We had a reservation so that we could watch the sunset on our last evening in Hawaii. It was spectacular. The food, service, and ambiance gave us lasting memories. Although they did not have a specialty drink list, the wine list was extensive and they did have a full bar. We didn’t need that specialty list having had those drinks at numerous places already. It doesn’t matter what food you order it was all well prepared and you cannot go wrong. Mahalo Orchids. Until we meet again…
Main entree was delicious, serving size could have been more generous.
Food and service wasn’t what I expected.
Great setting with spectacular full ocean view from our table. Food was outstanding.
Beautiful view. Staff was very friendly and accommodating
Beautiful setting, superb service. The food was unique and delicious. The only issue is the price. $150 for 3 at lunch is rather costly.
Everything was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wonderful dining experience!
We had seven in our party. Seven different entree were delicious. Our entrees were a variety of filets, sea bass, shrimp and scallops and spaghetti. The lobster bisque was the best I have had. The courses were nicely spaced. All food was served hot. The homemade rolls were a special touch. The food is a bit expensive but because of the high quality it is worth the cost.
We've been going to your hotel and Orchids restaurant for close to 30 years.
Always a pleasure!
Thank you for your hospitality.
See you next year.
Great food and service! High quality food selection. Extra attentive service. Coconut cake the best!
It was so pleasant and relaxing. The food was amazing and the view of the sunset was too!! Thank you so much…
We had dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary while in Oahu. This place is lovely. The location is fantastic, service was attentive, and the food was fabulous. We would highly recommend this place for dinner. The was some music playing next door which was quiet and very pleasant to hear in the background.
We always return to the Halekulani for a few meals on our travels. The staff was a bit rushed on the morning we were there for breakfast and unfortunately the menu has become a little more limited. Probably because of the pandemic. Still worth the visit. I would normally give it a 5 star review but I think the pandemic lowered it a notch. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.
We loved the view and the special feeling watching sunset and music dining at Orchids with outside music played at House without a Key … but I was a little shocked in how ooor the service was … Forst the waiter Dan asked us to cash out on our drinks before dinner rather than transferring the bill onto our dining .. as we had a drink INSIDE ORCHIDS .. also waiters missing the beat .. forgetting silverware when serving courses on the $150 pre-fixed menu , taking my sparkling water glass away and not offering to bring more ?? … I went DRY OIVER AND OVER during dinner at our beautiful CORNER ocean front table. .. and could not eat what they brought me until they had to be reminded to bring SILVERWARE TO EAT !! Over and over.
We always stop in at least once. It's amazing what a different world you step-into from the hustle of Waikiki as soon as you walk behind the entry fountain. There is no more relaxing place in Honolulu, service is great, and food is simple but well executed.
The waiting on line and even further waiting after we were checked in was poor planning for the number of guests. We waited 30 minutes beyond our 7:30 reservation. The food was plentiful but not a five star rating. The lobster could not be taken out of its shell, the same with the crab legs. The condiments offered were so minimal that we had to ask for more…. Which was also minimal. All in all the fish area was not satisfying. The prime rib was not good and once again the au jus was minimal even when asking for more. The turkey was very good but all other meats were dry or fatty. The sides were good but once again very difficult to get condiments to satisfy the meal. The desserts were excellent but when asking for the bannana foster… it had less than half a scoop of ice cream and an extremely small portion. We are not big potion eaters. All in all… we would not return as the rating I would give it would not coincide with the pricing.
We had an incredible time!! Our servers were both excellent and we really enjoyed getting to chat with Tyler! 10/10
Firstly, we arrived 15 minutes early and tried to check in. We were told to wait on the side so our table could be set. Half an hour later and several large parties who came after us and were seated, I decided to check if our table was set yet. They forgot about us, and all 3 hosts left the front counter to scramble to get our table set. Poor opening impression.
Usually this venue is an open buffet but because of covid restrictions, we had to stand in a line and request what we wanted. It's understandable, but this caused long lines, extended waits ,very slow and the food lines were cramped with people. Also, less variety of food was available due to the lack of space. Unfortunately we didn't like this set up, and didn't come up for seconds. (I suggest having multiple servers per station. Many elderly come to this buffet and they can't stand too long. Nor can they clearly communicate what they want. Family members needed to go up to make a plate for them.)
The Thanksgiving turkey was dry as usual and unedible. It has been a running joke among our family that Halekulani's turkey is dry and over cooked. And we've been coming here for over 20 years. But the raw fish, poke and sushi was on point.
