Opus Too Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent and service was top notch. This is a culinary school so check for hours and make reservations. Menu changes and it is small, come with an open mind to try something new. There were three appetizer options, three entree options, two dessert options to choose from. Only $12 per person per meal. The ambiance was very nice, suited for friends evening out or romantic date night. We both had steak, it was tender and cooked precisely as requested. Nice piano playing in the corner of this small candlelit room. Definitely impressed.
Students do a great job. Only complaint was the player piano was too loud this time. Totally not necessary to have playing. First time there it wasn’t playing and the atmosphere was wonderfully quiet, like old time fine dining and we loved it. Dump the piano or turn it way down please
We had a delightful meal at Opus Too, and the service, as well as the cuisine, was impeccable and done to perfection. I'd heartily recommend this restaurant for a leisurely meal in a very lovely setting. The selections that were offered during this last visit were outstanding, and this was by far, the best meal that I have ever enjoyed there!
I have been there many times. Opus Too is a "training facility" for the restaurant industry inclusive of cuisine. The food is good with a fine selection of wines. I have met many of the training instructors over the last 10 years. We have an office in Las Vegas and reside in Australia.
A little disappointed on this occasion. Firstly the menus is confusing with prices identified for different courses, as well as 3 courses for $12. They are trying to identify fine dining and they had a hamburger on the menu?
There was a limited selection of wines, well below normal and our waiter had no idea as to the list or where the wine came from. He poured the selected wine for me to taste and then poured wine for the others, leaving me with an empty glass. The wine (white) was left on the table and not put into a ice bucket.
I observed little direction from the training staff.
We are back there again next Wednesday in the hope that it will be at it's usual high standards.
Unlike many other visits, this latest one was disappointing to say the least. This is our second visit in three weeks and the menu hadn't changed at all except for one or two side dishes. They used to have a different menu every day. Since there are only three entrées featured for dinner it was a difficult choice. I chose the chicken Cordon Bleu and unfortunately it was overdone and somewhat dry with very little flavor. The dish came with a tiny little tomato with breadcrumbs on top and that had even less flavor. The fruit tart for dessert was delicious. I've been coming here for at least five or six years and have never had a bad meal. This visit was very disappointing, more so because my two friends took me here for a birthday dinner. My companions had no choice but to order the salmon since they had already had the other two things on the menu previously.
Service was absolutely impeccable as always.
We go there as often as we can. The food is gourmet and prepared by students who are VERY skilled. The wait staff is very timid but with a teacher watching everything is done very professionally. The best thing is that the pre-fix menu is $11.95 per person. Where can you get a 3 course gourmet meal for that amount of money?
We were so proud to be the last people served this semester, they will be back next year. The food is incredible, the wait staff is so polite and well trained; the teachers supervise from a distance and it is a wonderful experience all around. The price is economical for the very pleasant experience you will have.
This was our first time there. While the menu is limited, 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and two deserts, the food choices were fabulous. There is an open window to the kitchen so you can watch the chefs prepare your food. The tables were set very nicely with white linen table clothes and flowers on each table. There was a player piano playing beautiful music. So the total ambiance was great but this was all about the food. The food was excellent. I had the risotto with pork. My husband had the meatball with garlic polenta. We had eaten the night before at a high end Italian restaurant in one of the casinos and this restaurant put that place to shame for 20% of the cost. Highly recommend - but be aware that they only serve lunch. I can't wait to go back!
Very nice experience. Great to see students learning the restaurant business. The meal was outstanding and the price cannot be beat. Restaurant is open as a class period and all of the cooks, hosts, servers, bidders are learning, and learning will. Shall return.
From the minute we were greeted by the Hostess, Savanah, to our last bite of dessert, our group thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Opus Too. Iris and Greg served our table well and Greg schooled us about the restaurant and the courses of study at the school. Every dish was obviously prepared with great care and everyone in our party were impressed with their choices. To top off our fabulous lunch, we have pictures of all the students involved with preparations and serving for the day. We plan to return on our next trip to Las Vegas.
What an enjoyable experience. We have already been back again, and plan to make this a regular part of our dining out schedule. The food is delicious!! And the atmosphere is wonderful! And such a bargain getting a three-course meal for $11.99.
The students at the Art Institute are to be commended for their work in making this a memorable dining experience.
We continue to be pleased with this restaurant. The menu this time was exceptional, my husband told chef, best one yet! The service is always great and we love being able to support local culinary students! You really can't beat the excellent service and taste!
We booked at Opus Two as we believe in supporting local business and talent. We could only get lunch time booking as no availability for the evening. The restaurant was a little hard to find as we are international tourists but we made it on time eventually. The restaurant is quite small and has a glass window to the kitchen which was very nice. Tables were set up nicely and all staff are students and use the restaurant as a training base. The menu was simple but adequate for us. Our entrees were the chicken pate and a green salad. Both were nicely served but thought the pate was too large for an entree. American servings are very large compared to Australia, so we couldnt eat it all. However the taste was very good but prefer half the size. The salad was a plain lettuce salad with a dressing, and was very nice but think it needed something more to give it a zing. Next was mains of pan fried trout with beans which we both enjoyed. The home made bread was really outstanding and would like to see a whole wheat version. The staff brought as much as we liked which was really nice and still warm. Afterwards we had poached pears with home made icecream. The pears needed just a tad more poaching to make them soft and easy to eat, but the flavour was great. The staff were attentive and the head chef gave recommendations for wine. Overall a very nice experience and was a great price. Please keep up the good work!
This is a student run fine dining restaurant. The experience can vary from very good to poor depending on the experience of the students involved. Have had both good food, and also recently had food that was badly overcooked with a confused server. Still good value for money for lunch.
