First of all it is no longer the Orchard Chop shop so that was disappointing. It is now the Ember Grill. Not as good as the chop shop but still good.

We made our reservations for Restaurant Week. We were greeted by a cheerful hostess and given menus, but we had to ask for the Restaurant Week offerings. The bread with Boursin spread was delicious and we asked for more. One of us ordered the haddock, which was dry, the other ordered Chicken in vodka sauce, which he liked and we thought was just ok, and I had the skirt steak, which I thought was the best of the three. In fact, it was delicious. We were plagued by tiny flies that pestered us throughout our meal. Fruit flies? The desserts were good, with two of us opting for the pumpkin pecan and the other the apple cobbler. Not sure if I'd revisit this restaurant until they got rid of their flies. I definitely would not order the haddock. Otherwise our hostess was lovely and the wait staff was pleasant and attentive.

This is our second visit to this restaurant - we come to Dover annually for a CFA Cat Show and we make sure to dine here every visit. We we so happy to find that they have opened a wonderful Bourbon bar where the nice & friendly Bourbon expert will teach you about Bourbons and they offer sampling flights for a tasting experience. It was a wonderful addition to this restaurants offerings. They plan to expand that idea and I hope they do! The food as always was amazing...I had the petite filet with smoky/sweet carrots and sweet potato string fries. The filet melted in my mouth and was seasoned perfectly. I am a huge Ruth's Chris fan and this filet was as good if not better than RC's! And the price of my meal, with a lovely creme brulee and two Black Orchid yummy cocktails was a third of the price of RC's. The service was attentive, fun and friendly but not disruptive of our conversations at our table. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Parking is so easy...a well lit, and new Public Parking garage is right next door with an elevator and free parking on the weekends.

Birthday dinner with my son. 7pm reservation. Ordered 2 appetizers to split. Mussels fra Diavolo were a special. Very ordinary. Nothing wrong but def not "special". Also has alligator and shrimp souffle type dish. Interesting and unique but not memorable. Service to begin was fine. After the appetizers we had a loooong wait for our entrees. It was not very busy. We were seated on the opposite end of the kitchen entrance but we noticed there aren't any doors separating dining from kitchen. It was noticeably noisy, By the time our entrees arrived we were one of only 2 tables remaining. I ordered the flat iron steak medium. It arrived cold and more than well done. The entire plate was cold. My son ordered a delmonico and that was cooked to his liking. I sent the plate back requesting they NOT redo it. I had lost my appetite. Instead the chef came out with a new plate which I thanked him for but declined. They took the $26 entree fee of the bill and apologized. I expected more from the place. It was a disappointment.

Several had the NY Strip and was cooked properly, I personally had the rack of Lamb and it was one of the best with a side of rice and beans. We shared the calamari was not a fan for how it was cooked. I just like them fried. As for the noise level that would be hard to tell for it was on the slow side we were one of three tables. The services was great

wasn't bad, but wasn't impressed...for the prices on their menu, I would have expected better that's all...didn't seem organized and honestly the place felt a bit dirty...again when there's an $88 steak I would expect different. ..but maybe an off night for them.

I chose this restaurant because I wanted a special place for our 28th Anniversary dinner. I knew it might be more expensive than we normally go with, but I also knew we deserve it. I also knew it had good gluten free options (for me) and especially on the dessert menu (which I seldom find). My husband and I both enjoyed our meals. The steaks were probably the best we had every had. So very tender and easy to chew. And desserts were amazing. We seldom ever have dessert out but we both made sure to save room and so glad.
The only drawback (but not a big one) was that it was a bit noisy, but likely due to the people around us who had those voices that are loud and carry. We look forward to going back.

Went there for my anniversary. The service was very good overall and we were given a cozy corner table. The restaurant was fairly empty. Steaks were pricey and were cold, along with the sides. Sent it back and it came back completely charred. My steak was rare and I ordered it medium. I would not go back.

