Orange County Mining Co. Ratings and Reviews
Had a great time at the Mining Company. Great menu, everything comes with soup and salad bar. Delicious cheese bread.
I had a filet with Bernaise sauce. Cooked just the way I like it. Special ice cream sundae for the birthday girl. Fabulous view. Go at sunset.
Our reservation was for 6pm
we finally got seated at 6:50pm
we were seated at a table across from an empty booth
we requested the booth and was told it would be another 30 minute wait.
yet the booth we requested across from us was empty for about another 30 minutes after we were seated and then was given to a party of 2, when we were a party of 4..
Parking was a mess Saturday night so $5 valet was mandatory. Then had to wait 20 min for our reservation. When our table was ready the host called a girl's name when he meant to call mine.
I tried to correct him but was ensured the table was not for me. 2 minutes later he came back and acknowledged that he read the name wrong. He proceeded to sit us at a lonely table by the service window and busing station. We were pointed to the salad bar and had to ask the waitstaff for silverware upon return to our table. The rest of the meal was pretty straight forward. The food was good (scallops, shrimp, and prime rib are usually pretty good). Good view. But apparently we drew the short straw on most everything else.
It was my daughters birthday and she wanted to go somewhere different. A friend recommended the Mining Co so we went. Our waitress, Leah was very sweet and helpful. My only complaint was a couple salads from the salad bar were kinda bland and the soup bar was not filled right away and people were waiting. Other than that, overall it was a great experience and definitely a place to go back to for any special occasion.
Went here with family to celebrate my 35th birthday...there was 6 of us and they sat us in a booth...it was a little uncomfortable and we all had to squeeze together..next time I know to request a table..
Otherwise food was fantastic and service was amazing!
This time we were told the kitchen was out of eggs Benedict, we were a 9:45am seating, might have been better to say they weren’t serving them that day. The crab legs were awful, overly salted and no good meat inside. The eggs were strangely watery, and the menudo too spicy. The chicken crepes were good and one of my favorite things here, the rest of the items were good, and there is a variety here, something for everyone.
We love the view from the restaurant and the ambiance is great, but the service was TERRIBLE . Our server spilt a drink all over the table and all down the front of my father, who was dressed up for the Thanksgiving holiday. She didn't offer to comp the drink - rather, she charged full price. Very disappointing! The food was buffet style for the holiday and what was there was tasty enough, but people were waiting at several stations because all the food was gone. For a somewhat upscale venue we were very disappointed with the service and set up on all accounts. We won't be going again.
Thanksgiving buffet was AWFUL!!!! we went at 6:00-buffet closed at 7:00 food was barely warm and had been sitting in chaffing pan for awhile. Very disappointed as I have been going there for over 30 years. Jose the manager really did not seem to care. I will never go back on a holiday
We went for the thanksgiving buffet. Most buffets include coffee. We got charged $3 for coffee. Weird right? Dark by the buffet hard to see what was available plus travelin back to your seat. We ordered a pitcher of peach sangria which didn’t taste like it was supposed to. Was looking for a soft dinner roll, and was disappointed. We asked for and received a window seat which gave a beautiful view of the valley.
Thanksgiving Day buffet was less than desirable. The service was okay but the prime rib was very tough. The turkey tasted like it was rolled pressed. The crab legs taste like they were two days old. The salmon were like little Broken Bricks. Overall I will not be back. Desserts failed as well. I cannot recommend and I will NOT return.
Atmosphere and scenery were excellent, and service was well above average. Food was of high quality and flavorful, but my wife’s chicken tenders were somewhat hard and dry. Mixed drinks were of mediocre caliber. Other entrees were very good, and portions were quite generous. Overall, it seems that quality has degraded somewhat over the past several years that we’ve been frequenting this restaurant, which was what we would consider an excellent value in ‘06.
Disappointed in follow-up on reservation - even with reservation and not too busy we were directed to the bar for 10 minutes. Service there was slow and waitress was 1/2 through taking bar order when paged for dinner. Through OT reservation had requested chaired tabled - were seated in booth, advised of special celebration (Anniversary) and that was never brought up. As always food and ambiance were outstanding.
Disappointing. We arrived early for our reservation and were told to wait in the bar. No host ever came for us so around our reservation time we checked back in and they were seating others with later reservation times than ours. We finally got a (lousy) table right in front of the kitchen, far from the windows. Disappointing since I requested a table with a view as it was our anniversary, but I wasn't going to make a big deal about it since it was a busy night.
Before I had made the reservation I had made sure there was a vegetarian option, the miner's veggie plate. But when I went to order, the waitress told me the asparagus is steamed in chicken broth and it isn't actually vegetarian. Not wanting to ruin our anniversary, I sighed and ordered the $22 salad bar. I later discovered that not one of the soups they offered was meat-free, not even what appeared to be a tomato bisque type soup. The potato salad bowl was taken away and never replaced in the salad bowl the entire time we were there. I paid $22 for a plate of salad and some watermelon.
My date's swordfish was pricey and not that big of a portion--sides were disappointing. We went in with high hopes and left feeling ripped off and disappointed. I left an email to Mining Co.'s management and received no response.
