So on arrival the views are stunning, whether sitting inside or outside you have a clear view of the ocean. So with such a view you expect the food to be mediocre - NOT so in this case - every course was incredible - not only in presentation but also the blending of flavors that truly delighted in each bite .. WOW !!! we are used to fine dining Orchids exceeded our expectation - Orchids truly was the best restaurant that we went to in Waikiki and we will definitively be back !! A++++
The place was outstanding as it overlooks the beach/ocean... seeing the sun at it set from the horizon.... very romantic. Food was very taste, delicious and having lots of wonderful flavors. Overall ambiance was superb. The service was on the other hand was just okay, I believe because they were busy and it’s their last dinner service... closing for a while due to COVID-19. But it was our anniversary dinner and I was expecting the service that’s comparable to what I believe they are known for and for the price I paid. They basically left us alone, which was good, giving us a chance to talk. We were there almost 3 hours, and a few times our glasses were left empty for a while (25-30 mins or longer). Drink offers (i.e. wine) was not done. No inquiry as to how was our meal, and also they forgot that it was our anniversary, but the waiter did acknowledged it at the end, when he gave us our check, and provided another dessert to go. Overall, the place was good, still recommended (I guess)... but I was expecting for the experience to be outstanding, which was a let down. Thank you.
3/19/20 was the last sit-down dining before restaurants are forced to close for the coronavirus. Wanted to support one of our favorite restaurants.
We enjoyed the generous serving of foie gras appetizer, magnificent veal chop cooked to perfection & king crab raviollo mains. The sunset was spectacular, many customers got off their seats for photo shots.
Hoping that the closures don't last too long.
Best service of my life. You MUST get the Teremasu, it was my wife's and my favorite dessert we have ever had.
If we are back on Oahu we will be back. We aren't rich either, but the entire experience is totally worth it.
Amazing food in a beautiful setting ! The portions were a little small but phenomenal ! Don’t miss it!
Attentive service and the feeling of the table staff was also good. It feels good to call my name.thank you.
Really nice ambiance with view of the beach, service was excellent and staff was friendly.
Can't beat the ambiance and closeness to the ocean.
Service was wonderful, but at times a bit slow. But I think the servers thought we wanted to take an extremely leisurely time at dinner, so we can't really fault them.
Orchids is class with a casual flair. The service and food top notch.
Our luncheon together at Orchids was an experience beyond expectations. The servers were helpful and friendly. The food was a beautiful sight to witness and was outstanding. Many photos were taken to remember the delicious experience. Thanks for a great time.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth watering Appetizers and Entrees. We had the Fried Calamari and Beef Tartare. They were exquisite. For the main course we had the Homemade Lasagnette and the Orchids Seafood Curry which really delighted us. Because it was a special occasion, my birthday, we were treated with the famous delicious Halekulani Signature Coconut Cake. The waiter was very attentive. For this we highly recommend going to Orchids.
This is a great location with great food.
We were not informed about the early kitchen closure due to lack of customers cancelling due to COVID19 scare. We felt rushed as the manager came out to ask if we would order as the kitchen was closing. The dish my wife ordered, a sea bass dish was bland. Disappointed with the food, but the service was otherwise excellent.
The entire dining experience is fabulous- from start to finish
We usually go to Orchids or La Hiki in Ko Olina for Sunday Brunch. Orchids has a better selection of fish and seafood as well as better desserts than La Hiki. La Hiki, though, has the steak and lobster which some may like.
Orchids at Halekulani is definitely the BEST! Our server was AWESOME noticed and thought of EVERY need. She was really wonderful. The food was GREAT, really fantastic spread! The piano player added nicely to the beautiful ambiance. Overall we had a marvelous Sunday Brunch and I already made reservations for my next visit! MAHALO!!!!!
I had a great time!!!
I’d like to go there next time
We come here every time we visit Honolulu which is a few times a year. Love the view and ambiance. The food is not so bad either. I highly suggest dining here, especially for lunch.
Most amazing dinner!!! Perfect table for sunset viewing. Superb service and delicious food.
Fine dining at it's best. So glad we chose Orchids for my birthday celebration. We enjoyed a gorgeous view of the sunset, a band played next door and the service was outstanding! We both ordered the tasting menu and each course was perfect. Price is expensive, but worth it.
Perfect spot for a leisurely lunch with girlfriends.
We love the Orchid Room and Lewers Lounge at the Halekulai. Food, atmosphere and staff, from Jason to Wayne, every visit is a joy.
Spectacular. Beautiful. Understated elegance. Food and wait staff incredible.
The setting is fabulous and the endless supply of food is amazing. Everything looked and tasted delicious. The brunch price was high (averaged about $100 per person, all in) but it was totally worth it.
Food was absolutely amazing, plated beautifully! My absolute pleasure and thankfulness to the pastry chef for that coconut cake. Like WOW! Best cake I’ve had in my life! Service was Awesome, everyone was so attentive and really nice. Entire night was rememorable
My husband and I went to the Orchid and the service was excellent. We got the steak and the shrimp and scallops. They were both well portioned and tasty. My husband also got the Mai tai and they were well presented and tasted very good.
Beautiful view, excellent service, a little disappointed that the music at House Without a Ley ended at 8:30 pm. Music helps with ambiance when it is dark and you have no view
Outstanding service and food!
Fantastic experience! Food was incredible as was the service. Gorgeous setting and live music. It really doesn’t get much better.
We had high expectations and Orchids expected them. Lunch or dinner is must-do for locals and visitors, can’t wait to dine there again.
We were celebrating a very special leap year birthday for my husband who turned 72 or 18 in leap years. Our reservation was noted about this occasion but the restaurant fail to acknowledge his special day. In comparison two nights later we very sited ale Mer and they bent over backwards to make him feel special.
Our experience at Orchids is always very, very enjoyable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, our team of servers very attentive and pleasant. On this occasion, we sat on the terrace facing the House Without a Key so that we enjoyed the live Hawaiian trio and the hula dancer. The venue, on the edge of the beach, is classy, beautiful, and romantic.
Service at Orchids was phenomenal. The view of the ocean at sunset was also spectacular. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time with our dinner. The service was very good and very accomodating to our needs. We will be back for more and highly recommended to all. Thank you.
Terrific view, impeccable service, incredible food. You can hear the live music from the outdoor lanai/lounge on Thursday nights which made the experience even more magical.
Do note that the middle course pasta dishes are big enough to be an entree, so be careful not to over-order like we did.
Look forward to going back soon!
Delicious breakfast with calm atmosphere while watching the sea. Worth going once
Very very good.