Interesting menu, good portions and not afraid to spice it up. Pricing better than I remember from years past, certainly one of the better restaurants in Dover and new parking garage next door is a plus.

We were greeted by the owner chef and Maitre d' and felt right at home like old friends. He discussed dry aging and we viewed some in his aging room.. our drinks were great and my wife's short ribs and russoto was " to die for".
My 35 day dry aged Prime rib eye did not disappoint, the chef and I discussed the merits of grilling vs cast iron pans. The wait staff was attentive and couldn't be more helpful.
Upstairs the bar is amazing! We drove 25 miles from wells Maine and I'd do it again!

The food was all ok- nothing special. The alligator shrimp cheesecake wasn't too flavorful and was crumbly. We think perhaps it was frozen prior to heating due to the texture. The server was friendly and professional and the beer and wine choices were quite good. The meals were also just ok- the rack of lamb which has a mustard crumb topping was a little soggy and too mustardy. The spinach was fantastic. A very unfortunate situation was that I asked to have my meal packed and they only packed the ribs and the spinach and potato were missing.

For the price, the restaurant was just ok.

Very impressed with the overall atmosphere of the dining room. All the staff were cheerful, professional and knowledgeable; the wine list is extensive and to the novice (like us) a bit daunting..no worries - the server's wine recommendation was spot on delicious and went well with what we were eating. We were mixed in our opinion of the steaks. My aged Cowboy Ribeye definitely got better reviews than my wife's Delmonico. (I think it was that she preferred the aging of mine to hers!) I have never tasted a better steak in my life. Well worth it, and you can really tell the advantage of the aging process to the taste of the meat.
It was a real treat to meet the chef/owner, who brought us out our steak knives for our meal. His demeanor was one of a person who truly wished a great experience upon his guests. Oh, and you must try the carrot cake.....

The Chop Shop has always been our go to spit for special occasions.
They must have been having an off night.
Worst meal ever. Steak was tough and flavorless - even the filet.
Pasta Mac and cheese was over cooked,
Smoked carrots very undercooked,
And flourless chocolate usually delicately flavored with Kahlua, was drowning in it.
Very disappointed.

An hour and 1/2 wait for entrees for 6 people. Apps came out quick, then the 1 1/2 hour wait for our food. The only time that there was an apology was when the waitress said at the 1 hour mark "sorry, but we got slammed at lunch today". Sorry, but at an average of $40 per meal, we had no alcohol, and I am not including our $50 tip (the waitress didn't cause the wait) you need to come up with something better than that as an apology. We were not offered a free drink, a free dessert, or any bread or food to get us through the wait. There was one other table of 6, 2 tables of 4, and a table of 3 - It was not a busy night. Chop Shop, you've been Chopped from our list of restaurants!!

I was super disappointed with Orchard Street Chop Shop. I love a great steak. What we had was mediocre steak, mediocre food, mediocre service.

We all got steak of various cuts, and I decided to splurge on the wagyu (which was ribeye rather than strip, which seemed fine). I've had wagyu before, and it's been the most deliciously meltingly succulent steak I've ever had. This was a slightly tough, medium-rather-than-medium-rare, ordinary steak. No detectable marbling, no succulence, no delectableness, dry and chewy. For $65.

The appetizers and sides weren't any better -- "Five Onion Soup Gratin" is just average French onion soup (lots of tasty cheese, but also too much bread and nothing-special broth). The "Chop Shop Crab & Lobster Chowder" was super unappealing -- it had an incredibly strong flavor of smoke (like somebody had spilled a whole bottle of Liquid Smoke in it) and was just hard to eat and unpleasant tasting. The "Smoked Carrots in Pecan Butter" were luckily not so over-smoked, but they were overcooked (mushy) and oversweet. Blackened asparagus -- meh and overcooked. Truffled mac & cheese -- meh and gloppy. Twice baked potato (which they forgot to bring me, but brought later, obviously reheated under a heat lamp) -- meh and bland. Shoestring & sweet potato fries -- meh, underseasoned and limp. The only side that I would order again was the "Sauteed Mushrooms & Baby Onions" -- not great, but pretty good.