Our wait staff was awesome and attentive as usual. First class service, which made up for the check in process and long waits in line. And our table facing the Pacific Ocean was nice.
Overall it was good. This food setup is all new to us, but I guess it's just the current norm. I honestly feel the limited variety of food, the quality of the doneness of the meats and the waiting process, doesn't make the price a value as it once was.
Beautiful restaurant with great service and delious but pricey food. Get an outside table with a view of Diamond Head
We each did a price fixe menu - there were 2 choices. It was good overall but I was expecting a bit more in flavor. Each dish was cooked perfectly - it was just lacking in flavor.
Staff were attentive and nice. Overall a good experience.
food was ok. but the view is a must come to enjoy lol. highly recommend due to view and service
It’s a lovely setting and the kitchen does a great job. We are regulars at the restaurant. As with many establishments, the lack of front-of-the-house staff is a huge problem right now. Service is really suffering as a result.
Excellent cuisine, wonderful service. Great views. This might be one of the best places to have dinner in Waikiki. The waitstaff is excellent.
Other fine dining in Waikiki has been disappointing in portion size and food quality. At Orchids we were amazed by the detail and dedication to everything from multiple servers taking care of silverware and water to the exquisite flavors of the food! Additionally, the ambiance and quiet closeness to the waves contributed to an overall romantic and special experience!
Excellent service and incredible food! Special thanks to Craig our waiter for his service and attentiveness!
Outstanding service and food. I accidentally booked dinner one week ahead but despite being full the restaurant accommodated myself and my family.
Absolutely lovely dinner, first row ocean front, with a stunning sunset. Very professional and attentive service. The management/chef surprised us with the Signature Coconut Cake for our 21st wedding anniversary. We were very touched by this thoughtful gesture. Definitely recommend for a romantic evening, at sunset.
A must when in Waikiki on the week-end!
The breakfast buffet is the best meal I have ever had in Hawaii and this includes years of holidays on Oahu, Maui, and the big Island of Hawaii. I am so thankful that I chose Orchids. The hostesses at the desk we're polite and efficient. The oceanfront table was superb. The tables are spaced far enough apart to provide a more intimate experience. Our server Philip was very nice. Table was cleared by the time we returned with more food. The oysters are gigantic and I am a native New Englander so I am not exaggerating. The poke choices, sushi, ramen, meat stations, omelet station and desserts were all excellent. The ambiance at Halekula is even better than the Kahala.
The foods are great and services are excellent overall experience excellent.
The setting, on the beach at the Halekulani in Waikiki Honolulu, is beyond compare. Food quality was outstanding. Service from Scott was excellent. BUT......his teammate kept trying to rush me. Rush me to order. Rush me to leave. Don't these guys talk to each other??? Scott and I had a wonderfully agreed approach. The others didn't seem to know or care.
As someone who has food allergies but loves tasting menus, they were very accommodating. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I had a great experience here!
Always our 1st night's dining choice when often in Honolulu. Superior service and the joy of hearing the local musician performing across the lawn. Unfortunately the experience this time was disappointing. Made reservation 7 months ago with our typical seating request which seemed to have escaped the host's attention so we ch I se to wait additional time beyond our reservation time. Also, menu still very limited, though still delicious. Hopefully soon they can be back to their former glory.
Lovely setting overlooking the ocean and Diamond Head with the wonderful band and hula dancer to entertain us. Food was excellent. Best Mai tais on Oahu.
YAY!! We are absolutely delighted that "Orchids" is open again!! It has been one of our favorite places for many years.
My husband and I took a business client here for lunch yesterday. Delicious food, great service, fabulous view ~ everything one could ask for. (The client, in town from Hamburg, Germany, was very impressed.)
We're looking forward to our next visit to Halekulani!
Great service and food. Staff very attentive. Appreciated recognizing our anniversary!
Wonderful Experience 👏
Saw excellent video on YouTube from Steve and Rene' day off https://youtu.be/hFjw4zniwXA
We were not disappointed. Food was awesome. Loved the oysters, crab nigiri sushi and prime rib. Desserts top notch especially Bananas Foster.
No lines to buffet and staff all 5 star service to make sure cvd protocols were followed. Been to Plumeria seafood buffet and 100 Sails and this was by far the best. Welcome back Halekulani! Will definitely be back
food was outstanding and service amazing. No lobster but eggs benedict some of the best ever. Such quality and amazing service is a MUST
