This place has million dollar ambiance and million dollar prices but unfortunately the service and food on our evening was absolutely dreadful. My wife and I were seated promptly on arrival at 8:20 for a late dinner. We had three waitstaff serving us. The older gentleman was very attentive however he was only helping clear dishes. The other senior and junior waiters were simply not attentive throughout the meal
It seemed at first they were giving us time so we didn't feel rushed but they were not paying attention enough to notice when we had questions about wine and ordering, were ready to order or had finished a course. They either did not have a sommelier or unwilling to call him - surprising for a restaurant of this supposed caliber. The wines they suggested were either cheap wine by the glass or $200/bottle. Even at that there wasn't a very big selection. But this wasn't the worst of it. When we finally got our main course - filet mignon- it was cold. I have never recieved a cold steak. The staff did cook another steak but surprisingly it still was not sizzling - and it frankly wasn't very tasty. ...and they forgot to bring knives and forks to replace the ones they took. The manager came by to check but that was before we had a chance to try the new steak. At this point we were done. They took off the price of the two side dishes that we barely touched but not the steak. The bill was still over $200. We have eaten at hundreds of nice restaurants similar in price and have had much better service routinely at establishments charging less than $50 per couple. I would recommend you steer clear of this establishment. Incidentally, we overheard the person next to us complaining about her meal and another table served by our waiter had to ask the older gentleman to get the waiter so they could pay. He also spent a considerable amount of time chatting with another table next to us to the point of being distracting.
Wonderful food, service, location and sunset.
Belated secretaries day f
Enjoyed our late Valentines dinner ......Especially
Impressed w chef’s change of menu
We’re there frequently so it was refreshing to see a new and creative menu selection .
Just a little trivia ... we enjoyed our 1st date at Orchids 29 years ago and have regularly returned .
Thank you as always for a wonderful experience. I’m hosting a family lunch this Saturday 2/22 there too !!
Excited to see if lunch menu has changed as well .

Brunch buffet had delicious food. Omelet station was really good. Spouse reported her egg Benedict, while delicious, was cold (was the fire out under the warming container?). I'm not much of a desert fan, but the berry cobbler was good, and spouse reported the coconut cake was really good. Service was outstanding. Four stars because it's pretty pricey...
Beautiful restaurant and excellent food. Service seemed a bit disorganized. Had 3 different servers and wasn't sure exactly who was ours. Also felt like they were rushing us along. But overall I still enjoyed the restaurant and food and will be back.
Great atmosphere, food, and service! Will be returning for sure.
Excellent service. Disappointing decor and Ambience. Too bright inside and no lighting outside that could show the ocean. Food just adequate.
The food was superb, and the service was outstanding. The lobster bisque was one of the very best I have ever had. The grilled shrimp was also excellent. At the waiter’s suggestion, I tried a Lim-mint (sp???) non-alcoholic beverage, which is the best drink I have had among many unusual and delicious ones on the island. And the service was absolutely brilliant, hitting that sweet spot between attentiveness and intrusiveness. I will surely return.
We love coming to Orchids everyone we do a staycay in Waikiki.
Magnifique! Très bonne nourriture bien apprêtée. Service attentionné
Delicious food with excellent service, friendly staff, and beautiful views.
The food is drastically over priced. The tenderloin filet was served just over room temp and a little on the tough side for a filet. The best thing on the table was the bread. The service was very slow and non tentative.
Drinks were fine, starters were, in fact good, too. The pate was as perfectly seared and presented as any we have had in Europe (and that's meant as a real compliment--we dine often in France). One of us had sea bass with a beautifully simple cucumber side and the other had a kind of bouillabaisse-in-a-bag 9can't remember the name). The presentation was awesome and the stew --which included a chunky piece of bread to help with the tomato-based liquid--was spoon tender. Our server was knowledgeable and we were not rushed, in spite of it being Valentine's Day night. We both highly recommend Orchids.
Dining at Orchids always feels like a special occasion. The service is very attentive and the food delicious and beautifully presented. A bonus is dining while the Hawaiian musicians are performing at House Without a Key and the notes drift over to Orchids.
Outstanding Service, Food and View. Thanks. We will be back in May.
Ourl oceanside table was perfect setting to watch ocean activity with vistas of Diamond Head. Service was impeccable. Our waiter, David, was exceptional. He anticipated our every desire. The two course lunch offered great choices. The seafood curry was beautifully prepared and presented and scallops were held for one guest who was sensitive to them.
Decided to have a nice breakfast out instead of dinner for Valentines Day. Would have gone for the fresh made coffee instead of the regular coffee but other than that, it was perfect.
I’m a discriminating dinner and tough Open Table review grader. If a restaurant meets my expectations it doesn’t get 5 stars; it gets 3. Too many Open Table reviewers are too positive to enable one to truly know the quality of the restaurant. Try the sea bass or the ono. Lobster bisque, too. Orchids is at the top of my list in every respect.
Perfect as usual! Best Service in Honolulu. Great ambiente.
It was a nice hotel restaurant with a nice atmosphere.
Orchids is our favorite restaurant in Hawaii It has everything: a beautiful setting and view, fabulous service and delicious food. Our server, Benn, was knowledgable, friendly and efficient. He also repeatedly called me by name, which is a nice touch. He is a pro.
We already have a reservation to return.
Everything was wonderful! Best mai tai, best Onaga, best coconut cake I’ve ever had!
Excellent service and food!
We continue to love the Sunday brunch so we participate every visit to Oahu. The only thing we could recommend is adding dragon fruit. The food and service are superb.
The staff were exceptional, as always (I’m a frequent diner), and the environment is phenomenal :)
Excellent all around
Vacation date night in Hawaii!
Great and helpful staff offering a personalized experience!
All very good as usual.
Wait staff seemed stretched thin, service was “good”, not “great”. Seafood curry was awesome.
Wonderful breakfast on the patio of Orchids oceanfront. Breakfast was prompt, and tasty. Fruit and juices, fresh.
There is no outdoing the location; adjacent to the ocean on the patio surrounded by lush greenery.
Top breakfast off with their signature Coconut Cake!