Service was slow, distracted, and inattentive. Oh, and we were seated where we could see into the kitchen, with a nice direct view of the chef constantly wiping away the sweat on his head and face with the back of his sleeve and a rag that he would flip back over his shoulder. Not appealing.

I wouldn't go back. I hope they were just having an off night, but it seems unlikely. I thought this place was seriously overrated. If you're looking for a nice meal in Dover, go to Sonny's Tavern or Stages instead, depending on your budget.

The Delmonico Steak was tender enough to cut with a fork. My wife had the 8oz filet, also delicious. Great service. The owner was there and made us feel at home. Great choice of dining for my brief stay in NH.

My wife and I celebrated our Sixth Anniversary here. It was a beautiful setting with fantastic service and a definite first pick for next year! Although a couple large groups dined in close proximity of us and the noise level increased, we were still able to hear ourselves communicate and enjoyed each others company. We recommend this charming place for any couple of all ages!

Had reservation at 5:30. Was seated by 2 clueless hostesses. Never got acknowleged by anyone. Never got any water or bread. Chef was chatting up the table down from us re: some expensive wine. He walked right by us too. Servers were chatting it up at the bar. Waited 15 min, then left. Did not eat here.

The bartender saw us sit down, but remained in a conversation for another 5 minutes before acknowledging us. She did not correctly make my drink order. Our waitress was sweet, but was uncomfortable opening a bottle of wine, and after a few menu questions, acknowledged that "she wished she'd been trained". The food was delicious, the onion soup and truffle Mac n cheese were exceptional compliments to the dry aged steaks. Would go back for the food, but would never sit at the bar.

Special occasion with the wife. We were promptly seated and our waitress came right over. She was great throughout the night.. The steak was cooked to perfection for both of us... But you pay for quality. Mine was $36 for a 14 oz. Delmonico with a delicious Bearnaise sauce and she had an 8 oz. Filet Mignon for I think $28. The meal filled us right up so we were not able to try the dessert menu. Shucks!! Next time we will have to save some room.

We had a good time here. A nice, quiet meal, great steak without having to drive down to Portsmouth. Specials were great, wait staff was friendly and the food was very good. For a steak house, the prices were fair as well. An all around positive, happy experience.

Seated at 6:30, ordered by 6:45, eating by 8:15... excuse, small kitchen, too many customers, large party upstairs chef said our orders were redirected up their, reality, they lost our order and pushed to have us cancel and leave rather than own up and provide our order. Goodbye, you won't see me again

It's become increasingly difficult to find a quiet restaurant with decent food and a fireplace, where grown ups can have a quiet meal sans enfant. OSCH was ideal for this. Get the spinach! Even if you hate spinach, like I do. It's amazing!

The food, ambiance, and service are always wonderful. It makes me sad that the dining room isn't packed on weekend nights. The steaks and tableside service are divine, the wine and beer selection solid, and the cuisine is to die for.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. The steaks were delicious and I really loved the Demi-glace. The atmosphere is quite nice, dim lights, candle at the table, fresh bread with an herb spread and really lovely desserts. Also a good variety of fine spirits and wines. The waitstaff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Two of our party had steak and paid a lot for the aged selections. One was the delmonico and the other was the $64 "Kobe" selection. Both were only adequate compared to what you would get at a super market--nothing special by a long shot. Way over priced. Considering that our waiter claimed that they were slammed on an usually quiet Mobday night, the service was okay. However, they ran out of baked potatoes.

We had a reservation for our anniversary and were contacted an hour before and told the dining room was closed for a private function and we would have to eat in the bar. The steak was good but my soup and pasta tasted exactly the same. Both were over seasoned and I was picking herbs from my teeth for the rest of the night.
