb. None of us had been to Orchids since the departure of Vikram Garg and the change in menu wrought by Christian Testa who added several kinds of pasta to the Halekulani classics was much appreciated. Moreover, one could arrange to pre-authorize the charge card for payment of the meal cost and gratuity through the thoughtful efforts of the dining reservation manager, Kuulei Lipton, so payment for our lunch was seamless and without any hassle over the check. What was best of all, though, was the kind and attentive wait staff who allowed us to linger long after we had completed our meal and we ended up at table for over three hours in a delightful atmosphere. A superb lunch. Highly recommended!
Beautiful spot, professional wait staff, a meal to remember! Wine selection by glass very good and not crazy prices. Beef dishes pricey but seafood and pasta options available
Everything was delicious and gracious. Wish we had tried the coconut cake as read afterwards it was a chef speciality. We will definitely return!
Service was really bad, forgetful server, fumbled through menu, forgot our coffee, just took too long for half empty night...menu so limited, dress code now like Like Like Drive Inn, .. won't be back for regular lunch or dinner, until menu changes and dress code changes, ...only attending special day buffets!
I was taking a friend to lunch. She was leaving the next day for Europe, and I wanted her to leave with a fresh memory of Hawaii. A nice outside table at Orchids was what came to mind. With my reservation I requested a table with a view and we were given a wonderful, private spot. Delightful. As was the food and service. With so many good restaurants in town, I don't visit any one place that often, but my consistently good experience at Orchids tells me I should dine there more often.
Awesome coconut cake. Unfortunately I did have very bad loose stools later that evening. Must have been something I ate.
Bread - 5, labash -7, olives a-5, butter 8 but had to request more. Salad -7 but rusty ends. Entree's - 8 . Could use more generous lux portions and supports i.e. Starch. Cake 10 all night long. Could use more accompanying drizzle, a few garnishing pcs of tropical fruit fruit or berries and some addl mint garnish. Service - 10 Wonderful !!!!!
We’ve been here many times for Sunday brunch but never for lunch on a weekday. I had the crab lobster salad/sandwich and it was absolutely superb. The hot bread they bring to the table before the meal is magnificent and lobster bisque was fantastic! We always see the same servers and they always impress us! Favorite!!! Love this place! Ask for a table by the water! View of Diamondhead is amazing and we never get tired of it.
We celebrated a belated anniversary dinner at one of our favorite restaurants... The menu has changed but the ambiance, service and quality remain superlative. I had the lobster bisque and filet with foie gras, my wife had the baked salmon. They offer a great selection of wines, both by the glass and bottle... Finally, dessert was a coconut cake (from Orchid's) for my wife and a chocolate bombe tiramisu for me. Highly recommended!
We are from Sydney and celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at this restaurant. The staff were so welcoming as soon as we walked in and wished us a Happy Anniversary! The ambience is so perfect on ocean front and we had a quiet table and the food was superb. Thank you for your lovely cake for our anniversary. We will definitely be back next time we visit Honolulu.
There were too many server errors for such a high end establishment. The food was okay, not spectacular. Steaks were not cooked as ordered and overdone. Also, the easiest thing to prepare was also messed up. My green tea was a light green color and had no taste like drinking hot water. I also ordered their famous Coconut Cake and the waiter completely missed my order. Unbelievably riddled with mistakes the entire evening. A server spilled cream and water on one of our guests and also mixed up the after dinner coffee and tea. I was so embarrassed since we were treating another couple who was visiting for the first time and went here specifically because it was a 5 diamond restaurant. Was way overpriced for the errors that were made. The only plus was the location near the beach and the view. You can’t count on that only. Highly doubt we will ever return to Orchids at the Halekulani. Should’ve picked another high end restaurant instead.
After *considerable* deliberation - there are plenty of restaurants in Waikiki after all - selected Orchids for my 60th (sigh) birthday dinner and were not, in any way whatsoever, disappointed. The food was truly magnificent and the wine list (somewhat) varied, if a little pricey. The service was totally impeccable - attentive, friendly, helpful and unobtrusive - and the ambiance and location just perfect. Why there were so few other diners - though it was pretty late in the evening - will forever be a mystery to me, but there you go. Would we go back?? Absolutely, in a heart beat (but after saving our pennies hard and long; unfortunately!!!). Guess it's true that you do get what you pay for in this life,
We have now eaten here twice and the food and service have been exceptional on both occasions. The first time was with a large party of ten and the second time it was just two. Both times we were treated as treasured guests and the food was consistently delicious. I would highly recommend this place. Eat on the patio if at all possible.
