Orange County Mining Co. Ratings and Reviews
I will be getting married here this Saturday so this past Sunday we had our rehersal and afterwards 16 of us took part in their brunch. The food was really good there was a large selection of different foods and a huge assortment of deserts. Good experience I'd recommend to anyone.
We love the Mining Company!!!! Consistently delicious, nothing too fancy, which makes it feel special without being pretentious.
Haven’t had a bad meal there in almost 18 years. We dine here about twice per month! The view is spectacular. The drinks are the perfect “weight”.
Everything was incredible. Our waitress was very professional yet personable. The glass of wine my wife ordered was her the one she liked her, but it tasted unusually alcoholicky. Had to return it for another. My New York steak was well done instead of how I ordered it, medium...but it was delicious anyway. The meal was delicious and the service was great
The steak was cooked exactly as we requested and was delivered to our table while still hot. The food was delicious and the wine pours very generous. My only complaint is that there is not enough disabled parking and the disabled entrance is not clearly marked. We had to park in the regular lot which meant my disabled spouse had to climb that long staircase from the eating level to the parking level, something he did with great difficulty. It was not possible us to retrieve our car and then pick up my spouse by the disabled entrance since there is barely enough room to turn a car around in the tight confines of the disabled lot.
Dated ambiance, unprofessional and seemingly untrained greeters, waitress ok, food all right but nothing special, mandatory $5 valet parking with long wait times because they don’t have enough, view not that great, requested to speak to manager within his earshot and he ignored us, wrote in reservation and mentioned when checking in and again when being seated that we were celebrating a 65th birthday. Completely ignored. Told the staff we were disappointed it had been ignored and they shrugged and said “ok”. Absolutely nothing special at all.
The most notable feature of this restaurant is the view, but the food is excellent. The portions are great considering the entrees are paired with a great salad and soup bar. I recommend the steak as it is seasoned and grilled perfectly everytime I order it. The accompanying cheesbread is top notch. They have rotating seafood specials. There's a full bar and lounge area if you just want to meet up for drinks.
Entrance sign on Crawford Canyon needs to have better lighting. It was very hard to see at night, particularly for seniors, for those who are dining for the first time, or for those who have not dined with you in a long time. Also better lighting along the windy entrance road and the parking lot should be considered.
It's a good venue, but is not the best choice for seniors.
I was actually very upset because i had made a reservation for 6 and called back to try to change it to 8 and was told i couldnt do that. when we got there we were seated in the banquet room at a table for 8????????????????????? the two empty chairs at our table could have been full with family members that wanted to join us. instead we had to tell them no. that was really ridiculous.
Three of us went on Christmas Eve we were seated shortly after arriving. Service was very good, window table, enjoyed sunset. Service good, food served promptly after ordering and it was hot and very good. It is not very accessible to disabled or elderly due to stairs.
I made reservations for 7:30, got there an hour early for some drinks at the bar. It took 20 minutes from ordering to get our drinks, appetizer showed up 15 minutes after that. Checked up at the front at 7:30, they said just a couple tables in front of us. Went back at 7:50 after hearing them call about 7 other tables and they said very soon. They seated us at 8:10. I kept thinking of the Seinfeld episode about businesses not honoring reservations. The food was pretty good, the cocktails were okay. The salad bar was really good. Not worth the hassle.
EXCELLENT as usual! The food is delicious and the view SPECTACULAR! We had a reservation request for a seat right on the window and we had it. Thanks so much. The salmon was wonderful and made my husband, we never eats salmon, want it. His steak was all gre at, just the way he likes it. And tonight they had split pea soup, his personal favorite. Everything was so good! Thanks for another great dinner!!
The food was good, our server read us the specials which were a tiny bit off from what our neighbors table was offered. Service was a little slow, had to request more water twice. A bread refill came a little late, and was on request not offered. While the food tasted good, my meat arrived at the wrong temperature (rare instead of med rare) while I would have normally sent it back, I ate around the seared edge and didn’t want to wait for a refire since my husband was already more than half through with his by the time anyone stopped by to ask. I will likely just try something else next time or order a temp up and pray for the best.
Never been here before but so glad we finally checked it out. Love the rustic feel of the place. Sunday brunch was yummy...the menudo and prime rib were on point!! Kudos to the chefs! Will definitely be back for more. I think we all agreed that we actually like it here better than Orange Hills....gasp! 😀
